  4. I gave you a report on your other thread about the diet. so I will not take up the space here with that again. Take a look! and I am not getting on a scale until Jan.13 (one month). I expect to shed tons and be bikini-ready by April. lol I crack myself up. I wish to add that I also have to avoid high histamine foods because of some pretty awful...

  7. My mince meat pie is not the one made with meat. Mine is the fruit-based sweet pie traditionally served for Christmas. It's fruits (and brandy.) Glad you feel better.
  8. Laura--kudos to your MIL and to you for easing so gracefully into the G F life. Addy Love2 Sorry you got hit by the gluten truck (dammit!) lots of water, proBs and rest. If you are like me, you may experience something I call the "dopey effect" followed by the "ouchy" factor, then the "burnies" enter...and my nerves sizzle. followed by...

  10. Omg...you got the Lucy genes too. Ouch! I agree, we are lucky every day, but some days we feel even luckier. I made potatoes gratin (per request) for my friend, the gracious hostess who made filet mignon with bearnaise and lobster tails on the side. She also made spaghetti squash and roasted asparagus with red peppers and garlic (which was quite...
  11. You are going to make Risotto Milanese with that saffron, with your surrogate Mama's helping prompts...but not right now. Mama just got home from a day of revelry. Honey, saffron is your MIL's way of saying "I really love you and this is how I am showing you". Christmas is a time for miracles after all. and I think you are a lucky girl every day...
  12. (1) My coworker thinks that I need to be a better girlfriend and offer a shared household versus gluten free and that I need to cater to him and his dietary wants. But he and I share only 1 meal together and he has never said anything. My thoughts? Is your co-worker a celiac? if not, she has no clue. If your BF is not worried about the shared household...
  13. Bacon goes with everything. Bacon is essential to happiness in life. If you like bacon, you're my sister and I love you. Friday was hub's Bday. I ask " what would you like, babes?" He knows he can have whatever he wants. He is spoiled and he deserves to be. He wanted filet mignon with sauteed portabellas, smashed garlic potatoes and broccoli. er...

  17. in the culinary world, it has a "special meaning" http://m.cdapress.com/columns/bill_rutherford/article_47c79405-64db-56d3-8cb1-ad477797ac53.html?mode=jqm
  18. I urge you to get a second or third opinion on the AS diagnosis. One thing I have learned is...they get it wrong sometimes! Please, get tested for celiac. You need a biopsy for DH done. If, in fact, undiagnosed celiac is fueling the pain situation, if you go on a G F diet, you could reduce the pain. It's worth investigating, IMHO. Being positive...
  19. Those are not "bug bites" hon. They look like blistering lesions to me. IMHO Who Dxed you with AS? Are you positive for HLA-B27? (I supposedly had "undifferentiated spondyloarthropy" too, but I don't) My severe back, bone and joint pain was caused by celiac and malabsorption and osteoarthritis. A few disc issues from a car crash. It's greatly...
  20. I know, right? plus,I use it in my baking. Superior rolls and pizza crusts that way. My pal Sherry who owns the G F bakery gave me that tip. oh come now.......EVERY day is Brownie day to you.!
  21. Jammies here. I am under the weather. I have something--a stomach bug maybe?--I do not think I was glutened but we did go out to dinner Thursday for our anniversary. The meal was superb, complete with champagne and oysters, etc. The chef was sure the rack of lamb and bean ragout was G F. But we came home and I promptly hurled for 3 hours. My body...
  22. Laura, I usually make a quick ratatouille with zucchini, but you could just make Zu-noodles. I have a craving for veal parmesan and I have not made sauce for ages, laying off tomatoes for a while so I can stop feeling like crap, so that's what's happening today. Fingers crossed they like me again. I found this pasta at Whole Foods and I'll give it...
  23. LMAO meh! what's a stray fingernail chip in the stuffing amongst family and friends??! If you don't cut, burn or bruise something while creating, you ain't a pro. You should see my friend Babs' arms (professional chef/caterer) Yikes....totally scarred from burns. I only have 2. I do have a finger with permanent nerve damage from a horrible knife cut one...
