  1. I concur, Robin! SKI, my friend, Not in a gazillion years would I make that thing. I applaud you for your willingness to tackle anything. (in the kitchen or in the world) I thought making Dacquoise was the mother of all baking projects requiring gymnastics and patience, (or maybe rolling out layers of phyllo for baklava--OHMYGAWWWD--- you need...
  2. Holy smokes. Peter ducked in for dinner! Hi P!! They'll be awesome, Alex! Fingers crossed, but for me, ganache makes everything taste like... MORE!! I can smell it, too. Must be drifting over the ocean....... Well, the gang that stays here in the complex has invited us out to join them for dinner. I checked and the place has a gluten...
  3. Hooray for Mom coming home, Ski. Have a wonderful celebration! You're being creative again, I see: Cranberry-Strawberry Charlotte Rousse? Hooray for Sylvia dropping back in for dinner! (and we look forward to dinner at your place on our way home to NY!!) Sylvia has graciously invited us to stay--and has already planned what we are having for dinner...
  4. You're preaching to the choir, kiddo. . One should never, ever apologize for food snobbiness. I "get it" and I bet LOVE2 is nodding her pretty head enthusiastically in total, unashamed and unapologetic agreement.
  5. hmm, SKI ...seems strange they feel better in gluten-free land, huh?? ...hmmm....1 + 1 =2 I gave SYLVIA a shout out. Maybe she will pop her head back in. She is still on "here", just not on "here". I miss her sage words (and sharp humor) too. SYLVIA--get yer butt back in the dinner crowd. YO ADDY! You can make your own taco seasoning and...
  6. you ain't kiddin' sister........ and plenty o' spaces for building a G F compound....
  7. ...now, that does sound exciting! mould clearing...wow....wish I lived closer so I could come and help! (just teasing --as I know laughter heals boo-boos) Up watching the sunrise and your post made me giggle.xx Going for some type of fish tonight (shellfish for the hubs) --we'll see what's fresh at the ironically named New England Fish Market nearby...
  8. MW OUCH!! I hate those noggin whacks. Are you okay?? Did you look like this when it happened? Poor babe. I have hit my head more times than I should admit. Open cabinets doors left open, misjudging the height/depth of something, that sort of thing. I blame gluten head. It has not happened in a while (I said that and then, spit for good luck as surely...
  9. I think by now, we all know this....bacon goes with everything!! ADDY The warm sunshine, ocean air and seeing my best friend does indeed agree with me....more than I can adequately say. The constant muscle/joint/bone pain level I deal with daily? Well, it went from an "ok, I'm smiling through the pain because no one likes a whiner level" 7 to a"...
  10. The squeal heard as far away as Florida! yaay!! . I missed something, I'm sure--- but what bread was it that made you so excited? Costco chicken is safe, then.... good to know. Last night, we had amazingly succulent stone crab claws, roasted asparagus and the last encore piece of flourless chocolate cake. I let the big guy have most of it (the night...
  11. SKI!! Holy mackeral!! that cake is awesome. We can add cake decorator to your many mad skills. Cool beans, little sister! I cracked up yesterday when my friend's 96 year old mom licked the spoon, her fingers and the plate !! after she finished her piece of flourless chocolate cake. Talk about enjoying the crap out of every single moment. I hope to be her...
  12. MW Sorry you got "got". Darn soy. I avoid it, too.Not hard to give up for me, really--not a soy fan, but it is pervasive. I have used Coconut aminos for an adequate soy sauce sub. Just a suggestion. xx http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-94720-coconut-secret-raw-coconut-aminos-soy-free-seasoning-sauce-8-oz?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=fpl&...
  13. Crazy (and totally wrong) Irish toast I saw recently. Given the proclivity for the Irish to have celiac (so much so that they dub it "celtic disease") I find it bizarrely ironic. (but I have a twisted sense of humor as you know) Knew you guys would find it funny.Cheers! "Rye bread will do you good, Barley bread will do you no harm, Wheaten bread...
  14. Happy Birthday, LOVE!!2 and my special wish for you this year (as it is for every single day) is for less pain. So sorry you took a spill. Make sure you get that inflammation down with " Ice, ice baby." (if any of you recognized that as a song by Vanilla Ice from the 90's---well, you're old. ) SKI The Redbridge will do for brining that beef, but J...
  15. ADDY Awesome giraffe covers, girl! I am lucky I can sew on a button. SKI I think I expressed my outrage about the bike thief clearly enough over email, but I'll add one more &^%$! to the tirade. asshat thief. MINDWARP Having some continued success adding foods back in down here, (brown rice and all fruits seem okay) but still unable to...
  16. I have a secret L2T Batman signal that I can light up. Instead of a giant bat, it's shaped like a chef's hat I'll give her a shout. She usually house sits (but she is not in Croatia this month, I do not believe.) I worry about her when she is gone for a few weeks because I know that means her pain level is up, that brave girl. Back to earth yesterday...
  17. This past week was a food festival. Still avoiding high histamine foods, except for that margarita I just downed, but managed to eat out at 3 highly recommended gluten-free places: Bonefish Grill in VA, FL and 2 places in the Keys. Marker 88 and Chef Michael's. Grilled Chilean Sea Bass with mango salsa Herbed jasmine rice, asparagus (I had that twice...
  18. Happy Anniversary, my friend........you are so inspirational and I'm ecstatic we are "getting back" instead of continually "taking out". Rock on, sister--enjoy that walk!! xx
  19. Always. Total appreciation for every single sunrise! Every little activity, indeed, like swimming with dolphins this morning. They gave me kisses, Addy..They jumped through a hoop for me. They let me stroke their bellies. They danced and "sang" for me--as I was in the circle and the dolphins chittered and people sang Happy Birthday...
  20. I think I just heard a squeal of delight over here in my hotel in Georgia. Was it the sound of victory over 'da lentils? I had white beans in a white chili last night that we brought with us, so I see your lentil and raise you a white bean. Lisa, this is how we reclaim our lives--one stinkin legume at a time! So excited for you, sweets ---...
  21. Addy, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, sweets! xx K, my portable kitchen was devised by reading your suggestions last year and adding the Koolatron. Plus, I also found a cool collapsible colander. Less awkward to transport. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00886546000P?sid=IDx01192011x000001&kispla=00886546000P&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=30...
  22. One last check in before we go, just to say: yaay for no glutenings on the road, Mindwarp, my buddyl!! good on you. yaay for finding guava leaves and white tea, Ski!! Let's hope they do some magic. I'll find some in FLA. and yaay for being a veteran and packing up a portable kitchen. This year was so simple compared to last year. The traveling...
  23. Thanks, Addy! I am looking forward to it, despite my less than enthusiastic "tone" right now. Man, this thing really knocked me down, but not out. Hope you feel better very soon!.
  24. Getting some appetite back (yaay!) so Hamburgers and sweet potato fries tonight. I'm just making whatever is in the freezer the next 2 days, because we're packing up to be gone for 5 weeks. I think this viral gastroenteritis is about gone (vanished that thinger with serious mega- doses of probiotics!) and we head out Thursday AM. I do hope...
  25. I agree. I never like to say how long it has taken me to get relief from the excruciating muscle and bone/joint pain I have from celiac because I know I am not the norm. Most people see significant improvement in weeks or even a few months. I'm 2 years post-DX and still struggle, and I have had intense physical therapy and massages all this time. I...
