  1. ChelsE -- I love that DOVE foam mouse conditioner too. It's really nice and has SILK in it not SOY . It strips my color only a little. I have bottle red hair. Red is a hardest color to keep. I can't find DOVE foam mouse anymore here in Florida. A sales girl in Walgreens told me they discontined it. I hope not it's really good and I'm very fussy diva.

Matrix is a good option too. Quality line of salon products. Look at ingeredients in Biolage... Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link write to them and ask the site says natural inngredients but natural can be wheat protein. Just check and see...

  2. pixiegirl -- Thank you for that explaination. It makes sense.

You are right no magic shot for food allergies. This doctor was another liar to add to our list of NO-GO DOCS!

For me the rotation diet was a printed out form that came back from the lab. It had everything they had tested me for that I had a problem with eating, they wanted me to eat. @#$%^& -- What I mean to say is the lab just printed out a FORM ROTATION DIET that was a general diet, not eliminating the things they had tested me positive for. I can't believe they can take our money for nothing and get away with it. If I ate what the labs form letter recommened I would end up in the hospital.

I'm sure the concept works. I have begun to do it on my own. I was reading "Dangerous Grains" great book by-the-way, the author writes about rotating our diets otherwise we as celiac's will develope secondary food allergies, just as you have mentioned.

    Thanks again pixiegirl!

  3. I found another good book I just finished it this evening. It's not the first book I would read. I would NOT read when just DX it's way to technical. Good information about celiac disease. She writes about a number of other autoimmune disorders and talks about triggers and foods. Newer book Copyright 2002.

AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE and THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL TRIGGERS

But by far a must read for everyone "Dangerous Grains"

  4. I was hyperactive personality my whole life.

When I came down with celiac disease my thyroid went into the HYPER mode. I grew a hot nodule. Then had RAI raditation treatment. It was too much for my system and it burned up my thyroid now I'm HYPO. I take thyroid medication. The regular tyyoid medication had CORN in it as a binder LEVOXYL. And the dies are cross contaminated with gluten I'm convinced... So I go to a compounding RX and made it for me free of the poison.

Some celiac's have a problem with corn too.

  5. So how are these allergists treating you??? We all want to know....

I went to one (it was a kings randson) an allergist they scratched and needled me drew blood and told me only [some] of the foods I'm allergic to. Then he made some type of shot to counter act the foods I'm allergic to. IT MADE ME SICKER! I found it was a big waste of money. It's not like enviroments, mold, dust, cats kinda shots. They can't give us a shot and -- all better -- at least that wasn't my experience. Perhpas if you have asma it might be helpful...

  6. Over the weekend I was in a beauty supply store. Not the type like "Sallys Beauty Supply" chain. I am a cosmetologist I spent 2 hours reading labels. What a shocker. EVERYTHING I have been using the last 20 years is filled with WHEAT & SOY...

Redken -- ANTI-SNAP -- A great product, or so I thought. It's ingredient is high in Wheat and Soy.

Shampoos that nare called it Natural -- are in essense filled with Wheat & SOY.

I would be here for a month listing my findings...

After I spent a few hours reading professional products labels; somethings bigger came to mind. We have talked about taking on "the big guys" to remove Gluten & Soy and other things from our foods and drugs. But beauty, skin care & hair care are NOT REGULATED and this poses another big problem for those of us with celiac and other health issues with things making us sick.

Rusla -- Is right thyroid can change your hair. It did mine too. For me it isn't more curly. The texture has changed to a bit more courser and thinner.

  7. I just picked up my new THYROID medication made by the compounding RX.

It was more then interesting that on the package insert it clearly stated DO NOT TAKE THYROID MEDICATION AND SOY, OR SOY PRODUCTS when on thyroid medication.

I feel better knowing I was right about SOY & THYROID connection I've been saying it all along. For many of you in DENIAL -- I know -- it is hard giving up so many things in our diet. And its hard going against the grain what Dr's tell us. But now I know where my secondary food allergies have come from and why I became so sick after 5 years gluten & dairy free. I wish all of you out in Celiac-land don't stay in denial about SOY because it will be a matter of time and you will get sick(er) from one thing or another. Just like I have, and so many others.

Forget what these money hungry doctors are telling you/us. Remember we are only 7 minute patients to them, a number and bi$$ the insurance company. We know more about what our bodies are telling us then them. SOY is in EVERYTHING! Veggie broth in tuna -- Walmart brand JELLO is packaged in the same factory plants lines that are processing SOY. Coffee has it in it. And if you don't believe me call Chase & Sanborn -- I did! And was shocked. Another way they hide it is they call it natural flavoring... Ha!

Well be well, and stay away from SOY...

  8. I can't do pork... I can't do ARMOR THYROID natural thryoid medication thats gluten and dairy free. It's made from pigs thyroids they dry and turn into pills. I can't tolerate pork. My only sympton is I get mouth sores.

