  1. I was a serious baker and I did not use my rolling pin 2-3 times a month. I used it 2-3 times a year. TOPS. So, maybe our definitions of "serious baker" do not mesh. and I think your sweetie is very right in the head, IMHO. He'll be thrilled to know I said this, I am sure. There's more to enjoy in the dessert world than pie. in fact, pie......
  2. That's nothing to be ashamed of. How often does anyone use a rolling pin? the holidays....so, you're just in time. So, do you want a giraffe cookie cutter? huh huh, do ya??
  3. I am so glad you are feeling better and this sounds like a BLAST! I wish I could go out and play with you tonight. I am excited because we found a Whole Paycheck right near a new place for lunch This guy does a great job and makes the most ridiculously yummy salads, lettuce cups.wraps, handmade chocolates and ice cream (yes, that vegan/non dairy/gluten...
  4. no, but I bet someone on here has
  5. I received some Pamela's baking mixes from a friend. I looked up some recipes and since I had some remnant chicken in the house, I made this http://www.pamelasproducts.com/cheesy-chicken-crumble/ It was pretty good. not my chicken pot pie, but GOOD! . The hubs is having a second helping as we speak......
  6. Just happened to see your blog entry and may I make a suggestion? What about the book and blog Gluten Free on a Shoestring? http://glutenfreecooking.about.com/od/glutenfreecookbooks/gr/Book-Review-Of-Gluten-Free-On-A-Shoestring-By-Nicole-Hunn.htm Just a thought! Cheers, IH

    Day Four

I do not think you are experiencing "IBS" --it's probably the gluten, hon.
  8. hahaha! thanks for that giggle, Addy! I made quinoa and black bean stuffed peppers and I have to say, they were awesome. I made a triple batch. My very sweet neighbors (and temporary landlords) have gone G F and my physical therapist and her hubs are also G F so I figured they all work hard and maybe I could share.
  9. I have tried 5 flavors so far, that one's still the fave thus far.
  10. well, that's an interesting theory even though you know full well calories are calories, whether you sneak them slowly or not. I just eat my half of the container on Sunday night and I'm happy..
  11. nope. If I ate gelato every night, I'd be ginormous.I have to be a little restrained. I have gained enough weight, thanks.
  12. oh dear gawd, that's me....the hubs starts with the jibber jabber and I just tell him what I have told him from the very first day he introduced me to using the internet "oh babes, all I'm hearing is "blahdey blahdey bloop and yer making my eahs hurt (still have heavy Boston accent emerge when I am agitated --and I mean agitiated in both good and bad...
  13. yup-plastic sheet protectors here too. I always slop on them
  14. I give the big thumbs up on 3- ring binders for recipes. I had one before DX and it's still got all my tried and true ones in there (I did have to discard some gluteny stuff...mutter mutter.....) But I've got one now for just gluten-free baked goods/breads/pizza doughs, etc I call that one the thunder thighs binder.
  15. if it makes you feel better, that's what happens if I get hit. Not the same as when first DXed when I'd be sidelined for weeks. The muscle pain ramps up to 10 and I get burning nerve and skin pain, a bunch of sores on my face and scalp, I feel off balance and awkward (more awkward than usual lol) , the fatigue is unbeleivable and I want to punch people...
  16. Oh, she could make it right apparently---my hubs and my Dad loved it. I just do not like toms in my mac and cheese. at least your MIL acknowledges your talented cooking skills. my first MIL LOVED me and my cooking. I was an angel in her eyes. MIL #2? er, nothing about me was right. may she rest in peace.
  17. K Great idea for the soups and chili thread. I'll cut and paste a few there. and kudos on posting a pic. Cupcakes look de-lish!! The Atlanta brisket I made (I saw it on Cook's country) was really good and the meat was fork tender.I served it with smashed potatoes and steamed English peas. Thursday, it made a delicious brisket sammy on the rolls...
  18. I know it is not the same as being on the beach, but I tried to paste a picture from this morning's sunrise here for you, but I failed miserably. Sorry. darn my poor techie skills!
  19. low or no humidity in fall, winter, spring. Honest, If my hair is not kinky-curling, it's not humid. It's not kinking. And I'm not sticking around for the very hot sticky stuff. That's when I am going North.
  20. This another reason why you could easily live with me. I am an "idea person". I love to come up with creative ideas for food--and drinks--and, I do not even mind washing dishes. But, if you will help chop and dice and lift crap our of the oven for me (because you know my shoulders are bad) well, we'd be a match made in heaven. Yes, take 2 cookies,...
  21. now, now, now....if yer gonna use that, you need to put @IrishHeart. copyright laws, and all. just sayin. Ok, now who's the wisacre who posted a delicious bagel recipe? I can't believe we are being challenged this way. Never got those muumuus and I have to walk on a beach for the love of mike and I can't be blobbing around like a giant giraffe-sized...
  22. I am sure you will find ways to amuse yourself. I made escarole and white bean soup tonight. Simple and tasty.
