  1. Here's a long article about the movie:

I haven't read the whole thing, but apparently the science in the movie is sometimes sketchy.

And here's an article that has tons of links to other articles that discuss the bad conclusions drawn by the vegetarian crowd in relation to The China Study, which is apparently at least part of the basis for the movie's conclusions: Open Original Shared Link

Thanks for support. Today dh called and said the diatitians at his hospital said this is not a good way to eat so he concented to eat a little meat every few days. Somethimes you have to say there is a God. But he wants to eat this way most of the time.

  2. That movie is very one-sided only supports vegetarianism. Human beings are carnivores.

I really appreciate replys because it is so hard on me and my kids. Most things with my 7 yr old are war and this just adds another thing. That is what is so hard. Some kids love to drive a wedge between parents and this is one of those kids. I have to tell her that I'm the boss and she WILL eat the food that I fix. Daddy is going through a phase right now but she will eat the food I fix, super tough with no support. I just wasn't expecting this. Dumb me. I appreciate all thoughts. I can take it. I might cry, but I can take it. I have celiac, IC, dairy issues and more not figured out. So a vagan dh out of the blue is tough and then kids that now wont eat their dinner because daddy wont. @#$%^

I love this forum and an so thankful for it.

  3. Three days ago my dh declaired he is now vegan after our dentist told him to watch it. Could you please watch it and tell me what you all think. Do you really think that all meat will cause cancer and everyone who eats any meat will have to have heart bypass surgery. That is what the movie teaches. Is there any research that refutes this movie. Anything that teaches that small portions of meat does not cause cancer and is ok? I could really use some help. I have 2 small kids 7 and 8 and now they wont eat their dinner because daddy isn't eating it anymore. We used to eat quite healthy but daddy is always an extremist. I'd love some research that shows that this is old research and small amounts of meat are good for you. Or weigh in as you feel. I am really bummed that our family is now devided. The kids are the ones that are now confused. This is really touch for me.

  4. And if you got a crockpot, you could toss everything in there in the morning, set it to low, let it cook all day and it would be ready when you are. biggrin.gif A few chicken drumsticks, onions, garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms, voila, chicken cacciatore. laugh.gif Serve over gluten free noodles, enough for several meals.

    .

You have a big budget to work with. I'd try the cooking thing. You can always go back to the meal plan. I think you may miss the social stuff from the meal plan. You could bring you food and eat with friends. Try this plan. My husband loved the social aspect of college.

  5. As I recall there are health type markets there. Look them up and give them a call and ask. How about bringing lots of food and telling your mom not to touch your food. That is what I'll be doing next week. My parents get it a little bit, but not totally. Get some boars head sliced meat to take for yourself. The ham is yummy. Make some hard boiled eggs. Bring some gluten-free nuts and your bread and some fruit. That is what I'm going to do. :)

  6. Ask them to pull cheese and lettuce from a new container. I do, and they happily do it.

Yes, I'm sure there's some cc but it is very minimal. Remember the only gluten is the flour tortillas...

Their meat is too spicy for me and makes me sick, but the service is good. Not much I can eat there. I just learned I can't do cheese.

  7. Another alternative is clarified butter (ghee), which is butter with the milk proteins removed. I am very sensitive and find I can tolerate that just fine and I like the taste even better than regular butter. Excellent for baking too, as my gluten-free/DF/SF choclate torte will attest. Purity Farms is certified casein free ghee and happens to be the one I can get my hands on most easily.

Thanks. I'll check them out. :) I love butter and need something to use in baking. It is bad enough to give up ranch dressing and cheese.

  8. Does anything else work more gently than imodium you'd suggest I try. Something that returns you to normal more quickly. After I get unplugged, I often get the runs again and have to take another imodium to drive and get in this cycle. Could I be sensitive to dairy and soy milk? Yogert seems to due me in these days. Would that make any sense, but I'm ok with cheese and tofu. I'm so confused. :( I'd love your thought on how to get out of this cycle and what to try.

  9. I have a cycle going on with imodium. I get the runs take imodium, get stopped up and then get the runs again and then take imodium again. I really want to break the cycle and need help. I get so much pain from the imodium or from I don't know what from. What else can I do when I get the runs other than imodium? My dh says sometimes people get d when your body pushes the poop around hard stool. I just feel so frustrated and am getting discouraged. I am eating gluten-free. Should I stop dairy? I really don't know where to turn. Thanks for listening. I have to do a lot of driving this week and really don't want to have to take imodium. I don't want to have an accident either.
