  1. Fluffy!!! XD, sorry

Agent Z- A lot of people won't touch things with gluten in them because it gives them skin reactions, breakouts, ect. Others don't have skin reactions or aren't bothered enough to stop touching gluten.; Yep, you learn ya have to dig deeper than what folks tell you. Double checking labels, lots 'o hours of trying to get information from clueless resturants.

My celiac moment was around after going three weeks of being gluten-free. I woke up one morning, when into the kitchen and saw a doughnut. Blissfully I picked it up and popped into my mouth, completely forgetting I wasn't suppose to have gluten  mom got so mad at me for that. I also had an very close encountered with the flour bags at leadership camp that my JROTC goes to. everyone knew not to throw them at me or I'd punch them.

Anyway, welcome both of you to the boards and if you guys need anything give me a PM or an email! :)

  2. It makes a lot of sense to me. Ugh I'm the same way. I still have stomach pains when I eat, even if I'm hundred percent sure the food is gluten free. My stomach and villi are still healing. I just assume that I'm more ill because I'm in such pain.

  3. I have my emotional ups and downs as well too. But, being different is good. In my eyes, being predictable is not good enough. Having different attributes builds up the little pieces that makes you something unique and not the same uniformed-copy of someone/something else. I know it gets old and stale even people come up and say "I'd die without bread!" and whatnot, but, just be positive and eventually it becomes easier and it the awakardness seems to fade.

If you need anything, just to talk, anything, give me a PM! :)

  4. Wow! I was kinda surpised when I picked up my Yoga maganize in Wild Oats today and saw an article about Celiac!

    It's pretty basic, but, imformative.

The artice discusses commons symptoms of Celiac disease and what it causes. Another mainpoint was "Are you 1 in 100?" From 15th-21st of May was helded as a National Awareness Week "to promote the need for early diagnosis."

It was nice to see something on Celiac awareness, even if it's a month-old :P

  5. For me, it was a military ball, but, same difference. I didn't even touch the food there. I ate before. I was having so much fun that I didn't have to time to even think about eating. The only thing I got was something to drink.

  6. moussyluv- important, Did you have to strain to make a bm? I'm in the same boat. Went to the doctor, had an exam, and got put on a powder lax. I had no signs of fissures or hemorrhoids (don't know about internal hemorrhoids though yet). I took it, no blood, but it made me go so much I stopped taking it 'cause it made me sick at my stomach a lot. The blood came back, so, the backed it down to a half-cup and probably going to have a scope :( If your straining, that may be the the reason there's blood in your stool.

  7. I don't know if chronic sinusistis (sp-sinus problems) can be considered a disease, but, sometimes it is more annoying than Celiac to me know. All I got to do is avoid gluten and problem solved. Not always easy, but, you can do something about it. With my sinus, first surgery just did a lot of scaring and blocked one out to where it couldn't drain. So I had a second surgery for that last monday (dealing with a lot of pain right now). It's so draining and nothing seems to work. I've dealt with the sinus for around two years. Constantly missing a week of school every three months has just made me miserable. But we've made some ground, if this doesn't work then they'll send me over to migraine people. It's getting better and I'm just glad I don't have anything really bad out there (or any more allergies to food for that matter).

(Sorry for numerous mistakes in grammar, feel bad)

  8. I just had sinus surgery and I can't walk, run, 'heavily' excerise, or lift anything over five pounds for two weeks. So basically waste away <_< anyway, since I know I can't have playdoh, my folks went and got me a package of floam. It's all bubbly and squishy. I love to squeeze it!!! Problem is, being so out of it, I threw the package it came in and the bucket you put it in when your done doesn't have any contact info. So, I have no idea if it's gluten-free. Help?

  9. Welcome to the boards!

Well, can't help you with finding folks in Utah, but, let's discuss your friend issue. Personally, if that was me, I would mostly likely reply, "Well, I guess you don't have a headache because you weren't hurting before. Or, guess you don't have asthma because you could breathe just fine before" But, it would probably be good to take it on a nicer note :) Anyway, it's important that people you come in contact understand you can't consume gluten and that it is very harmful to you. Maybe your parents can convince them? Hope whatever best for you works out. =)

If you need anything, give me a PM!

