  1. Now, QUICK! throw salt over your shoulder, spit through your forked fingers and spin around twice and say "UnJinx, UnJInx, boing boing boing" (it won't help, but it makes me giggle picturing you doing it.)
  2. er, um.....wasn't it you who told me NOT to say things like this??? You'll jinx yourself, babes!
  3. Do I need to remind you that you should take PRObiotics after this round of antibiotics, young lassie ? No, I didn't think so; you're no dummy. I can loan you an umbrella, Calamity Jane (that was my nickname, but I am giving it to you) Dinner tonight will be burgers and sweet potato fries and if anyone wants to help us throw stuff into a dumpster...
  4. That's because those of us who actually find things that are GF and TASTY aren't leaving any scraps behind, buddy!
  5. When I was little, I didn't like much of anything (or would eat the same thing over and over again) I ate PB and strawberry J sammies for lunch for 3 years straight, or so my Mom claims. Actually, Grover is my favorite muppet (Oscar is runner-up) Hey hey hey... Knock it off with all the mac of cheese chatter , please. Some of us can't have aged...
  6. crappers!! now me want cookie too!! coo-kie!!!! The one I have is smaller( 3 quarts, I believe) and it does indeed travel well.
  7. I decided to try the crockpot thinger again. I do not remember to use it very often because until this year, I never used one in my life and frankly, I forget I own it. I did a split up chicken, cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms and onions combo in there and it smells pretty good, actually. Probably have smashed potatoes or rice with it. This is...
  8. sounds like "more" --as in gimme more!!!! I love asparagus.I love oysters.
  9. Honey, SkiLIsa and I may need to talk with you about histamine intolerance. Avocado is high in histamine and could be a major problem. If you are having the "burnies and tinglies" just like I get, I fear you may well have what we have. I know you can't do tyramine, and the other "amines" may also be involved. I have not said anything, but this revelation...
  10. This is one of the many reasons why I LOVE my GI doc. He asks me " How are you" and actually listens to my answer. He finishes our meeting with an eager smile and "well, do you have any articles for me to read and give to my patients?" And, I always do! I know, he's an enigma .....and I'm keeping him for the rest of my days. (even when I move to another...
  11. Absolutely true. They do their best, but eating out is a crap shoot. I am very exact with my requests to waitstaff and/or the chef in about a dozen restaurants and I have been lucky ( I have been burned only once. It was a 99 restaurant. Yet, the week before, I went unscathed. Same place.) I have yet to try a Chipotle, but the celiacs I know who...
  12. It should not hurt. But I understand if you balk at it. (I had the same thing happen and the salt sped up the healing) Take care, honey! G'night
  13. good movie! So sorry you feel so sore, hon. Are you doing warm water and salt swishes? Trust me, it helps heal and soothe.
  14. aw, I feel the same way when my baby makes burgers on da grill . We had beans and greens soup and veggie rolls ups for dinner tonight and I am coming out of my sad coma. I do not want to get into a "political" discussion at all, so please, no one start with me...but the President did a wonderful job today in Boston. I am grateful. Boston Strong.
  15. MW The American comedians often rag on the state of teeth in the UK, which I find unfunny. Do you think perhaps there is more widespread unDXed coeliac (see what I did there ) by any chance? I mean, why would one population have such a hard time with their teeth? I'm just speculating here. Interestingly enough, I read THIS article about celiac...
  16. oh goodie, dental work is always such a joy. I spent 2 years and about $ 12K correcting what celiac had done to my once beautiful teeth. grumble grumble (I am having a grumble day today, don't mind me.....just walking through the kitchen in my jammies here.....any ice cream around??? hand me that spoon, Addy. Thank yew.) Meatza sounds good to me...
  17. Thanks for that thought, dear Ski. True words. Good always triumphs evil. Always. This madness is just making me sick....
  18. yes, I see what you did there, you sillypants!! mmmmm donuts..(if I tried every recipe that sounds good, I'd be the size of Cleveland) . Hey Guys Hate to be all serious, but can you all take a second to say a quick prayer for my homies in Boston? Thanks. This is all very disturbing. It's a civic holiday there (Patriots Day) with a Red Sox...
  19. Okay, that Easter bread looks really drool-worthy.
  20. no, huh? something like "the three stooges plan a kidnapping"? I just love your menu (and life) updates--always so yummy ( and newsy) Gonna check out that Easter bread.on The Baking Beauties (it's a great website, BTW)
  21. SKI Good luck with the appropriate home-hunting for your Mom. I was incredibly lucky (read as: pushy but charming and right place/ right time) when doing this for MIL#1, MIL#2, and Dad. This is the time in our lives when the children become the parents. sigh. Have a glass of something (and one for me) when you get home. MW & Addy the hubs dips...
  22. Slightly salted fish and chips here too. I tried the malt vinegar years ago when in Ireland, but I did not care for it. However (pronounced howevah) Bostonians, nay all New Englandahs I know high -dose ketchup and tartar sauce on nearly everything that comes out of the deep fry-ah. 'tis a shame really, but I think most of my family does not really...
  23. yeah, but wouldn't it be funny if we actually COULD do this?? we'd all probably pee ourselves laughing so hard.
