  1. Once I learned through Celiac, that you eat to live, not live to eat, this diet is not hard at all. It's kind of sad, thinking back, that eating a piece of pizza was the only thing that would make me happy :/ I think what's really hard is fitting back into the social events involving food. Dating is really fun. "Wanna go eat out?" "No, every freakin' thing has gluten or is probably crossed with something having gluten" <_< , but, you adjust by going to eat ice cream instead XD . But, really, there is a lot of comfort food out there gluten-free.

  2. 'Course not, I'm sick of hurting with my stomach...even though I kind of thought they had gluten, I eat them until they released they had wheat in them.

And, for anyone who said 'yes', why risk having those terrible side-effects when you can drag out the deep fryer, go get some frozen french fries at your local market and have 'em at home? Yeah, I know, it's nothing like fast-food kind. But, I've learned with Celiac that your life should not revolve food and there's more to life than it. Eat to live, not live to eat.

Me? I'm from the 'States in Tennessee.

  3. Well, I haven't the chance to try Bob's Red Mill cereal, but, I have no problems with any of their other products. My folks and I make my bread out of Bob's Red Mill mixes and I have never had a problem. However, I'm still healing from severely damaged small intestines. So, I hurt everyday and I don't know if it’s ever played a factor. But, I hurt no more than usual

  4. none are they all have carmel color in them
Well, if the Caramel color is made in the United States, then, it is probably gluten-free. I remember reading something about it where they use corn instead of wheat. But, you never know.
  5. Well...excuse me, but, this sucks. This is confusing, I've had managers tell them they are gluten-free, McDonald's lists say gluten-free, now they're not. Grr...Though I detest saying, I think it would be in everyone's best interest just to avoid McDonald's completely. Don't trust Burger King either. They say fries are dipped in gease alone, but, my cousin finds an Onion Ring staring at him in his french fries. Liars. <_<

Though this has nothing to do with the topic on hand, MSN just released an article about high trans fats levels in fries.

  6. I love it! I brought a whole case of it about two weeks back or so. You're kidding---no. Sorry if it has gluten in it. I'm not giving up cokes. Anyway, I've had no problems with any Coca-Cola brand drinks! I've hated the fear of the caramel coloring in the cokes having gluten in them.

Additionally, we can tell you that all of our other products meet Codex's

definition of gluten-free, which is currently less than 200 ppm (parts per

million) (0.02%) gluten. Codex is in the process of reviewing this standard and

we are monitoring the progress closely. At this time the U.S. Food and Drug

Administration does not have a regulatory definition of gluten-free.

I really don't like "Codex's definition of gluten-free". Even though it may contain 0.02% of gluten, there's still gluten in it. Oh well. It's fustrating enough.

  7. Well, I 'pose taking Vegetables and Fruit in a container would never hurt. But, too healthy and boring, right? Try making a loaf of homemade gluten-free bread gives a lot of options (In my eyes, Bob's Red Mill is the best gluten-free flour to make bread with). Numerous sandwiches are available now. Also, when taking gluten-free bread, I've found keeping it fridge or small lunch box with ice packs helps keep it fresh a lot longer. I also like pepperonis with cheese on them too. I know it's not much, but, I hope it helps. –Ash

  8. Alas, I can't say I only had two cavities. I'm an average teen for you. Anyway, was the molar a tooth that had a filling over it? I believe mine had a filling over it . I discovered it is decayed from the inside out after that bit fell out. I've noticed also I have extreme sensitivities to cold, hot or even normal temperature foods. Do you have any suggestions for trying to prevent these chips and cracks? I’m going to the dentist tomorrow, but, I’m hurting so bad. I’ve been jamming lemon extract in the hole in my tooth but the relief does not last long.

  9. I'm in high school too... It's really hard when people are gobbling up pizza in front of you every day. I just bring my own thing and let my friends taste what they want. Trust me, it will get easier. I was diagnosed in Nov. 2004 and the first few months were horrible. Maybe this next school year will bring on more mature people around you... but kids will be kids, if you know what I mean.

    Rinku-- How old are you?

    Sorry I can't offer more!

I know, I can barely sit there while they have a box with a mini pizza in it. It smells so good. So do I, but, it's usually fruit and peanuts, and occasionally meat roll up things. Telling me that really helps. I'm getting better about it, it's a lot easier this month then in June.

I'm fourteen, and I'll be fifteen on Sept. 30. My name's Ash, if you want to know. I need to put that in my signature...

  10. I found that in college it is easier to find people who know about these sorts of things and know what gluten is.  In High School serious vegetarians and more health food eaters will be aware of gluten and possibly Celiacs.  Good luck finding someone!

I'm pretty sure it is, there's probably a lot of people who major in some kind of medical stuff. Okay, I'll be sure to look for that. Thanks!
  11. I feel like that sometimes too. I have to go to bed around 9:30 and get up at 5:45 to feel right. If it's too late, then I feel absolutely miserable. Sometimes I'll let myself sleep until 6:30 if I'm real tired. I use to go on five-six hours, but I wouldn't be able to stand myself now if I did that. But, as already suggest, try to get good meals in, exercise. Also, keep a regular bed and wake up time.

  12. Anyone have any suggestions? I've already had to explain to few a people what celiac disease is, but, I haven't been able to find anyone yet who knows what it actually is. I kind of hate explaining it over and over. But, I've gotta deal with it. I've looked a little around our Cafeteria Room for anyone with a lunch box, but it never fails to have a sandwich flying out of it. Finding someone who understands would help me a great deal. Thank You!

  13. For my lunch, I usually take some Pistachios, or any kind of nuts, a whole fruit like a banana or grapes, and instead of a sandwich, I make something like a 'meat roll'. I take a piece of turkey pastrami, swipe a thin layer of some green onion dip on it and place a baby dill pickle on it. Then, roll it up, stick a tooth piece through it and there you go! Hopefully, this will help you.

  14. I feel so miserable with the stupid disease.Yes,I know I sound like a whiny little brat...but I can't help it.It sucks to live in a house hold that's loaded with bread. The gluten-free breads are absolutely terrible.Ener-G tapioca loaf and the Kinnickinick bread taste exactly like rubber.Earlier before school released for summer break,I shared my bread with some of my friends and a few teachers. We all gagged on it.But I'll be all right.I'm starting not to miss bread that much anymore...but there's that same temptation with it being in the house.I don't want to eat anymore.I never realised how I took everything thing I ate for granted.Food's really limited...we are still searching for some other foods and whatnot. We can only go to Wild Oats when I go to the doctor in Nashville.I'm going to load up on those rice noodles for sure. It's also painful to go into a store and see all that food I once could have.I'm just down emotionally really...I just need someone who could talk to me and help me feel better.I know it could be worse.I could live where it's not a free nation.I could have no way of getting around or not have a spare change of clothes at all.I'm grateful for everything...but Celiac's just...it's got me fustrated.

  15. I have researched the "thinning hair" issue, and vitamin B12 came up quite often. I recently went out and bought a sublingual B-complex, with a boatload of B12 in it. It's sublingual, so doesn't even need to go thru your GI-tract.

On the liquid vitamins, I would recommend starting with a small bottle, to make sure you like it. I used to work in a pharmacy... the smell of liquid vitamins *with iron* was enough to make me vomit. I can't imagine having to take that stuff every day!! You don't want to buy a gallon of a liquid vitamin that you can't stand taking! I'm sure, like everything else, some brands taste better than others.

My Mother went out and bought me a multi-vitamin.I know B
