  1. Copyrighted by IrishHeart 2011 first used in a conversation with EatMeat4Good. (she'll vouch for me) I call what I lived in Gluten Head Hell (will probably be the title of my book.) Cracked up my GI doc with that one. He asked if he "could use it". I said "Go for it dude" but give me props when you do. . (not really funny back then...
  2. We loved the time Red had to stop eating bacon on "That 70s Show "and Eric kept eating it in front of him and taunting him with it..."mm,,,ba-con"--emphasis on the second syllable, as if he were French. Thanks to all this bacon chatter, tonight's dinner: Maple mustard chicken thighs with carmelized onion and BACON. Baked acorn squash we'll...
  3. I have never met anyone who did not like bacon. Really. Bacon is yummy.
  4. I have gone "primal" now--- to try and alleviate inflammation, so I made: Roasted pork loin Garlicky sweet potato fries Spinach salad
  5. There are many articles about neurological impairment, gluten ataxia and celiac. I think it may be both ---autoimmunity and the complications of long term UnDXed celiac disease and malabsorption. Many vitamin, mineral and amino acid deficiencies can cause memory issues.. I had so many of them myself for 3 horrible years and suffered what I call "gluten...

  7. Updated 11/1/12 by IrishHeart A list of symptoms and conditions associated with Celiac from the Univ. of Chicago Celiac Disease Center (adapted from Cleo J. Libonati's book Recognizing Celiac Disease) I had dozens of symptoms myself and found that most short lists do not include them all. This may help. http://www.curecelia...SymptomList.pdf
  8. One could interpret this two ways, Bunz.....in either case, Mazel Tov!
  9. Absurdly delicious. Thanks for the suggestion. I used this: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/09/2008_the_year_of_the_pot_roast/ I did not shred the meat or make mashed potatoes (just boiled new potatoes) and it was YUMSTERS!!! yes, I used the red wine....

  12. Herb-encrusted/marinated pork tenderloin Roasted acorn squash that's it....that's all I got. (I ate too much this weekend on Cape Cod. If you go there, go to The Naked Oyster in Hyannis. Chef is gluten-free and the food....will make you sing. )
  13. I ALWAYS stand up for people on this site. Do you even know me? Then you would know this for sure! I validated her feelings, hon...over and over. I said she had "real symptoms".. ..didn't I? Please read what I said carefully. The very reason why we are sick and grasp for "straws"-- is the very reason why we come to this site. TO...
  14. ooooo, no, sweets, gosh! I wish I could take credit fer that kind o'cleverness...but I was so stuck on "winging" an such, that honestly, chickie, it was a slip o' the beak.
  15. Seems a bit sweet for me, too (eek) ....I may have to wing it, too. ...lemme know what all yer "winging" produces....with all this winging and flappin, we could be in Costa Rica for the winter with the hummingbirds.

  17. Got one here ,too, MW. I sneak them in by braising them with bacon, shallots and some sherry, broth and herbs and chestnuts when we can get them. I do not get it; he likes cabbage enough. I love them! I love swede, too. In fact, I never met a cruciferous or root veggie I did not like. I'm making: Quinoa stuffed peppers tonight...
  18. well, I do have to travel an hour to see him, but not as far as NV. thank heavens. (you're still there, right? not NZ) Okay, if I get to it first, I'll let you know--and vice versa, deal?
  19. Really? None of us can know how someone actually feels and you are just playing semantics here. I have tried to help everyone see all sides and many of us have tried to help the OP figure out what reasonably may have made her ill so she could avoid it in the future. That's what motivates me to reply in threads, to try and help, not to attack or argue...
  20. wow, I saw that recipe too, shroom--in the doc's waiting room. Ladies Home Journal, maybe? I dunno.... anyhoo...Maple cream and acorn squash and thought, well, that could be yummy. So....how was it?
  21. Sorry you feel that way. I agree with you completely! Some people do come off as rude in their delivery and we do try to keep that in check. But I guess I just do not agree with you that the OP was attacked. That is a strong word ---and if it had happened, I would have been one of the first ones to have stepped in. This is just my humble...
  22. Your analysis tries to look at all sides and is very gracious. Number 3 may well be the most telling--as it supports what many have said to her. Number 2 is the primary reason why many members responded. The members acknowledged her reactions as being real. The members offered rational reasons for why she may feel that way (CC from gluten exposure...
  23. Not my favorite part either, but at least this year, I am well enough to help again. whoohoo! Slow cooker being put to work again (you guys have me convinced-- it is a GREAT idea!) Pork ribs, sauerkraut, potatoes , onions all seasoned with peppercorns, caraway, bay, juniper berries and some white wine. I found this recipe on Chowhound. ...
