  1. I hate that comment more than any other. Sometimes, I would just love to say them, "Oh yes, I'm sure you would like be malnurished, in temendous pain from the antibodies attack your small Intestine, have your stomach pumped when every you come into a lot gluten, have your capillars burst so bad that it looks like you have the measles for a week, and lose nearly all convience in preparing meals."

  2. Welcome AnnaBelle! (Beautiful name, by the way :) )

I'll be 16 in a month. I know how ya feels. I get nervous in social events, thinking I'm going to get sick or someone's gonna throw some kind of gluten filled food at me for spite. Trust me. With time, this becomes so much easier that you sometimes forget that you actually have Celiac Disease in an anyway. It is a real challenge. The social world of teenagers revolves around, dum dum dum, food!!!

At first, I thought it ruined by life. But, It's helped me so much to eat more healthier. I can't stand all these grease-covered foods anymore. It's just another thing in life that ya gotta learn to deal with. Don't worry. Stick to the gluten-free diet and your body will heal.

If any you need anything, feel free to PM me :)

  3. It went so well! We went to the fair, and, even though the smell of the bloomin' onions (oh god...) about got me, I wasn't really attempted to eating anything that I shouldn't. My boyfriend is caring and worries about me. It was really nice. One of the few social events were gluten wasn't a major presense.

  4. My depression shot up to the roof after being Dxed. At first, it was about being deprived of some foods. I'm still dealing with it quite a bit, but, it has nothing to do with being gluten-free. I've also been extremely more emotional after being dxed. Really don't why...

  6. Thanks everyone for links, suggestions and support :)

Chelse, I usually have some kind of cereal in the morning (hooked on the Dora the Explorer cereal), lunch is either chicken salad or a hamburger steak or my favorite, parsami (sp? probably) , celery & peanut butter or peas, grapes or bananas and once in a blue moon there'll be funyuns in there.

Dinner, once in a while I'll make some rice mac 'n alfredo, but I really try to avoid it. Hot dogs w/ mustard, more hamburger steaks...sometimes I'm happy with what I got but I'm really started to feel run-down.

I really don't miss the junky-junk food (my homemade gluten-free cake is killer though) , but, I just want to feel like I'm actually getting a whole, healthy meal instead junk.

Note on EnerG bread: I nearly puked the first time I tried. Never tried it again. My teacher that tried nearly got sick too.

For the like the first two months, I was still barely eating so I would snack JUST off chips. Finally got to search for decent food. Over a year know but I still feel deprived of something whole and filling. I can live without gluten, I don't like seeing my food for a second-time, half digested...

    Thanks everyone :)

  7. I know this probably been posted twenty-million times, but, when I search for a topic I get things that are not even related to it. I really do hate the search system on this site.

My diet is absolutely horrible at times. I mean, I usually eat veggies and fruit at lunch (packed), but, when I'm at home, especially during the weekends, I find myself eating some kind of junk. I just can't find anything new to eat :( It's getting so bland and the same.

    Suggestions?

    -Ash

  8. whether or not it can be absorbed through the skin, my old favorite line or hand creams bath and body works all has wheat in it...they give me hives and rashes nows from the exposure, so the tests may say one thing...but the hand creams said somethign else....which really stinks for me....haha

Same thing happens to me. That's why it kinda annoys me when people say it can't be absorbed through the skin. It might not, but, it's itchy and very annoying! I suggest doing at home.

  9. Unless your college can guantree completely gluten-free meals and no chance of CC, I would bring my lunch ( as I do at highschool). I love things like red kidney beans and rice, fresh fruit and veggies, peanut-butter in the cups, etc. Snack in class, if you can. It helps.

Relax. It's hard, I'm not shy, but, I'm so incredibly different that's it was hard for me awhile to become more open and make friends. Like Chelse said, be yourself. Why act different around people to make friends? It's uncomfortable and it's something you can't do forever. Be yourself and I think you'll do well. Good luck :)

  10. Thanks everyone

I didn't think it was TSS, but, just thought I'd ask. I've have tried EVERYTHING that has been listed before except trying the all natural tampons. I'm allergic to many things, so, it would make sense to give it a shot. Also, my tampons are unperfumed. Now all I gotta do is actually get a gynecologist doctor.

    -Ash

  11. Ladies,

Have any of you have problems wearing tapons? I have absolutely the severest pain with them, and I promise you that I have it inserted as far as I can get it. I bought the smallest small possible with plastic applicators. I get horrible shots of pain. Does this sound like TSS?

Oh! And, for anyone was wondering, my back pain is related to IBS, my gi doctor said my ultrasound showed all my organs are fine.

    Thank ya, thank ya

    -Ash

  12. Well, not me, but my food gets nicknamed. My cousin LOVES my gluten-free cake and calls it 'gluten-cake'. He also loves my gluten-free cookies 'gluten-cookies'. I keep explaining over and over that's not gluten but it never goes through

    -Ash

  13. Well when its only once a year that's probably ok,. Have you ever reacted to it?? B/c I have gone to a christian nondenominational church before and they gave you a little cracker like the ones you put in your clam chowder. really tiny.

Nope. I felt just fine after it. I know I didn't react because the tiny blood vains didn't burst like they do if I get into gluten badly (Just like I did last night, my ENTIRE face is covered in red dots.) I understand that it does damage, enough though I felt no pain. Like an oyster cracker? I forgot the offical name of the cracker we use.

    -Ash

  14. Sorry Celia :(

I almost fell to eat something gluten-filled too, but, I just didn't have the spine to do it.

Just wanted to triple-recommend the water. Raw honey is awesome too. Both are Nature's miracle. Most important of all : Remain calm.
