"THE AUTOIMMUNE CONNECTION" by Rita Baron-Faust and Jill P. Buyon, M.D.
My daddyO picked it up at my local libray yesterday for me. I sat up all night last night reading. It had more than a chapter on celiac disease and it made it all click for me... Worth reading. They consulted Dr. Green he is quoted in it.
Anyone else read it???
-
Thank you for posting that. I will do the same and print it out and read.
One of my great great grandfathers was well know in american history -- he had a plantation and grew wheat. I totally believe without question that there is a direct connection in celiac disease in my family today generation later having a bad genitic gene.

I have an idea I'll like to pass on. I welcome your thoughts and feelings.
How about we write to the drug companies... bring to their attention our needs?
How about we write (snail mail) to the "White House"???
GW Bush and the entire Bush family has thyroid problems (thyroid is connected to digestion and celiac disease). I have a feeling GW BUSH has it too... Just a feeling. Remember they changed the White House chef not long ago? The one good things the President Bush did was sign the FDA food labeling law. I think he knows SOY is killing us as a nation, little can be done at this stage until we gang up on food companies and demand SOY free food, just like we are doing about gluten.
Oh and the Sopranos the new season the FBI agent got a parisite lost weight... We need some how to get to David Chase.

I spent the entire day today trying to get answers what is in the tuna packs I eat.
INGREDIENTS: Light tuna, water, vegetable broth, salt.
** vegetable broth is SOY!
SOY for many of us is POISON -- you just don't know it yet.
If you have celiac disease and developed a thyroid problem -- I know SOY CAUSED MINE.
We as a nation are going to find out in the next few years SOY is making us sicker then we know.
-
For those of us that can't eat NIGHT SHADE VEGGIES I was told tomato's fall into that category.
I'm Italian and miss it more than I can express...
-
Robix -- I went through this too. Find a COMOUNDING pharmacist for your medication. They will make what you need with out the binders with Gluten, Corn and etc.... That's what I did and it helped a lot.
SOY IS POISON!!!!
I just went through something today I'll share with you.
I have been buying package tuna for the longest time it listed
INGREDIENTS: Light tuna, water, VEGETABLE BROTH *, and salt.
I called the manufacture of the food and it took me all day long.
I found out VEGETABLE BROTH * is SOY.
Now I know why I'm not getting better.

Great book it helped me too!

I know this is a silly question... but I'm a sillyak... lol
They say celiac disease isn't contagious. But could it be? And could we get it or give it to our pets.
As I read these posts and think back in time I find a connection in time with me getting celiac disease and my pet living with me and me getting sick. My dog died young very skinny and had a di·ar·rhe·a with many of the same symtoms I have with celiac disease.
Also I have another little dog now. He was with me about 5 months prior to the other dogs death. Then I had radiation on my thyroid and the tech that did it to me told me to keep my little doggie away from my thyroid gland. You know like picking him up close to my face/neck and giving him a kiss or sleeping with me. I kept him away but I later found out the radioactive material didn't leave my body as fast as my doc had hoped and it was in my system longer then we thought. My doggie sleeps on my pillow with me then and now. He has developed many health issues now.
Any ideas about how we and dogs and cat get celiac disease?

Watch out for SOY!!!
It's also poison for us with thyroid problems.
LEGUMES are in the SOY family too.
Open Original Shared Link on the right side I list some links about soy... I'll add them here. Open Original Shared Link and one more Open Original Shared Link or this one is great it's not on my blogg yet. Open Original Shared Link
Take care and be well.

Robix -- Some others here might agree or disagree with me on this and might they might know more about it then I do. But give it a try and stay away from GULTEN, SOY, DAIRY and LEGUMES (they are soy family). Eat protein veggies and fruit.
I know about the gas embarrasment. It happened to me too out with people one night I wanted to die when all eyes looked at me.

The dog food I feed my dog was called WD it's by RX only sold by a VET.
I noticed most of you're babies are cats. They also sell cat food too.
I dug out an old can I still have and I found their web site Open Original Shared Link I think it will take you there.
The can had a phone number listed 1.800.445.5777 for questions
Just a note -- as I just read the ingedients in the WD CAN dog food it listed eggs, corn and cracked pearled barley... they have several different types. I was feeding the dog the DRY food and it didn't have those things in it. The can food was for rare occasions...

Hennessey -- It's been a while... did you find out what the lump was?
Rusla -- knows a good deal about thyroid problems too I remember reading she had a problem also.

