  1. okay, I made a Bday dinner for my bestie tonight. All her faves: santa marghuerita prosecco duck pate, brie , fruit, crackers Potato gratin asparagus Filet of beef tenderloin studded with garlic and draped with bacon Port wine sauce with mushrooms Tiramisu and we decanted a bottle of Taylor Fladgate Port from 1994 that we have stored since I bought...
  2. What she said DItto!!! I was gluten-free, DF, EF, SF, and few more "something-effs"at one point and still managed to eat and gain some serious hip and butt cushion, too. .
  3. Hon, tapioca starch based recipes are not at all low carb.
  4. Sorry. I did not know you were talking about 5-egg type recipes. Look around the internet, The vegan sites may be able to help
  5. But, you can just use an egg substitute or some other liquid. You can still use coconut flour. believe me, someone has thought of a sub for EVERYTHING! http://www.egglesscooking.com/egg-substitutes/ http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/resourcespre.php?id=104
  6. EGGsactly! beary Smart bear.
  7. the only things that are really different (time wise) are the bread baking times and pastas. And the pasta cooking times that are 'true' to the cooking time on the labels....are rare, IMHO. Tinkyada - cook it 13 mins, and it's done (No matter what the label says) (note; this is not my fave pasta, but many people like it) I do like the lasagna noodles...
  8. ??? the Spag should not be merely "sticky and ok". It should be delicious. What brand are you using? how long did you cook it? ...those 2 things will make or break our enjoyment of pasta
  9. and I will reiterate what I said recently on another seemingly " innocent post" asking about pineapple until it became a giant bag of paranoia. No one is discounting anyone's discomfort from eating eggs. Not at all! We all recognize other food intolerances (I have some myself!) and a histamine intolerance. (I could not eat eggs for YEARS) ...
  10. While I raise my glass to you as you celebrate your good news, may I suggest some protein and carbs with that wine? lol cheese and quackers, perhaps? xxoo
  11. This is a celiac forum with a sub section for "super sensitives". i am a sensitive celiac...meaning I do react horribly to trace gluten. I am discussing this with you. But here is one simple fact: there is no gluten in eggs, period. Sorry. People continue to post the 1 article that involves soy protein and Jane Anderson (the author of the article...
  12. Let's just cut to the chase here. Eggs from chickens or meat from animals....all gluten free. University of Chicago Celiac Disease Research Center Should someone with celiac disease worry about eating grain-fed meat? Grain-fed animal by-products (eggs, meat, etc.) do not have to be avoided for people on a gluten-free diet. Regardless of what...
  13. This leads me to ask.....so, I guess those are certified gluten free oats those chickens are eating?
  14. There is absolutely no scientific evidence that chickens somehow "pass" gluten into their eggs, despite what some people say on the internet. Believe me, I have looked. Enjoy those eggs!
  15. Thanks for the review!! I may give them a try after I return from my trip north next week.
  16. Those look good, Laura--like the ones my friend with the gluten-free bakery in NY makes. I wonder how they do with shipping to FL...looks like they do it with dry ice. So, is it worth the cost for me to give them a try? Do you give them 5 stars? If I'm going to add more weight to MY buns, I want it to be for a 5- star bun.
  17. love love love to hear this kind of story ( and I am .beyond happy FOR you!! )
  18. I'm old school...I still like to roll my enchiladas...cuz, it's how I roll....get it? get it..wha??
  19. I would suggest no cheating, but that's just my opinion. But maybe you have your reasons. and it's none of my business. so I'll zip it. lol Last night, we had chicken enchiladas with salsa verde. Ski, I guess our working theory about tomatillos not bothering me was solid! hey, if any of you can't "do tomatoes" right now for whatever reason, tomatillos...
  20. Use your inside voice, young lady! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your unicorn, honey...forgot to say that earlier!! I use Against the Grain baguettes. They are in the freezer section. Bring to room temp, slice on a bit of a diagonal to give you a decent hors d'oeurve size. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, then brush the slices with EVOO, sprinkle with...
  21. No! you're not the boss of me. fried children..do they come with thai sweet chili sauce? yum my mother used to say "knock it off..! go outside and play!.don't make me come in there or I'll give you something to occupy those hands...." and we all scattered before she even got in the room.
  22. I need to make you mine Jenny, don't change your number 8675309 Soooo... had a great time with the neighbors on Sat. Night. They came for drinks and apps at 4:30 and stayed until 9. Now, those are MY kind of peeps....... lots of laughs. She's a doll. She brought me a basil plant. And they both "get celiac" and what gluten free means --we only...
