Chloe,
Your friend needs to get real. I think if she was in the same boat as you, she'd be asking for something that she could eat too. It's not rude to ask for food you can eat so you won't get sick.
My suggestions:
1.) Bring food of your own
-This works really well if the friends you are staying with have no clue about celiac disease.
2.) Have your folks talk to your friend and his/her parents about celiac disease in DETAIL.
-Someone people take things more seriously if explained by an adult (which kind of suck )
As Debmidge said, this might not be a friend. It's really sad but it happens. Hopefully, this little issue will get resolved.
Welcome to the Board! Hope you find it useful =)

Nah, it shouldn't affect your intestines. Just make sure you don't rub your mouth, face, eyes, ect. Some people's skin break out when exposed to gluten (which is my case). It just differs from person to person.

I've only eaten one kind of her meals and its the gluten free mac and cheese. I haven't had a problem with it. I react severely to gluten so I know even if I got the slightest bit. But, after all these problems Celiacs are having, I'm thinking not eating her meals anymore.

Cheating will cause you not to heal. No cheating.
Now that's out of the way, my favorite bread is made from Gluten-Free Pantry's french bread & pizza mix. Any gluten-free bread is ALWAYS better if you make it from a mix. It actually tastes decent.

I'm a upcoming junior in highschool. I work part time at Maggie Moos. I'm also the Color Guard commander for my JROTC unit.
After highschool, my careers plans are to attend the Air Force Acedemy in Colorado Springs then join the Air Force as a pilot. Plus I know I want children later on in life when I get married.
Everyone here has such amazing jobs!

You're only old if lose the spirit of having fun.
As for the running, I have no idea about that. Didn't know you could be too old to exercise and run. If it were me, I'd take everything at the pace that is comfortable. The body's a complex things. Go with instincts. And obviously don't do anything dangerous.

My favorites are:
-The Park (the nature trail is the best part)
-Family Center (it's basically like a YMCA)
-The public library (good place to just to relax on the sofa thing and read of the one magazine)
-ROTC classroom (during school of course)
-Maggie Moo's (when I'm not working there.)
What's your favorite hang outs?

Hello, hello.
To me, it wouldn't matter if I knew if I had Celiac or not---if going gluten-free is going to make you feel better, then by all means just cut out the gluten and say forget the entrolab. I understand the pain, I lost 70+ lbs because of it was so painful for me to eat. If you're going gluten-free and taking the entrolab, then it's going to lower your levels and possibly give you false results. If you're really wanting to get the best results for an entrolab, then it would be best to reintroduce gluten back into your diet.
I never had any entrolab done, I was dx'd by upper endoscopy. It was amazing to see what damage my villi went through. They were complete dull and hardly any of it left. Personally, I think having the endoscopy is a better route to go through than the entrolab.
It seems you have a lot of on your plate when it comes to keeping your health in check I hope things become better and you get some relief.

Hello, hello. As of late, my capillaries have been bursting. They're not the usual violent red but just a very very very faint dried-blood color. I can't figure why they are bursting, because I'm pretty sure I'm not taking in gluten. and if I was then my face would covered the violent red spots and not these faint ones. Can your capillaries burst just from extreme stress? I'm dealing with that quite a bit and that's the only thing I can think of that could cause them to burst.
Thanks guys

Nope, No C-D just a bunch of vague instructions that pretty much worthless if you run into a problem. Thanks though Ursula and Generic!
Tiffany, it was the USB port. I went to my uncle's yesterday and it came up just fine. I tried it again on my computer but nothing. When I hook it to one the usb ports, it feels loose. The other fits fine but nothing came up and nothing new was in my computer. So it looks like my computer gets to take a field trip to the shop lol. Thanks for everything!

Oops! I forgot to even install the software. So, you go to the the site and download itunes, right? When you do that, do you open or save it?

Hello to all!
I just went and bought myself an Ipod a couple of days ago. When I plug it up to the USB port, nothing comes up. I've used the port before for my camera. I tried plugging in my camera too but nothing happened. The little icon doesn't pop up in the bottom bar showing that the USB port is in use. I don't know if anything came unplugged or what. Any advice? Anything I should look for? I really don't want to take the stupid computer to the shop.

Breathe. Take a deep breathe. Hold it for 5 seconds. Exhale slowly. Now, I'm in the same boat in a way. I shift between pants sizes because of bloating. It gets me extremely frustated because I'm worried to buy clothes because I don't know if they'll be to loose on me the next day.
My advice is to re-examine your food income. Not how much you eat, but, rather you are 100% sure that everything that you eat is gluten-free. If you have the least a bit of doubt, take it out of your diet for a while. Those problems may becoming from hidden gluten. It could never hurt to try shifting your diet around. I plan on doing that to see if that can help my bloating issue.
Don't worry about the embarassment of having to go to the bathroom. The folks traveling with you can deal. It's your health we're talking about here. Everyone has problems with their health.
Let me know if I can doing anything for you.

Welcome Seth!
I hope you and girlfriend get a lot of good help from the website! I would strongly discourage eating resturant Chinese food. If you choose to (which I do too, the chicken fried rice becomes so tempting.) make sure to stress not to cook any of her food with soy sauce. A good alternative soy sauce is Tamari. Love the stuff, you can get Wild Oats I know for sure. Probably at all the other health food stores, too.
The smallest amount of gluten can do damage. I have extremely sereve reactions so I know if I even got just the tiny bit of gluten in me. I think it's a lot harder to figure out whether things have gluten if you really don't react. Just be careful. It never hurts to call ahead to the resturant or the company of the product to ask question.

PS: To anyone, does PF Changs have a website? I never heard of one being in Tennessee and I'd like to see if I can find one here.

Last semester in my Spanish class, we somehow got on the subject of food. I told them I couldn't have gluten/wheat. One of the girls in the class said, "Well, I know to never get you a sandwich or anything like that now." Then the dude beside me said, "What are you talking about?! There's only wheat in wheat bread! She can have regular bread!". I nearly laughed in his face. "What do you think in regular bread?" I asked him. "Flour." he told me, and also said to the class that there was no wheat in flour either.

Some of these have already been listed...but, I dislike them so much that I'll list them again anyway.
10.) Extreme Pain when doing sit-ups
9.) I can't go one day without being bloated
8.) Not having enough time to eat a whole, decent meal because I don't have the time to cook/ lack of convience
7.) The pointless use of 'barely malt' in any food items.
6.) Dodging the question of "what does gluten to do you?" at the table, due to the squeamish stomachs of most.
5.) Being gluten-free is hell when you travel, especially when you're without your mom that know how to help you.
4.) Ener-G. The entire brand. Waste of money...honestly, I don't see how people can eat it without gagging.
3.) When people "think" they know what gluten and Celiac is when they really don't. One man tried to agrue that 'casein' was wheat...
2.) The horrible stinging in my hands once I've handled gluten
1.) Being hungry all the time but I can't eat too much because it's so painful to eat.

For me, my period gets worse every month. I'm completely gluten-free too. I'm considering going on the pill to lighten my condition. The PMS is absolutely horrible. I'm forever bloated and dealing with the pain of my stomach because of Celiac. That combined with my period nearly makes it unbearable. So...I don't know if I'm just special case or what, but, something's gotta give.
I'm pretty sure gluten can have an effect on it. Maybe Carla can help you. =)
