  1. I learned I can't eat any steak, but I can eat hamberger. I've tried it about 5 times. Everytime I eat the roat or tritip I get sick. But I can eat ground up hamberger. There may be something you can no longer tolerate and it takes time to figure it out. I am still clueless about several things. For me, I try to eat plain everything. I Stick to one kind of bread and eat plain meat, a starch, plain and a vegetable plain. I am ok that way. Simple plain eating is the way to go. Stay away from processed food since you are new to the diet. The frustrating thing is you may still get sick from the gluten-free food because there is something else in there that you can't tolerate, so frustrating. So try those foods on the weekend if you are brave. Hope you are better soon.

  2. I agree with Richard that Kinnikinnick is super reliable. But something in the doughnuts makes me sick, perhaps not gluten. But it gives me the runs. So maybe that same ingredient was in the cookies. I've eaten these rice cakes before with out issue. There are so many ingredients that it is hard to believe that something in there did not make me sick. I can eat garlic in moveration, but even the onion powder has me wondering. Yes I need to stick to the only one new thing rule. I think someone else will finish the cheese and rice cakes. I returned the cookies. I'm baffled that I can eat the grahm Kinnikinnick cookies no problem.

  3. The quaker bag says gluten free on it. Do you think there is something in the lowfat babybell or is there a fat or something I'm sensitive to in those cookies? Kinnikinnick doughnuts make me sick too. So I'm wondering if the same ingredient is in this kind of oreo like chocolate cookie. Anyone have some insight? Do you think the quaker gluten free cracker got cross contaminated somewhere? I'll stick with the plain ones I get and never get sick.

  4. I got super sick yesterday. All I ate that was different were 3 things. At about 1:00. I had 2 Kinnickinick oreo cookies, gluten-free, then at about 4:45 I had a quaker rice cake that had the cheese powder on it. I also had a low fat Baby Bell Cheese. At 5:00 it all exploded and I took 7 imodium to make it stop. I had to drive my little one a half hour down the freeway a half hour later. We stopped once. It was miserable. Today I still haven't gone, but I'm not exploding. So what do you think it was? I hate not knowing. I'm thinking about returing the cheese and cookies.

  5. For me, I've realized that some fats make me sick and come to think of it I react to many chocolates. I don't like chocolate anyway. Maybe try white chocolate. I really watch desserts because I'm so sensite to the fats. I can do kaniccanic (sp?)

cookies with no problem. I get sick from their donuts, real sick. So I've decided it must be some fats. I get sick from some spices, not sure which ones. Maybe you may react to chocolate. Our body gets funny after celiac disease. It is always a work in progress.

  6. I think I need to try the no processed food diet and get rid of coffee as well. If I don't get better, I'll try whatever it takes. What about the things you are quite sure of like my gluten-free bread? It is fun to see you on here rosetapper. :)I have never really reacted to corn or rice or feta before so the reaction is new and that is what is sooo frustrating. What is the best way to do a corn challenge?

  7. I get very frustrated and down when I have a reaction and especially when I don't know what it is. I want to return to work, but am scared out of my mind. Do I warn the principal and other teachers and say occationally I have a reaction and have to go to the restroom due to celiac. Or what should I tell them. I also want to sub but am afraid of if I have to go during class. Should I quietly tell the school secretary, the nice one that if I call and need her to come watch the class for a second, she will know what's up ahead of time. I can't let this condition keep me from living life. What are your thoughts here and how do you do it?

  8. I am sometimes sensitive to corn as in the Pirate Booty. I can eat plain corn and the quinoa pasta that is mostly corn. But I was pretty sick most of the day. That stunks, a day wasted. I think I can eat the plain cheese one. It could be the spinach, I just have no clue, I had to ask the Toyota man to stop as he drove me and my kids home, kinda sad. Any great idea on how to test for the ingredients in the spinach pizza? I think I must be sensitive to some corn. Bisquick is unprdictable and recently made me ill as well. Does anyone know of a healing diet and one that would not make me sick. I want to go back to work and I can't afford to be pooping all morning?

  9. Has anyone had an issue with Pirates Booty? I had some today and have no idea what the cause is of frequent painful poop.

I hate those days when you just have no idea. I hate popping the imodium when you don't know what the cause is. Pirate booty has corn in it. Could I be sensitive to it. I also had gator aide and vitamin water. Any ideas on that? So bummed.I post every few months when I have the issue.

  10. Anyone eat out ever gluten-free in MT. Shasta? We are going there tomorrow night and I need ideas or I'll just pack a cooler and bring my food. Not feeling there is anything safe there. I called Lilly's but the cook didn't let me explain what cross contamination was and said he felt offended I'd ask about his cooking. He said he had been in business 31 years and noone ever asked about his kitchen practices. He says he does cook gluten-free, but wouldn't let me aske any questions.

  11. Today I ate a protein shake and gluten-free o's. As soon as I had to go to the store with my kids, I had to go again. I had to go again at the store, barely making it. At first I feel nautious and then I have to poop. I just took 2 imodium. I haven't had gluten. I just don't know. I had an Amys tv dinner last night and cottage cheese. I also had some coconut died. Should I try to find a diatitian to help me? I'm not sure it would be covered by our insurance. I just hate feeling anxiety like I'm going to get sick in the car. It is the worst. Should I try a certain diet, Palio or I have no idea. I'd love ideas of what to aliminate. The protein shake was soy and diary. Do some people have more trouble with soy than diary? I also ate a big salad yesterday. Was that too much? I would love your thoughts. Thanks so much.

  12. We all feel this way a lot of the time I think. Young and old, it is so hard. I just went to a swim meet with my young kids and I felt the same as you, that I have to explain my diet and life issues. Sometimes I feel people must think I'm wierd. I think the good thing here is you have awsome and I mean awsome caring friends. We are teaching people to be caring and sensive to other peoples' needs as they learn to be caring and sensive to our needs. Take those teenagers from New York for example, they were clueless to being sensitive in any respect. The goal in society is to teach people to be sensitive to all peoples' needs. These are our needs and we can't help it. We are doing nothing wrong. We have to eat this way and yes it is a pain. But the big D is a bigger pain.

The Celiac Disease Foundation has some young people blogging right now. Look up their blog and see if you can meet and comunicate with them. I think 2 kids are teaching 2 newbie kids how to live and eat gluten free. Call the Celiac Disease Foundation or e-mail them to learn about it.Also there is a young girl who has a blog called Gluten Freed. I met her at CDF conference. She is awsome. See if you can contact her somehow. PM me if you need more ideas and I'll work on that for you. Hang in there. I think you are a strong person. Eating out isn't everything in life. There is so much more. When you get out of college it will be easier and willnot be such an issue.
