  1. Depression goes hand-in-hand with celiac disease. It's documented.

I suffer, not only depression but post tramatic stress... I can't take mainstream medication because it is filled with gluten, dairy or corn. Beware of drugs (colored pills) with dyes they are CC with gluten I have been doing research...

    Back to the topic...

They = the health care community and our government couldn't handle the truth about the real numbers of all the sick depressed angry people and children un-DX'ed in our country. We are a depressed nation for a reason. This country is being feed gluten and soy that is making us sick.

Look at Italy and some of the european countries that treat and understand the disease. They have a much different understanding and approach.

  2. QUOTE """""Also, they may correspond with outdoor allergens this way:

Trees--apple, peach, cherry, apricot, plum, pear, kiwi, celery, carrot, potato and hazelnut

    Grass--celery, cereal grains, and potato

Weeds--apple, carrot, celery, kiwi, orange and peanut

    Ragweed--banana, cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon"""""

I have found truth to this. But I never had any of these allergies before I went gluten & dairy free for 5 years. Except ragweed.

This is what I'm allergic to --

I have a reactive problem or allergy with these -->

    TREES: APPLE'S PEACHES & HAZELNUTS

    GRASS: CEREAL GRAINS POTATOES

WEEDS: APPLES (not cooks - when cooked they aren't so bad on me) ORANGES, PEANUTS

RAGWEED: (ragweed from the North East I'm allergic too) I'm not sure about the melons they seem okay - I LIVE ON BANANAS!

  3. UGH!!!

I never had all these food allergies either.

I must say -- NOW, I have a problem with APPLEs too. Never did before!

All these secondary allergies did NOT come on me until 4 or 5 years gluten & dairy free. I never cheated-- ever! I have developed a problem with so many things, NOW my diet is very limited. I think it is something we [ALL] need to study a bit more. In a couple of the celiac disease books I've read they address the very real issues of secondary allergies that many of us Celiac's get as time passes. I created a thread to see if some of the old-time > (people who have had it more then 5 or 10 years) Celiac's that have been living with celiac disease could help many of us... No one has posted anything yet. Maybe I posted in the wrong spot.

Have you been tested for apples?

    Be well!

buy thi sbook it will help you. If you can't buy it go to your loacl library and borrow it. If they don't have it do an inter library loan, they will order it from another library.

You must also read "Open Original Shared Link" <<<< A MUST READ -- NOT ONLY FOR YOU BUT YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND YOUR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO A DOC AND HE/SHE HASN'T READ THIS BOOK, YOU ARE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY -- THEY ARE MAINSTREAM KNUCKLEHEADS IN IT TO ROBBING YOUR MONEY.

  5. Think basic. Simple Meals... until you settle things down inside. Have you read the Paleo Diet? It's like a caveman/cavewoman diet. Simple stuff really works for celiac disease. Get the book it will help.

    Chicken baked plain.

Carrots no butter use olive oil.

    Something else Veggie plain steamed.

Make plain chicken soup from scratch use carrots, celery, (no onions yet) fresh parsley is good for you.

Melons, berries, grapes, [bananas are really good]. Too much cirtus might be too much, think plain.

NO DAIRY! Stay away from rice, corn, potatoes for a few days and see if you can tolerate other things first.

And when I feel real bad -- like I feel like I'm gonna passout I drink a bottle of baby PEDILYTE it replenished the lost electrolites the body loses. I helps a lot! Try it it works.

  6. I had it. Really [really] bad.

Painful periods from Hell!!! ...I would passout many times, cry-all-night-from-pain, get migraine every month; before. during. or after my period without fail. I lived on pain medication.

Took the 'PILL" it helped lessen the pain.

It all stopped when I had a hysterectomy at a young age. Then took HRT. When I stopped HRT after 10 yrs and was in a extremely stressfull enviroment it triggered celiac disease for me.

    I know your pain!

  7. :o

can you tell me what Oxy-Powder is?

I googled it Open Original Shared Link

If I used that I would be hospitalized for sure...

You really use this stuff? Is your problem your backed up? Or you have steatorrhea diarrhea and you want to be sure there is nothing left in your colon?

I can tell you in my life time (when I didn't know I had celiac disease) I did those colon cleanse, and the entire holistic thingy, with no meat 15 years, vitamins and etc... I now know using those things -- no meat, vitamins galore, colon cleanse treatments made me more hypersenstive to this disease, for sure, without question. I do not just get a little constipation or loose stool type of diarrhea that was years ago, now it has escalated to seizure and loosing control of my bowels. I know we all have varied degrees of this disease and the other autoimmune diseases that go along with it but watch out what your doing.

  8. I would rather err on the safe side and avoid it.

I wish someone posted the problem with soy before when I first came down with celiac disease. I have been very strick what goes in my mouth I NEVER cheated on a gluten & dairy free diet for 5 years. But I ate plenty of SOY. It's in everthing. Tuna (listed as veggie broth) chocolate bars (soy lethien sp), it's in beauty supplies, gum, the list is endless... They can hide it in labeling as, veggie broth, natural flavoring, flavoring and on and on.

And for those of you still in denial. Why would SOY be listed in the 8 major food allergens?

For those who still don't believe... go buy a few books or you can find them at your local library.

The Thyroid Connection -- Living Well with Autoimmune Disease: What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You...That You Need to Know -- Dangerous Grains -- Paleo Diet -- (if you would like me to list more I will.) Read some of these book and read what the authors are saying about SOY and you will quickly change your mind.

  9. I can't chew gum anymore either  .

    Diagnosed Celiac--June 2005

    Other intolerances--

    Dairy

    Soy

    Corn

    Tapioca

    Coconut

    Eggs

    Guess what?

