  1. Here in reality land, we are having white pizza with 4 cheeses, garlic and broccoli tonight and a side of red bell pepper soup (encore! encore!) Because I am not especially perky right now, we are using MarilynR and KarenG's most excellent suggestion: CHEBE dough for the crust. I have to say, that stuff is damn good. Hubs is having the oatmeal...
  2. Oh, honey--that just sounds awful. However did you manage to choke it down? Lamb shanks.....my favorite. (drool drool) tapenade, cream brulee. You're killin me, woman.
  3. You're making me jealous, Irisheart! I'd love to purchase meat from the farmer! The newly adopted dog was ready to do backflips for a pinch of the bun. She's a hoot!
  4. Doesn't sound odd to me. I did that myself for many years. "How can I make this better?" --or if we tasted something extraordinary down in NYC or Seattle or in Maine or in Ireland (or wherever the hell we were), I'd start the wheels in my head..."ok, how did she DO that?" and then go home and try to recreate it. I met Jasper White once at his restaurant...
  5. Well, now you made ME smile, C-KIP! Thanks a bunch. I needed that today.
  6. Pork tenderloin with roasted garlic and a port wine mushroom sauce, oven-baked sweet potato fries, homemade applesauce and homemade corn bread. The sun's out. Makes me more ambitious, I guess.
  7. There is nothing quite like fresh, is there? It sounds yummy! We get chicken, pork and beef from the local farms sometimes and of course, it is far better than store bought stuff. A Brazilian store, eh---not sure we have one of those around, but I will check. That tap starch price is awesome!
  8. Yeah, that's what we are all thinking. Sweetie, your idea of "boring, dull and lifeless" is 5- star dining for some people who may have no culinary skills or access to specialty foods. They do not find anything you post "dull", I am sure. They mostly just want to come live with you. Have a good trip!!!
  9. My Creamy Red Bell Pepper Soup & Hub's homemade bread and my major dairy indulgence, thick creamy Irish Butter.
  10. Just beautiful, Simona! and thank you for sharing all your recipes and pictures with us!
  11. I'm hanging in there, Beebs, thanks! How's beautiful NSW? All right, I'm trying SOMETHING NEW TONIGHT. (speaking of crockpots...) I have a slow cooker I received as a gift (2009)and I HAVE NEVER used it once --I know, what was I waiting for? I don't know--so I am making: Butternut Squash Soup (it's Kelli and Peter Bronski's recipe...
  12. Oh, I want THAT instead-- sounds de-lish---Hi beebs! (IH is waving hand)
  13. I always say encore (not leftovers) because if it was so yummy the first time, I want it AGAIN--the flavors just get better anyway!! Enjoy your encore! We're having homemade chicken noodle soup tonight. But I confess---it's from the totally dedicated Gluten Free Cafe/Bakery we go to after my physical therapy on Monday and Thursday--it's my reward...
  14. no, Love2...now, what did I tell you?.....THAT, hon is not leftovers, that's an ENCORE!!!! (IH clapping hands thunderously) Pass me a plate!!!
  15. Today is ENCORE day. I never say "leftovers"...I figure if it was good to eat the first time, then it deserves an "encore". I used up the chicken we had made on the rotisserie for dinner on Friday. Made a roux and then added some stock, diced carrots, onions, celery, broccoli, corn, and some herbs and the diced chicken. It gets thick...
  16. And that pie was good!! thanks for posting the recipe on the other thread. Hubs had 2 portions--always a good sign!
  17. So happy to hear from you and I loved learning that you liked the pizza! Peace, happiness and health to you in the New Year!

    ((())))

  18. No snow in sight thus far . ..shhhh!!!!
  19. thanks--and I LOVE the quote in your sig line. So true!!! (and I was a teacher and I am a gardener as well.) Off topic, I know....okay back to the food discussion!!!!! Tonight we are having grilled chicken Caesar salad. No obnoxiously rich cake left--I gave it to the neighbors
  20. C'mon over! Seriously, I don't want to give you the impression we eat like that every day, hon. That was a New Year's Eve Special. For nearly 4 years I could not eat anything without getting ill or experiencing severe GI tract burning--even in my mouth. I have not been able to cook/bake like that for so long. No strength in my arms and legs and I...
  21. Encore (I do not say leftovers ) from last night's New Year's Eve dinner I made: Garlic-studded filet mignon roast, mushroom/port wine sauce, potato gratin dauphinoise, caesar salad, champagne and flourless chocolate cake with a ridiculously rich ganache. I am such a piggy.
  22. This post is a year old and the original poster may not see your reply. Just so you know!
  23. Happy New Year and I hope 2012 finds you feeling better and better every day. Thanks for all the help you are giving to others. You've paid it forward and then some!
