  1. Updated 2/1/13 An excellent resource for celiacs ( Honestly wish I had found it 2 years ago--would have saved me a lot of research time!!) Still plenty in it for me to learn. Articles by more than 50 international experts. Not "too techie", short enough chapters ... and very enlightening. Covers just about everything imaginable: the disease itself...
  2. That sounds yummy, K. I'm going out on a ledge tonight and trying: Quinoa and black bean stuffed peppers tonight. Making some bread for the hubs today: Bette Hagman's Four Flour Blend. (it's very good) For SuperBowl, I am thinking turkey soup and wings--but maybe honey glazed instead of "hot"? Don't want to screw up my progress .
  3. Thanks so much, hon! You're inspirational too ---as I know what you have done to get you and your family feeling well! xx
  4. WHOOHOO! Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The strangest "mixed blessing" I can report is that while eating so much spinach, tomatoes, fish, avocado, strawberries, etc, I learned I have a histamine intolerance...I know, how is that a whoohoo exactly ? --well, this is actually good news as both SkiLisa and I have it and we both researched it and we have compared...
  5. Congrats, Shroom! ---you prompted a full -on laptop drool this morning. (we don't need it either in this house, but it is good to indulge, yes?)
  6. Yeah, it's not pretty when I get all 3 year- old-ish....and, say! buddy 'o mine....technically it's tomorrow when we indulge...so, there's still time!! Wouldn't your gob drop open if I showed up on your doorstep tomorrow afternoon for teatime.
  7. yaay! and I agree--day 2 is always better for soup, stew, lasagne, whatevs.... Enjoy!
  8. Whew...that could have been cause for a kiddie uprising!! I'd have bawled my eyes out if you offered it, then said "sorry, none left". of course, I have put my yogurt in the freezer for a while and had "frozen yogurt"...sort of....
  9. Tonight's dinner: I've got a Turkey breast on the rotisserie spaghetti squash maybe some peas for a change? I am so proud of you, MW. You never wavered once in your resolve. (you know I had to mix it up a bit when I had to delete the high histamine foods, but you supported me too!) and so, I am very excited for you that you have reached your...
  10. Do not throw this kind of invite out to this crazy bunch....I just asked the hubs if he could do without me for a month as I looked at plane fares.... Lucky for you, he said "Not really".
  11. Hon, I think maybe you misunderstood what I meant. I am not saying you should eat things that make you sick! NO way!! I am saying that what she said was not "wrong" about some things. That's all. NO ONE should eat things that give them anaphylaxis!! I had terrible throat closing, choking, trouble swallowing and swelling in my face before...
  12. Oh hon, I love you madly, but .....absolutely not. No one--and I mean no one--- should live where it is MINUS anything. yeah! what she said! Cilantro makes almost everything yummy. I love the stuff. I grow it all summer. Girl, you make everything sound good--even on a restricted diet. And coconut oil loves you...
  13. Actually, hon IMHO, your dietician makes some sense. It is okay to add dairy back in if you want. Some celiacs can tolerate diary right away. Used to be, docs suggested 3-6 months. Now, it's "whenever you want to try it." The vast majority of celiacs do not have trouble with corn or other grains ( if you do, yes, keep it out!!!).. And she's right...
  14. I have never seen foam like that. I have seen foam on the beach, but that is some pretty wild stuff. And yes, MW I am practicing my dolphin.....and all the lights are on. I could probably guide a jetliner in at this point. Maybe be mistaken for a lighthouse...... (ever see the Brenda Blythen movie w/Craig Ferguson "Saving Grace"...the lights they have...
  15. No no no, sweets....I sent it East...towards NE and out to sea, one hopes. Supposed to be 50 here tomorrow. I'll believe that when I see it..
  16. Shroom, what's with the foam down there? saw it on the news....
  17. seriously....I need some sunshine and I need it bad.
  18. Pink sneet indeed!--that would be grand! Thing 1 and 2 could lend a hand. To wash it all away from sight. But feets of snow upon the jeep requires more--it is too deep! We need canana boyz with might. Shovel here and shovel there... behold! the driveway now is clear! and Addy chuckled with delight. I must be going mad you see to write such...
  19. Well, I am mourning the loss of the very cool show "Fringe" last Friday, but at least the powers that be had the decency to reward the loyal fans of 5 years with a satisfactory ending. Sorry, guys. It is nasty cold and gray here and sneeting (that's sleet and snow) and just plain ick...gawd, where's the freakin SUN????? Time for something different...
  20. Here's Ski now! there's one thing that remains the same...the student who takes great notes always did well in my classes. Dinosaurs like us always do just fine! My oldest student was 78. She was awesome and made me strawberry jam at the end of the semester. Enjoy the class and have fun! You keep amazing us all with your miraculous rebound and I...
  21. Now, if I had eaten the shrooms, the tomatoes, the tuna and anchovies with you, I would have burst into histamine flames. (as much as I love those things, I cannot have them. bummer!) Dinner tonight was a little egg salad for hubs and absolutely nothing for me. Why, you ask? Because lunch was roast beef w/ au jus, sweet potatoes and carrots at...
  22. C, Those sound so YUMMMMMY!
  23. Be sure to tell him "hold the bread" on yours ( apparently, he serves it with bread and thick tomato slices) One lady was making YUM YUM sounds on camera, so it must be good.
  24. Yo Ski! While watching the Travel Channel today, I saw a place called Hash House A Go Go in SD. He's big on bacon and even serves a BLT Mary (a bloody Mary BLT) That would be fun, except his place looks like gluten hell--all those waffles and such. Dinner tonight: Pork tenderloin with onions Applesauce Roasted root veggies Also: I...
  25. yes, it's one of those Murphy's law-type thingers.. Ditto! I loves me some root veggies (with a little wine and brussel sprouts thrown in but please hold the tomatoes for me) What a sweet Mom/Gramma! Those Schar choc- dipped cookies are pretty tasty. I had them once and thought, okay, maybe it is best if they are not around...
