  1. I am on Levoxyl, and I do very well on it. I could tell a dramatic difference from not being on a thyroid medication. I was accidentally prescribed Levothyroxine and it messed up my menstrual cycle and made me very crampy and tired. As soon as I went back on to Levoxyl I was fine- and there were no more problems.

    A couple of questions...

    What type of doseage where you taking? And for how long?

  2. The body needs selenium to convert T4 to T3. If we can't absorb minerals, we could have a problem there.

    Could that be the reason my thyroid levels are all over the chart?

    I tried Armour after Leveoxyl, Armour (althrough felt better) I developed a mouth blister and can't tolerate pork. Went back to Leveoxyl can't balance out alway boarderline hyper, heart skips a beat, the vein in my left palm hurts, can't sleep, you know all of them. :wacko::blink: Went back on Leveoxyl 88 mcg, crawling out of my skin. I wanted to back down on the throttle and lower the dose to the next strenght dose. So I had my compounding pharmacist made me 75 mcg. He filled it with LEVOTHYROXINE -T4.

    I took it and immediately felt better, 6 weeks has passed, a few days ago I became symptomatic again more hypo. Yesterday I had blood drawn, today I find out everything else is perfect range, T4, T-Utake, FTI, but TSH was HIGH. 14.96 normal 0.35-5.50

    I called the compounding pharmacist he asked what was my T3? They didn't test it... The endo doc said increase it. Don't have any pills for the weekend. :huh: And compounding RX takes about 4 days or more sometimes. She told me to go back to the 88 mcg of Levoxyl. :lol:

    And after reading this thread I'm wondering what is causing this for me?

    I will tell you this -- I also did some research on the dyes used in the mainstream drugs they are cross contaminated with gluten from the company that makes the dye. They don't tell us, unless you call and put them on the spot they say we don't guarantee. My endo dock said the 88 mcg dye causes problems for other patients also.

    :blink: I don't know anymore. The mists of brain-fog has entered around me; I don't understand anymore :blink:

  3. I'm starting to suspect that I'm reacting even stronger to soy than I am to gluten, and DANG does soy hide in a lot of places!

    Does anyone have a soy-free chocolate recommendation?

    Walmart has it hidden in the kosher isle.

    Gray colored wraper, gold and white lettering. Perhaps they are old packaging? It's different then what apear in the euro site. They have a dark chocolate one stuffed with a hazelnut filling. To avoid dairy go dark chocolate. Since becoming a celiac I like dark chocolate better then milk or white chocolate its also yummy.

    ALPROSE DARK CHOCOLATE BARS are about $2 or $3 a bar.

    I am also a celiac that is reactive to SOY. I believe it is for me as bad as gluten, and the real reason for my serious thyroid problems. There are threads here pro and con-soy; we are living in a new time of discovery. We are so lucky we have found each other to spread the word to those that want a better quality of life.

  4. My little Italian dog has develped symptoms like mine.

    You know when I had the RAI treatment for my hypo thyroid with the nodule the nuclear tech told me to stay away from my little dog and don't hold him close to my face. He would jump on the bed and you know how they lick your face and etc... I tryed for about a week to keep him away while I was "GLOWING" but I have a feeling it's made him sick and blew out his thyroid too. He is a long haired dog, he is itching and scratching, and licking himself crazy. he doesn't have flees. His long hair is falling out. I find it all over the house. His breed doesn't shed. And he wants to eat and eat himself to death.

    I know I asked this question before but how do dogs get celiac disease?

  5. :D I was in Whole Foods yesterday and stumbled upon a product called Vega. While it claims to be so nutritionally complete, I feel it could benefit some of us malnourished and underweight people who might use it as an added meal/nourishment basis. Or for those days when we've been glutened, or for those days when we're sick, etc. This stuff is virtually made for person's like ourselves as it is very alkaline and conducive to healthy gut flora - something that is typically very compromised in celiac persons. Its definitely worth checking out. www.myvega.com. I tried the chocolate and it was yummy! :P

    Do you have thyroid problems? I went to their web site you listed. They talk about HRT, when I stopped HRT years ago that is when celiac disease flared up for me. They have to use something to make the power out of. I couldn't find what it was. I found "Protein sourced from hemp, yellow pea, brown rice, flax and chlorella" Yellow peas are in the legume family. I know for those of us with thyroid problems (it can be confusing hyper and hypo) they tell us to stay away from seaweed. And chlorella is various unicellular green algae.
