Dinner on Fridays is always golf day, so that means pizza, but not today .....as I too, have had a few bumps lately so I am KISSing myself (keeping it simple stupid) so I can also feel as good as I was feeling pre...

  3. non-chalant and graceful, I am sure!! Addy...we've got another Lucy Ricardo here! yes, I remember fish boy. I have "meat counter guy" myself. He actually looks past others and asks me what I would like today? (even when I am not first in line)...he told me 15 years ago that he likes me best because the first time I came in, I asked "May I have.....
  4. hahahaha OMG I have this great image of you loading the cart, sunglasses on ,...music from a spy movie....lobster tails hanging out of every trench coat pocket, sticking out of your shirt where you have shoved them down there face first.......and speedily checking them out at the self-check register before the frozen food dept. manager realizes his magnificent...
  5. Happy anniversary Ski and Mr. Ski!! xx Holy cow--you guys look gorgeous!! Yes, we are very blessed to have men who stood by us in sickness and in health and who still look at us with non-judgemental eyes of love...... (as we look at them.... even when they occasionally do things to irritate the crap out of us) Enjoy dinner! We...
  6. Casseroles, chilis, or stews. Makes enough for several days..(yup, I saw Ski's response on the garden thread...and I agree completely!) Here's one idea. Turkey Chili—fast, easy, delicious and full of protein and fiber. Takes @ 30 minutes start to finish. Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil 1 large onion, finely chopped 1 red bell pepper, seeded a...
  7. My mom is what I call a "utilitarian cook". Basics. That's it. No real use of herbs and spices. Nothing creative. And certainly, no garlic or cheese. No sauces or marinades. No homemade dressings or baked goods. and yes, you read that correctly......my mom hates garlic and cheese (GASP!) Also, mushrooms, shallots, and wine. I never had lasagne until I...
  8. Well ...what would you call "an ingredients list and a temperature gauge/time frame for making meatballs" when telling someone new to this how to make them? Directions? I would not call what I do to make them a "recipe" per se...it's not written down or anything and I have done it a thousand times, but the things we do so easily now were once taught to...
  9. Meatballs Similar to Ski's....., except I use a combo of ground beef, ground pork & ground veal (ask the butcher at the store for "meatloaf mix" ) In addition to what she puts in hers, I add some grated parmesan and parsley to my meatballs and I bake them on a tray for 20 minutes in the oven at 350. Then, I add them to my sauce.

  11. haloumi....drooool yum and lamb is my favorite thing and if you lived closer, I'd be barging through the door right now, just to smell your kitchen. You may want chicken alfredo (hell, I want chicken alfredo!!) but you are not going to have it because you are avoiding aged cheese right now for a good cause. (I am helping, not nagging! :) )...

  13. - Gluten challenges in children with Celiac Disease may increase the risk of the development of additional autoimmune disorders, such as type 1 diabetes… And yet, many pediatric GIs will insist upon this step as part of the diagnosis. Thanks for posting this informative article, Jess.
  14. "A room without books is like a body without a soul. " I refuse to give up my book for a Nook. I am a dinosaur. I like holding it, smelling it and turning the pages. I have so many books, I have started donating them and giving them away (gasp!) because they will cost me a fortune to ship to Florida. I can't believe I am letting some of them go.......
  15. I can only ice pack the back of neck, take mega-advil, lie down and stay in a quiet dark room when I have a migraine. And cry. because those things suck and of all the pain I have, I can take it like a warrior, but I cannot take pain in the head!! That one just breaks me down...argh.... Hope you feel better soon xx

  18. I read a story once where the woman clunked her hubs over the head with a leg of lamb, killing him instantly. She cooked it up and served it to the investigating officers who promptly ate the evidence. I found that disturbingly clever (and once thought about using that plan years ago.....but decided I should just get a divorce instead.) anyhoo The...
