Tell them you will make a law suit if they don't abide by these orders. In one school that I sub teach in they have a big poster in the class and in the teacher's room of food allergies of the students. Make one yourself and hang it in the teacher's room. I am sorry this is happening. Also I know that if schools cannot serve your student, it is your lawful right to attend another school. I don't know how to go about that. I just know it is law in CA.

  2. I ate an Amy"s burrito and a tiger milk bar that I thought was gluten-free. I ate the burrito yesterday. I had a terrible reaction this afternoon. I am trying to figure out the source. Grr. So are tiger milks all gluten-free? What do you know and I'm thinking the spice may have done a number on me as well. I had an extra cup of coffee with almond milk as well. I despise when I can't figure out the problem. What are your thoughts?

Also does taking an Imodium the day before make a reaction worse? I just took two more Imodium as well. I hate taking the stuff.

How do you get back on track asap and leave reactions behind?

  3. My son's teacher says she suddenly lost 8 pounds and is loosing her hair and is having an endless pd. She knows I have celiac so confided in me as to what is happening to her. She has had 3 kids and is 31.  What do you celiac.com docs think this could be. She does not have other symptoms. But turned to me for ideas. Can you help me out? I'd love to share your ideas with her. Of course we are all the most medically informed people on the planet so someone here may have an idea. Thanks a bunch.

  4. I had some tea today, but had cheese and hallapinio(SP?) two days ago by mistake. They put it on my sandwich at Red Robin. GRR After asking them not to. So I don't know what I'm reacting from. I had a bad reaction last Friday as well. I had some wine last night too. I know that can trigger IBS feelings. Has anyone ever been sensitive to tea or cafein products? I'm just so sensitive right now. I may be over stressing it.

  5. :( I had a reaction a few days ago. I think I ate crackers made on shared equipment from Trader Joes, so bummed right now. I hate coping after I have a reaction. I hate having my gut in a knot. I just took the generic lomotil. I hate taking it. I have to drive kids to soccer a half hour away. Ug . It is wanting to do the complete dump right now. Anyone relate? I think I have to give up all coffee until this is better. So bummed. Thanks for listening.

  6. A little girl in my son's class has unexplained anxiety issues that are new along with stomach issues with her anxiety. She gets the anxiety when she is separated from mom. She is in 4th grade. She crys a lot lately. Could it be a gluten related issue? The mom wants to try anything. Should I tell her to get a celiac test? Should I suggest going gluten-free? I have celiac. What do you think? She is ready to try anything? Thanks so much.

  7. My 9 yr old did not test for celiac on the bood test. However he has frequent stomach aches, unexplained and has unusual accid wear on his teeth. The dentist does no know much about celiac. I have celiac. But the dentis said that my son shows accid pooling in his sleep on his teeth. What do you all think? Could my son have celiac and not have it show up on the test? His stomach aches and accid tooth issues make me wonder. We saw 2 Dr.s after, the primary and and ear nose throat Dr. No one thought of celiac as an issue. What do you think? Dentis thought milk was a problem, but other 2 Dr.s said milk is fine for him. We eat gluten-free for dinner. But he does eat gluten for breakfast and lunch. The tooth thing has me wondering.

  8. I'd say if I had to guess sugar is the worst of it. Food dyes may contribute, but sugar and chocolate and food dyes make my son crazy hyper. I am the gluten-free one, but when he gets sugar and the above and lack of sleep and no exercise, he's a mess. Leke the others said, you can eat gluten-free for cheap. All our dinners are gluten-free period at home. The kids like eggs and fruit and ham, most breakfasts, all gluten-free. Fruit is gluten-free. You can eat reular bread and buy some for only him. Does he have celiac? But if you are going to make any change make sure he gets enough sleep and get rid of sugar and chocolate. That is worse than food dyes, I think.

  9. I used to live in Oceanside near you. There is Whole Foods in your area. Find a clerk to help you. Yes it is nornal to feel this way. Lots of people have panic attacks when they first get celiac. I did. It was super bad. For me almost post war disorder. I was a real mess. Sometimes I get to be a mess again when I have a mystery flare like today. As for bread, there are many good gluten-free breads. I like them better than regular bread. and there are tons and tons of gluten-free pasta out there. They take a while to get used to but are ok. We eat them all the time. I hope that helps. Get some good gluten-free magazines. There are many out there. Check amazon or ask others what they like. But I garantee, in San Diego you will have lots of support. My aunt is in SanDiego and finds good gluten-free food because she is gluten sensitive. So I know it is there. Let us know if we can be of more help.

I just read post above. Be careful eating out until you heal. I would avoid it for a few months. Learn from my mistakes. It can mess you up in the beginning learning what you can eat. Many people have lots of other issues too as you will learn on here. Food issues that is.

  10. For me lactose has all of a sudden become like what you are describing. Especially yogert and cheese and full fat dairy dressing. So get rid of all dairy and just eat your super safe foods. Applesauce, plain safe gluten-free bread. Eat just that for a while and see what happens. Hope you are better soon. Tonight I'm there with you with my own mystery blow outs. NO FUN and I was doing so well. I think mine is coffee. :(

  11. I hate it when I don't know what does it and after I was doing so well. Have many people given up coffee, soda,

tea? I went to the gym and was fine and then came home and had a diet coke and the rest of my morning coffee and a few sips of yesterday's tea. Then felt girgly, but wanted to get take out for the kids. We went to pick it up and it hit like a train. I had to take 2 imodium while there. I hate that when I was doing so good. Sometimes I get lax after a span of doing so well. My dd said her stomach was bothering her so maybe it is a germ in our house. We had a fun night of drinking at my aunts a few night back. That could have made me more apt for an issue. Who knows. I also ate some semispoiled sunflower sprouts. I hate taking imodium because then it may plug for a few days and then have this same problem. I'll try to skip the coffee tomorrow. lol

On a better note, Happy new year everyone. I wish everyone a symptom free year. (In our dreams, I know. But I can wish it anyway.) :)

  12. Hi -

I'm a type 1 diabetic and suspect myself to be at least sensitive to gluten (still pre-diagnosis here) and I was wondering if anyone knew of a brand of bread I could try that was gluten free, low carb but still tasted good? I tried one at my local supermarket and it tasted like card board so have been a little hesitant to buy anything since...any advice?

Most people like the taste of udis. Low carb, I don't know. Sometimes you have to try several before you like one.