  10. I almost hate the new Subway ads more than pizza hut. I never did like PH pizza, but am a big fan of sub sandwiches. Especially the toasted kind (several chains come to mind here).

DW makes me some gluten-free bread at home to have my toasted sandwiches on, but deep down I know they're not quite the same.

Oh I absolutely feel the pain of the Subway commericals. Espeically when the good and cheesy-melty stuff comes out.

  11. I'm the only gluten-free person in my house like many others. I've never had a problem with CC and the mircowave before. But, if you're having some problems, go out and find a mircowaveable lid that you place over your food just for your food and then one for the rest of the family. Those are made to keep your soup or whatever's in there from exploding all over the walls in the mircowave  , but, it'll keep your mircowave clean. Just a normal wipe down in there should keep your CC-free.

  12. Just happens that I ordered my hair dye from Hottopic!

Wow! It's amazing how many colors you dyed your hair, Smunkeemom! I wish I could do that! I remember reading an article on Hottopic about how hard it was to get band shirts back then.

CarlaB- Ouch :o , I know that had to painful! I think would look really nice in your hair, the flower in your hair in your avatar looks really pretty as it is.

  13. Welcome here!

I love your point of view. It's very positive to me. That's right, there's treatment out there for us that serves to help protect us from diseases. We're not perfect, so, we're going to have illnesses. I'll remember this post, especially during my ups and down that I've been having. Take it easy, Sandy.

    -Ash

  14. Thanks guys! That makes me feel better, just the slightly contact with gluten makes me miserable

Patti- Don't worry! I'm not dying my entire hair green, just the tips ends. It's also semi-permanent. It'll only last about 3-6 weeks. Anymore and my Mom would not be happy. During the school year, my best friend who moved to Virginia Beach, VA and I had planned to do this over the summer, since our dress code will not allow for 'distracting hair styles/colors'. Just best friend thing, I like different things.

Oh, and had some blood work done for the Anemia, and everything came back negative. So, I don't know what's going on there. I'll let ya know if anything else comes up. But, hopefully this'll put me on a track towards something that'll help. Thanks Patti :D

being a person who used to have green hair, there are generally 3 reasons, most people have at least one, some have all three

    1 you like green

2 you like to freak people out

3 you feel like doing something fun, and believe me, when you are a teen is the only real time you can pull off green hair (although some can do it into their 20's I am NOT one of those people)

    *misses her green hair* :(

True, true  , except that second one. That only applies to my friends. Yeah, I agree. Seeing someone older than teenager with green hair looks weird.

  15. I got my Special Effects Iguana Green hair dye today and I'm pretty sure it's gluten-free, but, it's got some of those really long ingredient words on it.

    There's the list:

H20 to one hundred, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Benzyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Mixes of Dyes, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methlparaben, Propylparaben.

If anyone can tell if there's something hidden in one of these ingredients, or abosolutely gluten-free, I'd sure would be thankful. :)

  16. Felidae- I already have went to the doctor, stated in first post. In the exam, they found no hemmoroids, or fissures. I'm not really exeriencing any kind of itching.

clover- doc told me to bump up the fiber too. I sure do hope this does us some good.

Ursula (beautiful name by the way!) -I really hope I don't have any other intolerances. I do try to consume as much water as I can each day. My diet's so pitiful I'm not sure what I get everyday. But I'll try something or another.

Katie O'Rourke- I love apple juice, I got some a few days ago! I'll see what happens first with what the doctor told me to do, if that's doesn't help, I'll suggest the suppositories.

  17. I feel like I'm going to explode...for almost a month, my stools have been covered in blood. At first, lightly, but now they're completely covered. Went to the doctor, had a nice little exam <_< and got put on a powder lax to help soften the tools up. Suppose to go back in 2-3 weeks. If I had no blood, I take a specimen and that'll probably be the end of it. If there is still blood, I'll have to go to Vandy visit my G.I (who is the best ever) doctor at the childern's part. My reg doctor assured my that it was very unlikely that it's Crohn's Disease.

But, I'm having terrible bloating. Combined with the celiac bloating, I look and feel like I gained fifty pounds over night. I'm so miserable.

I have finals this Thursday and Friday and I really feel out of it. Any suggestions? Thanks

    -Ash
