  1. Nice! I love Depeche Mode! Ignore my question above, I didn't finish catching up on posts. I was lucky enough to see several people on my bucket list perform before we became unemployed (and disabled). Sir Paul McCartney, Roger Waters performing The Wall (with excellent seats), Paul Simon, and let's not forget "The Boss." Luckily we saw a LOT of concerts...
  2. What concert are you going to? Loey
  3. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I think this describes us - never have enough friends - for all occasions. Thanks for being part of the fabric of who I am!! Vitamin F and this so true!!!! I loved this and wanted to share it with you... Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character? How is it posssible that...
  4. So sorry that you're feeling so poorly. I hope whatever it is goes away FAST!!!! Sending you lots of healing hugs and a big steaming bowl of gluten-free Jewish Penicillin. Love, Loey
  5. Hi dear psillies. We made it through the night with no power outages. Not out of the woods yet but we're supposedly more than 3/4 through the blizzard. Next issue is high tide. As I mentioned we're on a hill but still crossing fingers that we remain unscathed. DH will have a huge workout when he clears the driveway (no snowblower and he doesn't want to pay...
  6. Final update before I head to bed. We had lots of times when we thought we were losing power but thank God it flickered and came back on. Half of Westerly has been without power for hours. They expect us to have more outages and they say it will take 3-7 days to get it back. Fingers crossed that we remain blessed. Saw my first "thunder-snow." We're less than...
  7. Hopefully this won't be my last post but judging outside I'll be seriously surprised and grateful if we don't have a power outrage. DH says I'm being apocalyptic but I'm a very positive person and just think I'm being prepared. He just hates me wanting to keep the local news on for updates (though I get Accuweather through my email). Snow has increased as...
  8. We're starting to see the snow and winds increase here in Westerly, RI (40 miles south of Providence on the shoreline by Watch Hill & Misquamicut - still under repair from Sandy). Haven't seen our current accumulations on the local news or weather channel yet but we're in for 2-3 feet. Power outages are expected. How long they last is another story. RI...
  9. Hello my dearest psillies. Just want to wish everyone hit by this mighty storm safety, no power outages and minimal damage. I'll be praying for everyone. We're close to the epi-center as well as being coastal. We're still recovering from Sandy so I hope that those in low lying areas and near the beaches will not suffer more of a beating. All my love, Loey...
  10. I'm waiting for them to decide to visit RI. I want to meet my psillies!!!!!!!!!!! Love, Loey
  11. My heart goes out to you (especially in the winter). When I was teaching I was up at 4:30 AM to exercise and get to school before 7 AM. Directly from school I headed to Grad School. When I got home I worked on Lesson Plans until 1 or 2AM then repeated the whole thing the next day. Weekends were spent on LP and assignments for Grad School. I can't believe...
  12. Not only are you an awesome moderator but you're a purveyor of very interesting facts. Love reading your posts. Love,Loey
  13. Thanks for the LOL Schroomie. Woke up at 5AM depressed and your post funnied it out of me. Hope your health has been doing well, dear friend! Love, Loey
  14. Honey, please B!^ch slap her for me (and do it 3 times for the three occasions!!!!). In this economy it's unfair to ask people to travel to a distant place for a wedding (gas prices) and I find it rude to ask for gifts. When I threw the party for DH & DS WE travelled to NJ. If we had expected people to come to us our head count would have been about ...
  15. I'm signing up for a class at the Y called Twinges & Hinges. I don't think I'll be the oldest one in this class. It's in water and builds flexibility. Unfortunately I have to take baby steps. I wanted to take Zumba Water Aerobics but I think I'll have to wait a while on that one. Shadow, great that you're walking 6-8 miles a week. You go girl! I'm proud...
  16. I went online to try to find a good answer your question as I am new to prayer shawls. Mine was made by a woman who is like a mother to me and her church ladies. While working on the shawl different prayers are said. Mine came with a card that said : "May God's grace be upon this wrap ... warming, comforting, enfolding, and embracing. May this mantle be...
  17. Continuing to send prayers to all our psillies in areas that are still getting hit with storms and their outcome. We had snow in the beginning of the week but so far the end of January has been kind to us. Hope February is kind to us all. Love, Loey
  18. As someone who received a prayer shawl, don't worry about the special yarn (although that's part of what makes you the special and loving person you are (great sentence structure for a former Special Ed and G&T teacher - OY VEY!). The shawl I received is not a color I wear nor is it the softest wool but I love it more than any of the shawls I bought myself...
  19. Pardon my repetition but GO, SPECIAL ED, GO!!!
  20. Just a shout out to all our loved ones in the forum out in the Tornado areas. Sending lots of prayers and positive energy your way. STAY SAFE!!!!!!! Much Love, Loey
  21. Here are some links to sites with prayer shawl patterns and the firs two have prayer ponchos. I find I'll wear a T-shirt some days just so I can wrap myself i it and feel all of the love put into it. I have known my SIL and her family since I was 16(I'm 61 now) and her mother is like a mother to me. The fact that she and her church ladies (not to be confused...
  22. I was just going to call out Superman & I. We could NOT ever have white furniture. We're big at eating in the family room when Tony's not home or we don't have company (and sometimes we entertain in the family room) and I'm a pretty big slob for a small person
