If you accidentally eat some gluten, do you guys immediately change to new toothbrushes?
-
Have you tried eating more foods with iron in them?
-
I also do drink lots of water. I've never had this problem before I got on my gluten-free diet.
-
I was on Day 5 on my gluten free diet. I also can't eat corn, meat, pork, or beef. I just found out any fish is fine for me. But for the past few days, I've been having trouble constipating which probably explains why I had trouble sleeping the past few days. I've tried some gluten alternatives such as beans, rice, veggies, and banana for my constipation but its not helping.
I was still awake in my bed by 3am and did a small research and found apple cider vinegar to also be a good thing to try for constipation. I took about 3 tablespoons and my stomach felt like it was moving the bowel again. I finally was able to get 4 hours of sleep. I tried it again this morning but it wasn't working. My stomach was hurting pretty bad and I was only able to get out a few small stools. I introduced wheat back to my diet again and there are lots of things (good things I guess) going on in my stomach... just waiting for the big one.
So any idea on how to deal with this constipation without eating wheat again? Maybe eating multivitamins as I'm missing nutrients from wheat? Peptobismal will be my last resort.
-
So the gluten aren't within the Vitamins/Vitamin Supplements themselves but the actual bread or flour?
-
No, but I'm sure its low as I have been avoiding foods that contain them. I usually don't take vitamins, but would they be a better subsitute? Does it have vitamins that contain the same kind from wheat and corn?
-
Can celiacs still get all their vitamins by eating vitamin pills? If so, shouldn't that cause some kind of bad reaction?
I can't eat gluten, wheat, shellfish, and corn. I've been eating all kinds of fruits, veggies, and beans.

Ok its about Day 4 into going gluten free and I noticed that I had a hard time sleeping since Day 2. I would go to bed at 9pm or 10pm and I'd still be squirming around at 1 or 2am in the morning. I really don't hit my sleeping period until 8am then wake up at 10am. So I've only been getting 2 hours of sleep since Day 2. Is this normal for gluten free dieting? I'm fine with everything else... I feel much better and active compared to when I was eating wheat all the time.
-
Beef, meat, pork, chicken, etc. They all eat wheat so wouldn't they still have traces of gluten when you purchase the food?
-
I'm on Day 2 on my gluten and iodine free diet. Still itching a bit. But is the rash suppose to look much worse before it gets better?
-
Doesn't sound like you ate anything big today.
-
It could be safe... just make sure your not allergic to hickory smoke.
-
I also have something similar right now, though its been improving bit by bit each day I cut down on the wheat and whatnot.
-
Some people aren't that sensitive to gluten so they can share utensils. But there are always traces of gluten in kitchen utensils and kitchen knives. It may not look like it, but IMO the best way to get rid of gluten completely is to isolate your things.

1) There are many gluten foods that use an alternative to wheat BUT many of them contain milk. Check to see if you're allergic to milk. Also check to see if you're allergic to salt. I was experiencing the same thing today when my mother cooked some veggies and she added salt in them. Felt itchy all around.
2) Yep. Separate plates, kitchen utensils, cooking pot, sponge, dishwasher, etc. What I do is just buy my own disposable plates and forks and I have my own pot(s), cooking spoons, and sponge.
-
So I'm thinking of starting this low iodine diet. I notice that my body starts itching a bit after my mother cooked up some veggies and beans with some Morton's salt in them.
I'm not having any problems with fresh fruits and veggies, but as far as protein goes... does fresh chicken and dried beans in plastic bags have any salt in them? Or can I cook them right off the bat without any worries?

Went a few days without eating gluten and I have never felt somewhat alive after 20 years of eating gluten. I was able to get most of my chores done the past few days without stopping or resting. Ate some biscotti and sandwich today and I'm back to the old symptoms listed below:
Skin rash (DH me thinks, doctors say its eczema but it doesnt look like it at all)
Lack or inability of concentration
Lazy
Depressed
Not motivated
Have a hard time processing or remembering simple things (locking the door, checking the stove, etc)
Feeling sleepy all the time
Trouble sleeping at night
Tinnitus
Eye floaters
Eye problems (I'm seeing floaters now but I also have this constant after-image effect when I'm trying to read)
Trouble reading
Trouble walking
Mixture of minor and major pulsating headaches
Often tired when waking up even after sleeping successfully after 8-10 hours
Depersonalization (when everything basically feels like a dream)
Already went to the doctor and she said I was definitely allergic to wheat. But sometimes you can have an allergy that doesn't trigger any symptoms at all. I've recently started taking allergy meds for my dust, animal dander, tree, mold and pollen allergies.
I've also checked with my eye doctor and she said my eyes are fine.
My grades have also been slipping in school because I just can't concentrate even in a quiet environment like at the library.

Ok I just watched a few vids on how to make refried beans. I don't have time to let them sit overnight and then cook them for 4-6 hours. Anything else I can cook at home for cheap that doesnt involve gluten, meat/beef/pork, seafood, and rice?
-
Well canned foods are cheap for one thing. And I'm allergic to gluten, meat/beef/pork, white rice (I think) and seafood. All of these foods give me a bodily itching reaction and rashes appear. It looks like I can eat any fruit, vegetables, and beans.
-
I'm hearing all these things about toxic in canned foods. Though, the best way to stay gluten free at home is to eat canned beans and use disposable forks. Is it safe to eat canned foods for the rest of your life?
-
I purchased a Kirkland Signature brand of hickory smoke ham and there's nothing on the ingredients that lists any traces of gluten.
-
I used to have a mild form of rash all over my skin, but after going gluten and casein free for 5 days now, the rashes are spreading and turning red. My eczema is also scaling and inflamming red. One night I had a major dose of hives on both of my arms. I haven't broke out like this since I ingested cows milk last year. Is this a normal process for the body that is removing generations of ingested wheat pushing to the surface of the skin? Or is it something else? I was feeling really doubtful thinking that my DH feeds off wheat and because its not in my system it may be aggregating my DH.
All I remember adding to my diet was extra virgin olive oil, gluten free honey bbq sauce, and hickory smoked ham.
-
I'm starting to think that it may be the Extra Virgin Olive Oil I've been eating with my food but I highly doubt it.
-
So today is my 4th day starting my gluten and casein free diet. I noticed a lot of improvement in my mood swings and I feel good, but I'm still anxious about my skin rashes. But earlier this morning while I was asleep, I noticed that I developed a HUGE rash of hives on both my arms and some parts of my chest and stomach. I woke up scratching it a bit and it was very red. I tried to go back to sleep just massaging and cooling my arms. I haven't had this kind of rash since I drank a glass of milk last year and I'm sure I haven't eaten anything gluten or casein on my diet for the past 4 days. This morning it doesn't look as bad as last night, but there's still parts of it.
I just wanted to know if this process is normal for those who are going gluten free? Is this the body just processing the excess wheat from my body from before and pushing it out from the surface or what?
What Does It Mean If Your Stool Looks Cloudy?

I've tried going on a gluten free diet again a week ago and before going on this diet, my stool looked small, plain and smooth and I wasn't letting out much for awhile. I've also had small pain on the lower left side of my abs for about a year and my doctors couldn't figure out what was causing it.
But about Day 3 on my gluten free diet, I noticed that my stool is shaped more like clouds (maybe diarrhea and normal stool combined?) and that I've been using the restroom 2-3 times more per day as opposed to before which was once per day and letting out only small amounts of stool. I don't experience the random pain on my lower left side of abs anymore.
Is this normal? What does a cloudy shaped stool mean?
