  1. I’d be interested in hearing what you’re eating, gluten wise, that causes you to feel bad.
  2. The more people feel free to be who they are, the better, I say! Go forth and express whatever way you see fit. I like that you claimed your space. Plumbago
  3. Ok, but I tend to think even “mainstream eaters” for lack of a better word are slowly but surely coming round to questioning the idea of sugar being in everything. HFCS, is just a teeny tiny bit “worse” than molasses or raisins, it’s almost not even worth pointing out. But at any rate, I did not know there were indeed gluten-free entrees one could order, an...
  4. ...and oops there it is: "sweetened with molasses and raisins." Sugar. The bane of our existence.
  5. Yes, exactly. So, a bun is gluten free. What can you put between them?
  6. B12 • On labwork, will find decreased hematocrit; increased MCS (size of RBC); increase of homocysteine • Increase of methylmalonic acids • Intrinsic factor antibodies – if elevated, can mean you have pernicious anemia Best Labs To Order • Serum B12 levels is considered not a good indicator because the way B12 works is inside the cells...
  7. There are different causes of anemia. It sounds like you know you had iron deficiency anemia. Your hemoglobin right now, though, is 12. This is normal. Speaking personally, I would not take supplements or get any kind of infusion with a hemoglobin of 12. Plumbago
  8. To the question - why does Dominos even bother? I would answer - to cash in on the trend of gluten free. As we all know, there are many who do not have any diagnosed sensitivity who are eating gluten free. My own feeling (and it's just an opinion) is that the gluten-free pizzas are for them. Mellow Mushroom makes a good gluten-free pizza - expensive...
  9. Great! The GI specialists are working on putting out the fire. Doc says that you should be as good as new, and no doubt you will feel better. Hopefully they understand that colitis is an inflammatory disease and it is probably necessary to make some dietary changes to avoid exacerbating the diarrhea. Plumbago
  10. A friend with microscopic colitis had diarrhea and lost 20 pounds. After colonoscopy, she was initially treated with budesonide, a corticosteroid. I don't think she wanted to be on that long term. So, she went on a restrictive diet – I think she went on FODMAPS (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols) or low FODMAPS. ...
  11. Hi, Has a doctor done any liver tests? The only other thing that occurs to me is lymphocytic or microscopic Colitis; its connection to celiac shows "particular interest." Clinical Gastroenterology has a pdf online on diarrhea you may find useful, as it sounds like you will need to be doing your own research. http://sgh.org.sa/Portals/0/Articles...
  12. That is very interesting that you say that ! (And thanks for clarifying.) I am gluten-free and have been for some time. I used to get that pain fairly frequently (pre gluten-free days) and only occasionally do now. When it does occur, it is right before I have a BM, a lower left side stabbing pain that inevitably happens just before a BM and completely resolves...
  13. The question I ask myself here is if the two things you are describing are connected? Rib pain/pressure pain could be a bleb on a lung (tiny air sac), costocondritis (a very common diagnosis in the emergency dept), any number of things. Then I would ask if you think the left sided positional-related pain causes the diarrhea?? Someone suggested thiamine...
  14. What an excellent description of your experience! Since I did not follow up my earlier message, here it is. After contacting Chipotle by email (in which I reported an indifferent attitude about what it means to not have gluten), they responded to me that they would be contacting those two stores. But, as you and others have described so well - there...
  15. Things in DC's Chipotles have gotten very slack over the last 1.5 years, and I probably should not eat there anymore. (Union Station and Woodley Park, for those in DC - those are the ones I use. Not sure about Dupont Circle's.) Can we email their corp office this link?! Plumbago
  16. Having a dialogue with someone who has been diagnosed Celiac by an acupuncturist means we are not singing off the same sheet of music. I don't mean to single anyone out, but the common "gold standard" for diagnosing Celiac disease is a biopsy of the small intestine usually conducted by a gastroenterologist. What has preceded this, often, are blood tests,...
  17. I know this is a very old post, but today (April 6, 2012) I called Pureology before I bought their DryShine Hair Styler (Shine & Control). They said it was gluten free. The ingredients are below. As always, the key is that tocopheryl acetate. It can be derived from wheat, but it may also be derived from something else. Water (Purified), PEG...
  18. These are my notes from before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Please keep in mind, that these notes are notes (in one instance stuff copied from the 'net) and were written before I was diagnosed! ______ Symptoms
  19. No adverse reactions at all. Just satisfaction. I even figured out how to cook Arrowhead - it takes much longer than Bob's.
  20. I was talking to a friend at work about what to eat for breakfast. She told me she has millet. I bought some Bob's at the health store near me, and I love it. Although I was trying to simplify my breakfasts, I've taken to adding ham or bacon, cheese, carrots, potatoes, etc... It fills me up, one of my primary goals for changing what I eat for breakfast...
  21. I discovered this ice cream recently at Harris Teeter. I looked twice at the ingredients and decided it looked safe so I bought it (not cheap!). I've since bought two more boxes. I do see Carrageenan as an ingredient, but I don't see carrageenan (wheat). Why do they put wheat in parenthesis? Does anyone know. I guess I could call Magnum, Unilever,...
  22. I'd like to thank everyone for responding. There are some fantastic ideas here, especially those I can make ahead. I will come back to this again and again. Plumbago
  23. Yes, I can eat potatoes! And that is a very good suggestion. I could either cut up a bunch to have them ready each morning, or I could go ahead and cook them ahead of time and just re-heat. Along w/ the sausage and eggs, I believe that would constitute a filling breakfast. Thanks!
  24. May I ask what brand of cream of buckwheat cereal you buy? Is it a hot cereal (I like hot cereals). I used to eat McCan's oatmeal, pre-diagnosis of course, and it was DEEE licous. (Anything approximating that would be good.)
  25. I thought I'd just go ahead and go for it, though probably the topic has been started a million times. What does everyone eat for breakfast? I am getting concerned that my morning meal might just have too much sugar. I eat lots of fruit, have a pancake and some tea. Of course I have syrup on that pancake. Oh, and often I have chicken sausage, a small...
