Normally, I take a Midol, drink a bottle of water, eat some cold, cool grapes and just try to do something calming. Have you ever taken anything for depression? I'm taking Zoloft (gluten-free, 'course) and helps me, and, if I forget to take it for a couple of days in a row, I begin to notice the depression kick back up, so, for me it works really well.
Hope to see those bad thoughts go away, I absolutely know how that one feels

In my worse case, which was yesterday, twenty-thirty-five minutes. Yesterday after lunch, I went to fourth block and about 25 minutes after lunch I got this terrible cramp in the mid-driff. It was very sharp and prolonging. Fatigue, constipation/diarrhea, and especially moody swings also come along. I realized cheating wasn't an option if I wanted to get better. Just keep sticking to it, first 3 months is horrible, but, it gets easy as it goes. Hope to hear things improve!

Aww, that's really heartbreaking to have to decide between feeding your child and your own health. Maybe something you can do can interrup this and you will able to eat with comfort and feed your baby. Keep us posted and I'll be praying for you and your child! Let us know on anything new and hopefully good

The chili isn't gluten-free? Oops...glad I read this.

My favorite was the Guacamole flavored doritos, unless I guess they discontinued them. Can't find them anymore. Guess that's an acquired taste =P So, now my favorite is the Cheddar & Sour Cream that Lays carries.

1. how long have you had coeliac? A year this month!
2. At what age were you diagnosed? Fourteen
3. what foods do you miss out on? Pretzels. I loved pretzels. And poptarts XD
4. How much does it cost to stay gluten free? Depends how much you buy gluten-free foods specially made ( cookies, pastas, breaded meats, ect.) If you don't but these much (which I don't except for cake mixes, for decortating class), it's not really that much more expensive.
5. Do you ever wish that you didn't have coeliac? Not really. Celiac makes me unqiue and personally I think it's a better way of an eating living style.
6. Does the food taste better or worse or the same as ordinary food? It tastes the same, but, it gets repetitive sometimes. I live though.
7. Have you ever eaten gluten without knowing it then suffered for it? Yep.

I got placed on some antibiotics for swelling, mucus in the sinus (got circular flow in the left in frontal sinus, if it doesn't clear, more sinus surgery, yippee!!! ) So, the doctor highly recommended I went on probiotics for the time I take it. Went to the pharmacy, got the 'scripts filled and I asked, just to be safe, if the product was gluten-free and explained what gluten was, what it was in ect. The lady goes asks this guy and comes back and says "There's whey in it, and it's from wheat." I really wanted to scream out "DUNCE!!!" So, my mom and I went back and forward with the lady until we said fine, just give us the stupid(that word not said but thought more than once) probiotic anyway.
The back reads: "Lactobacillus GG is grown on whey and will contain trace levels of (less than 15 ppm capsule) of casein and whey, which are proteins found in milk.
MILK!!! Grr...it gets so frustrating sometimes, because people can be so ignorant, so, there's probably been a bunch of times were I’ve gotten something with gluten or deprived of something that actually DIDN'T have gluten in it...
So, the moral is, better recheck it yourself. I'd be happy to read some the experiences of others with problems like this, a lot of them are funny because it really shows how people are really clueless!

Sarahm19- Your symptoms are very similar to what mine were. I, too, was really underweight (lost nearly eighty-pounds). Right, the anti-bodies attack the small intestine when gluten sticks to the villi (sp), wearing them down thus many nutrients are not absorbed. My feet were also swollen at times, but, I've had issues with my right foot being re-sprained for the fourth time. Tomorrow, I have will be Dxed for an entire year. After staying gluten-free for the most part, I noticed my weight-loss began to level off near 8 months or so. It's different for everyone, depending how long you went eating gluten and how damaged your intestines are. What kinds of tests did have done? Blood Work? Endo scope? A biopsy is really good look of how your intestines look and the G.I. doctor could probably give a rough sketch of how long it would take for things to heal.

Kind of. My dreams are just plain-out strange, but, they're not nightmares. A lot of them I'll wake myself up laughing about the dream. I like dreams---they make sleep more interesting =P My all time favorite is the one where I went to a water park with my Mom, and two cartoon characters Zim and GIR (GIR is a little dancin' robot in a dog suit that was previously my avatar) and went down a tube in on a slide XD

After being Dxed with Celiac, it's like bloody murder to do sit ups. My stomach feels like it's going to burst, it is so tender. I dread my two days of PT at school and most of the time I just do two sets of fifty push ups instead of doing sit ups because I'm lucky if I can get twenty in most of the time within a minute. Does anyone have any advice to get rid of this pain?

