I felt this way after I'd been glutened, early on in the healing process. It took me a while to realize I react to everything (just the mere act of eating) in the days after I've been glutened. Basically, I was irritating the digestive tract which was already pretty irritated from the accidental gluten.
It also happened if I was getting low levels of cross-contamination repeatedly--I felt like I reacted to everything, really it was just that my intestines were constantly, mildly irritated, and any substance crossing through them made them more irritated.
In the end, I was only ever intolerant to onions, but at times when healing, it felt like I was intolerant of everything. So my advice is go through your gluten-free diet and recheck everything, especially for cross-contamination. When you start feeling like you can't eat anything, retrace your steps for a few days and see if there was a triggering point when you might have gotten some gluten.
This is exactly how I've been feeling, too...like everything is poison, I react to everything! Yesterday I was feeling like I wasn't sure how much more I could take This gives me hope...also, I think it's time to get rid of the gluteny shampoo..it's worth a shot.

So, when I got the positive blood test results my doctor referred me to a dietitian. When they called me, they said I had to attend a "Celiac Group" and then from there you get an appointment or referral to a dietitian or something like that, not sure I quite understood.
Anyways, the group was at 845 this morning...I had some symptoms yesterday and was very very tired, and didn't want to go sit through 3hrs of stuff I already know.
I've done a fair bit of research, plus, I generally come here if I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I also know quite a bit about eating healthy, calories, nutrients, vitamins, etc. because of my background in kinesiology/health/fitness.
I'm not saying I'm a know-it-all, or that I know it all...I'm definitely still learning each and every day, and it is definitely a process. I'm just wondering if I would benefit at all from seeing a dietitian...or I guess asking when the next group is and then possibly getting to see a dietitian? Thoughts, personal experiences?

LOL we are! Hope you're feeling better today...I'm still very tired and can't decide whether I should rest or exercise to help it. I have to work in four hours...4pm til 2am
-
LOL yeah, they are really good...the texture was fantastic, so different from what I've been eating. It was great...for about ten minutes But the gastro symptom didn't last too long at least. I'm super tired and foggy, but my tummy isn't inflamed anymore.

Shouldn't have tried the chocolate ones.........
-
I bought a box of LaraBars from Costco before I went dairy-free...they're the chocolate ones and I'm pretty sure they have dairy in the chocolate chips.
***Omg, nope, Ijust checked the website again and they don't use dairy in the chocolate chips but they are made on a line that makes chocolate chips with dairy and soy so they just can't GUARANTEE dairy and soy free as there may be trace amounts.

I could use some more tips...trying to eat only whole foods right now, and today my cravings have been off the charts I need to get some more variety in or something, but kinda broke and unsure what to try (seem to be good with apple, pears, rice, chicken, spinach, carrots, parsley, olive oil, salt & pepper)
trying hard to not cave and have a Lara bar because I'm afraid of the dairy~!

I had a suggetion of a B50 complex from someone...I don't have a verdict on it yet myself (tried it today, but I have such a headache I can't think straight anyways) but it's worth a shot!

My thighs hurt to touch, too!!! I always thought, man, this can't be normal, it hurts! ahhhh yet another symptom to blame on gluten...and another symptom that will hopefully go away! Sorry you're still having pain and bruising
-
oh, and MEMORY hahahahaha Funny how I always "forget" that one..................
-
Yes, a lot of the posts on here encourage me, as well...especially when I get to that dark place, like when I sent you that private message last night LOL...sorry about that
The posts on here about depression, anxiety, insomnia, levido reticularis, fatigue, body aches, headaches/migraines, skin conditions, brain fog, and of course nausea, vomiting, D, cramping, bloating, inflammation....the posts about ALLLLLLL of these things improving/going away??? That REALLY helps to keep me going, I guess sometimes it's just hard to believe that it will actually happen for me, ya know?

I do love edamame, but not so much that I would have to rinse it and shell it, etc. Besides..I love soy sauce, more...and I can't have that. LOL At some point I will try the tamari, though. Soy made me ill for three days. I'm going to wait longer this time before reintroducing something. It's just so tiring. NEED TO GIVE MYSELF TIME TO HEAL....ahhh yes...patience, patience, patience! I look back at it now and feel ridiculous for trying it so soon, I'm just anxious about all of it and want things to be better NOW haha PATIENCE...............

It didn't sound petty, I completely understand...I've always been jealous of sleepers...and it's funny, I've been dealing with it for so long (even as a kid my mom said I never slept, and I remember her giving me things like gravol...and kahlua...haha when I was a teenager) that it almost seems like I function better on 5 hours of sleep (broken sleep, usually), than if a pill knocks me out for hours because my body is so used to it. To a certain extent, anyways, and usually only for a few days and then it gets bad (mood and brain-wise).
I don't have a bathtub...man, I miss baths...but I could soak my feet? I have some circulation issues, so I worry my feet will get too hot or puffy, but I'll give it a go (why not, at this point, right? LOL)
I hope to stop taking the sleeping meds at some point, just don't think I'm ready, yet
-
Nice, yeah, I can't wait for this to get better, it's incredibly draining. I woke up at 515am yesterday and was still up around midnight last night, woke up at 3 and haven't been able to fall back asleep...and that's with a full zopiclone (sleep med).
I've tried everything under the sun as well LOL So jealous and almost resentful of sleepers sometimes

For me, the magic potion was a B50 complex vitamin. It literally worked within about 20 minutes to lift my brain fog. It worked for me every time. After being gluten free for about 6-8 months I no longer had any brain fog symptoms. I used to get it real bad ALL the time but now i can get a bit of cross contamination and feel no fog like symptoms. I am so glad because my brain fog was debilitating.
One nice thing i read way back about a b50 complex vitamin is that its water soluble. So your body uses what it needs and you will pee out the rest. You will know when its leaving you because its a a bright greeny yellow nuclear looking pee. Kinda freeky but hey, that they way it is.
I know if i have been gluten-free for a while it will be bright but if my body needs the vitamins it will not be so bright.
Go get some B50 and hopefully you can thank me.
It literally changed my life while trying to come to terms dealing with this ailment.