I can do fish, chicken - steaks big fat juicy ones almost rare are my favorite. Most of my life you would never hear me say that. I was meat free about 20-years. I think it screwed me up not eating meata ll those years.

I'm looking to find a place that sells wild game... This is making me hungry.

  9. beware of hidden ingredients like:

    motified food starch

    natural flavoring

    natural spices

    artificial flavoring

SOY (for most of us soy is poison)

I have learned after I have caught several major companies not telling the entire truth. I call them and ask them direct question. What is in the ingredients (above)??? Ask if the machines can be cross contaminated by other products that are run on the same factory lines. This can make you sick. Ask what is in their ingredients are I've listed about.

  10. Robix -- Glad to hear you are speaking with your brother about celiac disease.

Yes, doctors don't get it and men have an even harder time wrapping their heads around the concept. Maybe this awful illness can bring you closer together in some strange way. As time passes and you help him heal, I pray his love for you will grow.

Make sure he gets tested with gluten in his system, because he will get a false negative if it's not in his system.

I was DX's with IBS and Spastic Colon (6yrs ago) cause the doc was a class act dummy. I had a colonospy (sp) and asked the doc to do the biopsy test. Guess what -- he never did it even though I asked. He didn't know what he was doing and got mad at me in front of my 85-year old daddyO when I quizzed him on celiac disease. His partner later told me I have celiac disease. Don't believe anything these doc's tell us. They are clueless. Don't feel bad, it's all part of celiac disease. Stay tuned in here. The people on this site are wonderful and you can gain a lot of support and knowledge here.

    Be well!

  11. I am one of those that has a problem with CORN. My seizures all started back with popcorn and after 3 time in 4 years I stopped popcorn. This wa before I know I had celiac disease. I was able to tolerate corn chips and other forms of corn up until my over load of soy created my thyroid problem.

Corn is in almost everything, right down to our medications. If you are like I am you have to have a Compounding Doc make a RX special without corn.

Some of us with celiac disease have secondary food allergies also.

  12. SOY is POISIN!

This is a link to a thread about soy being bad. A few people posting their views also. It is pro and con. To be better educated PLEASE read this...

I'm stuck on SOY today and everyday since I got the correct infromation. -- What I mean by SOY IS POISON for those of us with a thyroid problem or woman who have a hormone imbalance, menopause (sp) or babies, compromised immune systems. SOY is in everything, I know. I spent all day one day last week with Walmart food allergy phone lines to find out VEGGIE BROTH in tuna fish packs are SOY. Also beware -- ARTIFICALLY FLAVORING is also a name to hide soy and many other things.

But keep in mind also the SOY food group family is also LEGUMES, pea, beans and many other foods, you must concern yourself with it. SOY has become a problem for many of us here.

I wish someone took the time when I first came down with celiac disease 5 or 6 years ago and told me the true FACTS about SOY. I lived on SOY! Yes, I went on a gluten free dairy free diet. BUT that wasn't enough. SOY is what cause my thyroid problem. It does all sorts of things to the thyroid, mine was hyper and speeded everything up. Some will fight this issue (they are in denial) so be it, but I listen to my body and others that feel the same illnesses as I do, and I know what lead us to become sick after the fact.

Ursula --- one of the other members is also a believer how bad soy is.

  13. I found this post at the last page of this thread. I'm going to reread this cause it's a great idea.

I just found an alarming fact about Roche drug company.

The last few days I've been calling around to different drug companies to find gluten dairy soy corn free drugs. I was shocked when ROCHE told me they can NOT guarantee that their drugs [with dies in them] colored pills are not cross contaminated with gluten. She told me the companies they buy the dies from run the same lines that have gluten on them. She used words like strong prob·a·bil·i·ty!

So it really makes me wonder about quality control of things as simple as our pills. And yes, they are to clean the lines between products but we no longer live in the 'OLD AMERICA' before 2000 when life was different and the truth was told and people did their jobs with pride.

If your pills are colored and from Roche and you question your gluten intake, it might be where it's coming from.

I'd like to send this letter to some of the drug companies and find the truth. If anyone has a list of the big drug companies we can begin a list here.

  14. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but it doesn't look to good. I googled your words what I found were the first few link that appeared.

I found it here -- there is all sorts of information if you click the food link.

  15. I have also had a bad reaction to those teas. I posted before about it. I will link it here.

I called the company and I posted my findings here...

Perhaps we need to make our teas from fresh herbs like mint and etc... It only takes a minut and frankly it tastes better.

This is a little off topic but something I'd like to pass on to all of us here...

  16. Funny you ask I'm nibbling on a bar right now.

    ALPROSE SWISS DARK CHOCOLATE

Greyish label with gold and white lettering. It is Koser. You can buy it in the Koser isle of WALMART. I haven't found it anywhere else.

They also make another with Hazelnut filling that is also wonderful. It tastes great, I think better then when I ate [milk] chocolate. If you would like me to list the ingredients just ask I will be glad to post them here for you.

This is a SOY FREE product. I am a believer SOY is poison, and this is free of it.

    Enjoy!