My Dad is one of these people (folks divorsed and I live with my Mom) . The fact that I lost nearly 80 pounds and being in a state of malnutrition didn't mean anything to him. This was some silly little disease. I am not sure if he thinks I'm making it up, but, I haven't been to over to his house since God knows when (sad, I know. ) However, everyone on my Mom's side and my friends are VERY supportive. There's going to be an idiot in the crowd. Just ignore and be thankful for the folks you have that DO care.

'Pose I'm gonna have to bump this up to get a reply. If it's better for anyone, just PM me instead.

Mine's the opposite of everybody---mine are getting worse and worse. Ever since Celiac, my periods are much heavier and the pain is getting were I can't tolrate it very well at all. Until like the last two days (6-7), they're HEAVY. Except for those last two days, I'm miserable most of the time. If it's really bad, it's 8-9 days.

I'm not really sure if it could be linked or not, I really don't know much about it. But, I was tested for Cystic Fibrosis last month, and it came back negatively.

There can never be a post too long
Time to stick up for your ownself here. Hurt someone's feelings over a trivial thing as to bring your own food or risk your health and your changes of getting pregnant? You're really going to ram it down their throats that this is serious. Sometimes you just have to flat out tell them if it doesn't get through. I mean, getting sick from CC is nothing to enjoy. Just try to make them see if it was them in your place, I think they would bring their own food as well. I know you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but, you just got to explain to them if you keep getting food CCed, it's risking a whole lot and it'd be better for everyone just to bring your own food. I hope something in here helped you, good luck =)

For me, it bothers my skin and scalp too much to use shampoo with gluten in it. I break out and get rashes. Plus, it wouldn't be good to get it in eyes.

Do they itch and sometimes burn?
I have had considerable trouble with them. I got them the day I got glutened this week. I went to my doctors partner because my doctor is on holidays. He gave me a cream I awoke this morning my eye had swollen shut and my head ached. I just got back a half hour ago from the hospital (from having my brother drive me over at 4am). They said that whatever the problem was compounded by the cream which I am obviously allergic to, so they gave me benedryl, and ice packs and it is starting to go down. Another lost day of work.
Rusla- Ouch! Take it easy there and get plently of sleep and rest. No, I haven't had any problems like that. No irration or burning whatsoever. I feel rough from being gluten and whatnot though. Anyway, take care and I hope you feel better =)

Rinku--Those were my symptoms at your age. Have you been tested for anemia? Even if you have, a multivitamin with iron might be a good idea. Those only have the MDR of iron in them.
Patti- I believe so, but, I think I didn't have anemia. I do take a multivitamin everyday. I'll give it a look and see if there's a good amount of iron in there.

My are absolutely the nausea and the feeling I'm going to pass out. I get so weak I bearly feel conscience at times.

Thanks, ChelsE...I'll be okay, just take a little time. Ouch, sorry you had to go through mono, one of my friends got that once
Wow...that's kind of strange, I haven't throw up yet and I've gotten them twice. Happy I haven't thrown up yet though.

Stupid I got into gluten yesterday, and now I've got red dots around my eyes. They're blood red...it looks like someone took a marker to me. I've got to go to a funeral and be a pall bearer (yes, a girl can be a pall bearer) and I look terrible in my face. I don't feel to hot, but, I'll be fine. I’m hoping it’ll clear up before the funeral…anyway, just wondering if I’m the only one that’s dealt with this.

From the looks of it, a vast majority of people with celiac disease suffer with this. It feels like I'm bloated ALL the time, from morning to night. Not all the time, but, most. Rarely do I ever eat breakfast. Everytime I eat I hurt, it's just normal part of life for me now. There's nothing I know to do. The mid-morning it felt like my pants were sawing right into me, but, then they're as comfortable as be. But, maybe the suggestions given by the others will help. I know I'm going to try that green tea one. Sounds yummy!

This is the first time I've ran up on it as well, thought it was a little odd.
Thanks guys, I'll be sure not to use it.