You gal's have me giggling...
Last night I was reading about gluten free cosmetics, and I ran to my make up drawer and tossed hundreds of dollars worth of make up in the trash. I was in a delema as to a gluten free mascara... I guess some of us won't need it... lol
I also had long eye lashes as a child but I'm a diva and love make up so I paint away...

celiac3270 -- comment about
"Pharmeceutical Industry -- even though few of us would actually take a pill for celiac, there are HUGE awareness benefits if one is made and FDA approved. You would get advertisements, and the pharmeceutical industry, which contributes to a lot of medical education, would make sure doctors knew about celiac, so money could be made off of people taking expensive pills every day. This area is really out of our control, though, unless anyone wants to set up a lab and make the pill ."
--------------------
celiac3270 is bright beyond his years. I wish he was a doctor. I would be his patient, he had helped so many of us.
I think he's right. I also think we need to some how get to the Pharmeceutical Industry and perhaps they will listen to the drug reps that pay them a visit and give them free whatever... Maybe we could work on sending letters to the drug industry and jamming their mail boxes. Think of this one for a quick minute -- if you look at illnesses, the nation spend the most $ , not on cancer, diabetis, heart problems, the #1 thing is digestive disorders... It might make sense to focus on bringing to their attention celiac disease?

4tomorrow -- don't let this MCDonald french fry thing get to you.
I posted something back a few threads back that generated a lot of hate mail for my suggestions I was happy celiac disease was in the news and the family was in a law suit with McD. I was happy they were making McD accountable and what better way. Everyone got on me about it not being good. It is their thoughts and feelings. It's okay! Many said that McDonalds didn't miss lead the consumers. I didn't feel that way. But now I just read the thread about it came out in CNN that they do have gluten in the fries. I reserve anymore comments. I'm just going to sit back and watch how this all plays out.
Please don't take what is said here personal. This web site has a lot of wonderful people that care deeply about one and other (& U 2) and celiac disease.
So please keep posting and stay tuned in.
Be well!

Hi my friends!
I was hoping some one had the URL to the above information. I wasn't as swift as the other's to pull it up.
No long ago my dog died, and the diet the vet put her on (before I knew what I know about celiac disease) the dog food was free of wheat, it was replaced with peanut shells, and her poop was alway pale and crumbly. I'm wondering if my dog died from celiac disease. I have another little dog now and he has many of the same symptons.
I'd enjoy reading more information. If you can repost the link or copy and paste the artice, it would be helpful.
Thanx again

Jocelyn357 -- I'm not sure if this thread is okay to post this but I don't think others will mind.
I noticed you said you get seizure episodes. ME TOO! WHAT ARE YOURS LIKE??? I also suffer from them along with post traumatic stress (PTS), celiac disease and other life threatening food issues. People don't understand what we go through... I look great -- except those people don't see me when I'm laying on the bathroom floor having what I call an 'episode'. I have just discovered epilepsy in my family the hard way. I have, oops, had an Auntie that was on a feeding tube being pumped with gluten and she was getting them too. I was powerless to stop the doctors and nursing home. She is no loger with me she passed holding my hand at hospice in Oct.
Open Original Shared Link along with some links I found about celiac and seizures (on the right side bottom of the blogg)
But, my seizure started if I eat corn, gluten, dairy or other things that trigger it for me. The first 3 time in the last 10 years they came from pop corn. So I stopped pop corn. It seems that after the food gets into my colon it spasms so bad and the pain is so intense, I loose control of my body and pass out. I've hit my head cut up my head from hitting it on the bathtub or floor. I wake up with my little dog licking my face. I can't control my bowels (imagine that) I shake, get really pale white, feel like I'm going to die, and can't cry out for help. It adds to my PTS. It is frightening to say the least. My 85 year old daddyO lives with me in the winter months and he has witnessed them. One time he picked me up off the bathroom floor and put me into bed, and gave me electrolytes it does wonders for me.
I get the night sweats, not cold anymore (that was from my thyroid) before I had it radiated. That's another story. After reading several of Rachel--24 posting she helped me see something I never noticed I was doing. If I eat any sugar about 3 or 4 hours or so before bed I get them too.
I've lived gluten & dairy free 5 years. I have not been tested for celiac disease the doctor said I had a spastic colon and wouldn't do a biopsy when he did the colonoscopy. And another doc told me "You know you have celiac disease and I know you have there in little you can do save your money."
On Monday my daddyO is going for the celiac disease profile test. He said to shut me up and prove he doesn't have it. But he has only one symptom he's anemic oh and he's diabetic, borderline hyper thyroid. I have read posts that say unless you eat gluten before you are tested and right before you are tested you will come back with a false negative. So over the weekend I'm going to feed him gluten everything and hope I don't get cross contaminated.
Oh that reminds me -- check the ingredients in your medication, it might contain gluten and dairy. It might be adding to things. Go to a compound RX that is free of those binders they use.
The other things I've learned here (the group here is wonderful people) that if you have a seizure and want to be tested for epilepsy you have to be tested with in 24 or no more then 48 hours max in order to get a true test results otherwise it a false negative. I haven't gone for testing... I don't want to loose my drivers license. I'm alone, no hubby, or kids to help me.
Stick to your gluten free diet. Some of us have more then celiac disease here. Soy is a problem, green tea, dairy, peanut butter, night shade veggies for some. Listen to you body and stay connected to these wonderful people we all care about each other here. Sorry my post is so long --
Stay well!
