Don't tell me that. I'm aftaid to get my kids results this week. I'll need a soulder to cry on if they have it.

I seem to be able to eat eggs in cookies. But in the pancakes it is questionable. Though it seems to be ok in french toast. So that brings me back to the baking mix.
How would you decifer the culprit out of the ingredients. clueless. How do you test for egg alergy? Can alergy Dr. do test for eating eggs alergy? Could he be of any more help with baking ingredients and my potential allergy? Thanks.

We finally got 6 yr old tested. They had me wait outside of room. That did the trick. There was some screaming, but they did get it, took 3 of them. Oh my.
-
So should I just go for it and try the test again tomorrow in the morning or wait until after school. Please give me your advice. The buzzy was a cute idea, but I'm not going to get one by tomorrow. How about a bag of ice. I could bring some in a cooler and we could ice it. I used ice when we did IVF shots and the frozen bag of peas was a life saver. So maybe that is a good idea. Not sure how it works with the veins.Do you think they could find her vein better in the morning since it is over 100 her in the afternoon. They told us to bring her back at 10:00 for 3 people to be there. A good idea. Just don't know. Thanks so much.

I can eat gluten free cakes and cookies no problem. It just seems to be the pancake mixes. How do I test for this. I can eat buttered toast. So pretty clueless at this point. I eat millet bread no problem. I can eat potatoes. Not sure about the quinoa. I had surgery 3 weeks ago, almost 4 so things could be messed up in there. Do I take immodium if I have trouble and have to drive? How do you all cope if you get a reaction?

Does anyone here have IBS? Books say you need to eat a little all day to not get the d. Is that true for you?
Also does anyone know about gluten-free pancake mixes? I seem to get the d the day I eat them, any clue here? This time it was bisquick?

I haven't taken any today and yesterday. I had major surgery 3 wks ago. This evening I got it bad at church. I had gluten free soup and chips before and then within 30 minutes, it started. Sorry to be graffic, I went a whole bunch and then had the runs pretty bad. But did anyone else experience this? The meds back me up, so I'm hoping it may be related to this. I don't have a bug. 4 months ago I was diagnosed with celiac. I am in quite a bit of pain from not taking the meds. I'm wondering if the sensation of pain in that area is causing the poop sensation, I just don't know. I'm quite worried. Imodium helped, but I was hoping to be done with that after the celiac diagnosis. So bummed.

If someone could tell me more about the numbing patch, I'd sure appreciate it. What is it called? Do I need a perscription? I want to get her tested, please help. For those that already chimed in, thanks. Anything to pick up over the counter?
The blood draw office suggested getting her tested between 10:00 and 2:30,most techs on duty. But 2:30 was a bad time. So should I just take her back at 8:30 with no numbing patch or call ped for numbing patch or what? Bacause dad had no luck. I just can't not test her because she's stubborn. They wanted to do her hand and she'd have no part of it. She's a six yr old swimmer, very strong! So it would take 10 techs to hold her. I want to get rid of all the gluten bread that is everywhere for my safety and know first I should test her.

Ok daughter was so apprehensive that they tried for an hour and a half. Two uncessful sticks. My husband is cursing needless to say. I'll try again next week earlier in the morning. Advice on successful testing would be appreciated! She's 6 and willful like noone's business. So frustrating. So those of you that really don't need the test for the school to listen, think twice. We did have sucess with son, 7. He was a champ.

I am reading this thread and wondering if my biopsy was correct if the endo Dr. said he only took 1 sample. Is my confirmation accurate if he only took 1 sample?
One poster said you need many for an accurate diagnosis. Someone please explain.

I'll let you know the results. Gotta love the prize box!

I'm a bad speller sometimes. Thanks for the answer.

My husband wants him to have it because he does not realize how bad he behaves when he has it. The teachers usually pass out the cup cakes right out the door or the last 5 minutes of class. So they don't experience the behavior. I approached the school last yr and they don't want to change anything. Holliday parties are super out of hand. Every mom brings a cake and they are all served. The teachers leave it up to the parents and take no responsibility for it. Two wonderful parents took a responsible approach in dd's class with parties, not so in son's class. Thanks for listening.
I'd at least like the teacher to tell me when he is served a cup cake and the colors and in a perfect world she'd tell me the day before what is being brought so I could plan accordingly. The teacher last yr refused. Lets pray for a better year. I have a signed medical note in his file for food dyes and sugar. What are my rights and how do I learn what they are? I am in CA?

With all of our stomach aches, not sure if it is safe or not?

How do I get him tested for food dye? Two days ago he went into an itch session for hours with an itchy mouth driving him nuts with lots of crying. We didn't know what it was from. He was sweeping leaves right before. So we think it was some kind of allergy to plants. We are going to ask for an epipen to be on the safe side.

I just don't know what to do for the school year. Do I try to allow it to be fed to him in moderation or just say he can't have it period? He gets mean and has no self control when he eats it. Grandma fed him a big slurpy that was red today and when they got home, I knew something was wrong by his behavior. If you know of a forum dealing with this that could hel me, please let me know. Thanks.

My mom thinks I am wrong to get the kids tested for celiac. She says they don't have symptoms and if they test positive "with no symptoms" that would be mean of me to make them eat gluten free. I'm going to get them tested next week. Just kind of bummed with no family support. How do you explain this to family members?
-
Wasn't real happy with the info on the phone so does anyone know? Thanks so much. Person on the phone didn't assure me for sure.

Thanks Gluten Free Mama for the web site. It is perfect. It is so good you should have it on the home page here. They have a new e-book. Good read.
-
Thanks for helping me see it in a different light, didn't meen to ruffle feathers. Sorry.

to be gluten free? Has anyone had problems with it when made from wheat? How do we know it is gluten free?
-
My kids are 6 and 7 and so messy. Crumbs always everywhere. They are always eating bread. Everything must have gluten all over it. I haven't healed completely so getting rid of all the gluten crumbs may help me. That is why we would go at least gluten bread free. We make bread gluten free. If we can figure it out, we will do it.
-
How is it that they say to test family members every 3-5yrs? What if we go gluten free as a family? How would a test like that work?

I can relate so much to your post. Yes last year with my son's teacher, I was the crazy mom. And you hit it on the nail that the school wont listen unless a Dr. diagnoses it and in his file. My school didn't even comply with that. I've been doing a lot of reading and schools can be in a lot of hot water legally if they don't comply with a Dr.'s written notice in their file. I read up on the I forgot if it is the 504 plan or 405 plan described in a recent magazine, Living Without. Look up the plan. It is a federal gov. plan and under the FDA. If you can't find it, I'll look for the web site. I learned a lot reading it. I had behavior notices in my kid's file re dyes in food. The teacher thought I was crazy and ignored it.
Support Groups?

As to what I can tell so far, there is no support group in this area for celiac. Have you been in a group or ever thought to start one. Does ANYONE know of a good one in place that would share their agenda and what they do? This is something that has been on my mind. I don't know about you, but for me this is hard at times. We put so much work into all we learn here and elsewhere. Wish we had a place to vent and share.