I found out why.... gum has SOY in it. I'm so upset now I have to shop around for soy free gum!

I wrote to Wrigley and this is their reply:

Thank you for contacting us about the use of lecithin in our products.

You may be interested to know that lecithin is a soy based ingredient

that occurs naturally in soybeans. It is an emulsifier that helps to

improve compatibility with oil and water. We use lecithin in our

products to improve flavor release and the overall texture of our gums. Of

course, each and every ingredient used in Wrigley products is in full

compliance with local food and health regulations.

We hope this information has been helpful and thanks again for

    contacting the Wrigley Company.

    Sincerely,

    Melissa Griffin

    Consumer Affairs Representative PR@wrigley.com

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What really get to me with these companies is they pretend this garbage is "GOOD" for us using their words and saying thing like "....lecithin is a soy based ingredient that occurs naturally in soybeans."

SOY is one of eight major BAD food allergens they are pumping in our food.

For your review I've added it below...

Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004

(Title II of Public Law 108-282)

    (2)

    (A) eight major foods or food groups--milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans-- account for 90 percent of food allergies;

    (B) at present, there is no cure for food allergies; and

    © a food allergic consumer must avoid the food to which the consumer is allergic;

  10. B)...I'm back to eating wheat and refined sugar.I felt I could eat it,so when I went to the supermarket I gingerly picked up two wheat rolls and a pumpernickel bagel and I ate them without pain or side effects or anything.I can't believe it,I feel like singing Aretha Franklin's song "So Damned Happy", 'cause I am! This week I ordered two wheat pizzas and ate those......

....... ate wheat pound cake, two pieces, with no problem.I can even enjoy tomato-basil wheat tortilla wraps, since my wheat is going down real easy suddenly......

....I'm back on wheat! Has anybody experienced this? gluten-free for a few months then healed and back on wheat and some refined white sugar? It's amazing,it really is. I went around feeling like God raised me from the dead or something-I'm healed! I'm healed!

    celiac3270 -- Well said!

Candy -- You aren't a Celiac-wanna-be? Are you? Celiac de jour; for you too? Doctors say people think it's chic and trendy to have celiac disease now... Or perhaps someday you will wake-up from the wild fantasy glutened dream and have to live with a life with steatorrhea diarrhea.

    I'd take celiac3270 advise.

    Be well!

  11. Okay, I've been gluten-free since January.......

........Tonight, my husband made a box of scalloped potatoes (he never cooks, I just had the kids swimming and was late and he was getting hungry). I assumed he'd checked the box; he assumed it was gluten-free (which of course it wasn't).

........Why am I not reacting consistently? I must have had much more wheat in the dumpling, but didn't react at all. Two bites of scalloped potatoes, and I look like I'm 6 months pregnant. It doesn't make any sense!

Sometimes w/ celiac disease you can have a problem with dairy and other things too. I do. For me dairy issues w/bloating (and pain) and gas are my symptoms also. Scalloped potatoes are cheese dairy and the thickening agent. The later could have been the problem cause it to be worse. Have you had a reaction to cheese and dairy before? Or corn? Mint tea helps me with the bloating.

I keep a food & body journal. Very important. It really helps me understand why I feel bad, and why. And I've been working with, believe-it-or-not, my chiropractor and he's helping my digestive system get better. He is changing patterns I have formed. But journal what you eat -- and what your -- stool is like. I know, I had a hard time typing the word. But you will get answers to what foods work and what foods don't.

  12. What about taking a laxative? Is that bad?

I was SOOO hungry @ work and had french fries (we seriously have nooothing I can eat).. which I knew would give me all the symptoms.. so I took a laxative and the next day went to the bathroom. A LOT. I didn't have any symptoms afterward.

Is this a bad idea? Or is it along the same lines as taking lots of fiber?

    BAD IDEA!

If your colon is inflamed - you don't want to stress it more, and tax your immune system.

Immodium helps a lot for me and I take electrolytes (pedialyte) to replenish what my body lost. And before I have di·ar·rhe·a or when I feel my colon going into spazm I pop one of my 'little blue pills'. And it stops it.

PIXI -- take along a snack. If only raw veggies or raisins, fruit and nuts to 'hold you over'. When I do that 'not-eating' I end up getting a migraine. Ouch!

    Be Well!

  13. Mostly, I miss just putting on lipstick without worrying if it has gluten.

I hate going in to Open Original Shared Link feeling the same way PIXI does...

All day today -- I've had a strange ichy feeling that I have DH. Shh -- don't tell my immune-system!!!

  14. Have you considered mercury poisoning? It causes increased susceptibility to allergies, not to mention numerous other health problems, particularly lowered immunity.

ArcticSun -- Welcome! For a newbie you are very wise.

I agree with the minerals in our water, air and ground are sickening us. That is why I only drink distilled water.

Pass this site around. All you do is type in your zipcode and you will learn how dirty your town and neighborhood is. I was shock when I did mine. -- I live in a affluent community in Florida... Now, I want to move [giggle]

  15. I hate life like this!

Yesterday I went to a birthday party. And had to explain to each and every guest even the 3 year-olds why I can't eat cake and ice cream, flavored coffee. or for that matter [anything] they were serving. They looked at me like 'yeah right!'

When I came home to my big empty house...my little doggie greated me...I wondered what is my purpose? Being beautiful and all alone? Why? Why am I plaged with a sick life? Why has this become my destiny?

Okay if this is my fate -- then -- I would like to live it for a cause -- like I would like to take on the system. Stop belly-aching and move through this --- and --- help make life better for all of us in celiac-land. But an 'army of o-n-e' doesn't work.