Oh I really hope so, too! I have sublingual B12, but I will look for B50 complex....ooo my bf just said he has some, SCORE! I will let you know, soon! Right now I'm not too foggy, just can't sleep...had between 3-4hrs and now I'm pretty much up, don't see much point trying to go back to sleep since I have to be up in an hour and a bit

Thank you, so much, eatmeat4good...I'm sure I WILL have more questions

yeah when I took pictures it looked a little more like DH than I thought. I guess I'll go to the doctor...if I find a spare moment UGH. Feeling really down right now. Not just about my skin, but everything. Regardless...is there anything you can do for DH? Or is it just gluten-free and wait it out? And why is it on my face, has anyone else had it one their face? I guess I should go to the DH forum.

I was going to post pics, are we not able to do that?
-
@ Terri O...yes, I have discovered that cooking is not the same as well It was very strange to not be able to taste the food I was making my SO to make sure it was okay...I don't like that at all!
@ psawyer...wow. I never thought of that, I somehow thought hand sanitizer would help remove the gluten. Damn. I HATE washing my hands...I know that sounds awful, I've always washed them at important times, but I have this weird neurotic thing about being wet...I don't like my face being wet, either; if I'm at the pool, I have to have a towel nearby. Anyways, I guess "important times" has now expanded into...all the time :( I don't get a break to sit down and eat, so I usually just take bites when I can. With my yam I figured out it would help if I held the yam with a paper towel (I usually bring things to eat with my hands, it's easier/fater), so I guess that's one strategy. Grrrrr this is so frustrating! The amount of drink I serve! I'll have no skin left LOL UGH it's all just SO much. I'm a nervous person, I'm sure I put my hands/fingers in my mouth more than I even know, though I've been trying really hard not to. So many things to change, it can be very overwhelming at times

Hi, I had the same experience with the bloatedness...I knew I was bloated, but I've had a few good days since going on the elimination diet where I was like...whoa...my stomach feels...DIFFERENT...and it looked different, too...because it wasn't all inflamed!!! But, yes, I knew that I got bloated, but that feeling of no inflammation is priceless...and worth staying on the lame diet LOL
I've been alcohol free for 2 weeks now, and on the strict elimination diet (no gluten, corn, dairy, soy, eggs, alcohol, caffeine, fun....LOL) for 10 days....ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Wow, it feel like so much longer LOL I tried to reintroduce soy on the 5th day...what was I thinking?? I want this all to go much faster than it is, i what I was thinking.
Anyways...I'm hoping for more...hmmm, is there really no word for the opposite of inflamed?? Haha
Well, I'm hoping we both have some more inflammation-free days!!!

It just made everything official for me (I didn't have any outward symptoms, so it was a big shock to find out about the diagnosis), and I think that will help me get started on the gluten free lifestyle AND will make it more real for family and friends. I've heard that it can be hard to get people to take celiac disease seriously, so I wanted all of the backup I could get.
I feel like this, too!!! I had very positive blood test (ttg came back as >100!), yet, I feel like I can't say I have Celiac Disease until I get the biopsy!

Okay, so I've been off for a couple weeks at the bar after skipping work due to gluten-related symptoms...which, after explaining, they were very understanding and gave me a couple shifts off, part as punishment, part as a chance to figure out my new...life, I guess
Anyways, I was back today, and ended up with bloating, gassiness, and cramping...clumsiness, and major brain fog (took me FOREVER to make change from $100 for a drink that was $4.50!). It settled down a bit after taking some painkillers and drinking some soda. But pretty bloated again now that I'm home.
It could have been anything, I suppose.
But I guess what I'm asking is....DO any of YOU bartend/serve/work in a kitchen, etc. or did any of you have to give it up because it made you sick?
I mean, there's gluten everywhere! Try as I did to use hand sanitizer, I'm slinging beer, running burgers and wings, etc. I brought my own food from home (nothing new, all whole foods) and only drank bottled water.
I'm just worried I might have to give up my job I haven't felt like this way when I've worked at the gym (I started personal training a couple weeks ago).
Would love to hear your thoughts!
-
Yes, I have those thoughts, too...but as others mentioned, I wouldn't want my symptoms to get WORSE or to last LONGER
-
LOL that's pretty funny, I have had the exam dream recently, too (I graduated from my program in December)!!!
I get glimpses of it "getting better"...and I like the view
Elimination Diet
in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

It comes and goes for me...I went gluten-free for a couple weeks before going on the elimination (no gluten, dairy, soy, corn, eggs, nightshades) and all whole foods. On the third day of this diet I felt amazing for two days in a row...then not so good for a week, then another good day. But it's definitely better than it was on gluten...while I'm very tired and foggy today, my stomach feels flat, not inflamed or bloated, and I think I've only puked twice so far, and it's been about a month and a week.
I've heard others say, it's never going to HURT you to get rid of this stuff (as long as you're eating enough and taking vitamins...check the ingredients), so it's worth a shot.
The elimination diet sucks, but feeling good is worth it. Beware of withdrawal, you will likely feel worse before better. My first week GLUTEN free, I was an emotional mess.
Hopefully others can add some more insight, everyone is different, and I'm still a newbie
