  1. Yes, pluots are the same. Pluots, apriums, apriplums, or plumcots, are some of the hybrids. Hubs is working on the front porch in this heat. He's getting: Potato salad Burgers on CHEBE rolls and fruit salad for dessert.
  2. actually, there are a few more herbs than that. And they better NOT be "left over french beans", I paid a lot for that bag! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Haricots-Verts-with-Herb-Butter-240576
  3. Starting to get humid here, too. May be 90 tomorrow. Taco salad might be tomorrow's dinner. Thanks for the idea.
  4. Sweetie, you have absolutely NOTHING to apologize for. You only answered a question! You did not steer the discussion off topic. You're fine! and dinner sounds GREAT!!
  5. It's a hybrid of plums and apricots, I believe, but I should let LOVE2 tell you. I am guessing she's probably up to her elbows in jam preparation.
  6. I actually like this thread so much BECAUSE we chit chat with each other just a little and then, say what's for dinner, then someone else comes on and chit chats some more and says what's for dinner. It's always on topic, therefore, and it does not really wander that far off at all and always comes right back to...What's for dinner! So here's what...
  7. you betcha! I just "call 'em as I see 'em"
  8. Kids can be cruel, but they do not know any better. I know this is hard sometimes, sweetie, but in the end, as long as SHE does not think it is "weird" or "different", she can just blow it off. I commend you for all you are doing: going back to school, raising your kids well and re-learning how to cook gluten-free for your family. You're doing a...
  9. Congrats on her trophy! and congrats to YOU for making her day so special! Hon, you guys have got to stop thinking of the food you eat as "different". Who's to say it's not THEIR food that's different!! No need to explain anything to anyone. YOU guys eat healthy. Glad you guys has a GREAT day!!! yaaay!!!!

  11. You can work around it, I do!!.... and it may just be temporary!!
  12. They will be GREAT!! Brownies....yum
  13. Take the onion out and it still works! (I only do it for the contrast taste--the sweet vadalia or red onion, but it is it not essential) And hon..."CREATIVE" happens EVERY time you cook!! You create something from nothing, right? RIGHT !!
  14. LOVEY! I love that you still treat yourself-- as you should--even when you are (temporarily) cooking for one. I GET that! Cheers, hon!!
  15. I'll just have to get some beef dogs and try this. I like the Applegate farms meats (no TJ's here yet) Thanks, Bun We had giant burgers and sweet potato fries at the gluten-free cafe near us today for lunch (can you say STUFFED? ) so, dinner will be LIGHT: Chicken salad (I make mine with dried cranberries, celery, onion, walnuts and diced...
  16. Agree. The tom sauce one needs tweaking (pepperoni for the hubs, bacon and carmelized onions for me) but the onion & sausage on the pesto sounds good. Chebe dogs, eh? I haven't had a dog in years...maybe it's time? For Chebe pizza, I do a 4-cheese white ZA (as we call it)--an olive oil swish over it, then, ricotta, mozz, smoked provolone and shaved...
  17. yes, I do!! Thanks for the tip, Bun. I'll do that next time! I use the Chebe mixes sometimes and I love the ATG stuff, so Thankyew veddy much, Ma'am!!! Last time, I made that white pesto pizza and topped it with all the vegs left in the fridge, (roasted peppers, shallots, asparagus tips, portabellas) and it was crazy good.
  18. See, hon--I told you this would get easier! And you're being schooled by some real masters here!! It's like going to the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) for free! (or the Canadian equivalent) Glad to see you're doing better. and NO croutons!! How did your consomme turn out?
  19. Not sure what possessed me since it was beautifully warm today, but I made a Burgundy Beef Stew Brazilian cheese rolls and the neighboring farm has Fresh Strawberries --yum Hubs was golfing and I was cleaning the house all day long (oh, all right, I was NOT, I was skyping with people in California and Hawaii and sunning myself on a lounge...
  20. That's what printers are for. Print that puppy off. Make a shopping list. EAT! No head hanging necessary, kiddo. You are absorbing SOMETHING from the minute you go gluten-free. And as much as I like daiquiris, too....BOOZE is not the best idea in a gut that is still raw. You need nourishment, kiddo. EAT!! Said with all the love in the world...
  21. Sweetie, if something has dairy it it, it has to be labeled: CONTAINS MILK. That's the beauty and blessing of food labeling laws. Okay, now--you can't find yourself left with just a pitcher of yummy drinks and a head of lettuce. Time to get some supplies. Did you read the NEWBIE 101 thread I put together? I humbly submit, it may just help you get started...
  22. I know you are just joking, but you can eat very well dairy and gluten free. Jules Shepherd makes a living out of it. I did it for 10 months. http://www.julesglutenfree.com/ But as a long as you're pouring, c'mon girl, hand me a daiquiri.
  23. sorry, hon--hope you feel better soon. We had grilled chicken. I marinated it in pomegranate vinaigrette. Some grilled asparagus and cole slaw with pineapple chunks and cranberries on the side. Watching my bikini figure.
  24. Is there any other kind? P.S. (I know there are, but they don't count) I'm a lobstah snob.
