  1. One hates to go to the Dr. after we've lived there for so long. I was having some vertigo symptoms and saw a physical therapist and that helped some. This feels more like fatigue related to eating.

My question for Peter is if we are eating gluten-free, how is it related to celiac then? I hard boiled some eggs today. My family already ate half of them. So I'll make more next time. I'll try the meat and nuts and see if that helps. If it keeps up, I'll try the metor.

  2. I get so lightheaded every 2 hours, especially if I work out. I bring snacks to the gym. It is kind of rediculous to be working out and eating so much, but I don't know what else to do if I feel faint so easily. What should I eat if I get hungry easily and then feel faint? It is very hot here, refrigeration is difficult for long mornings with kids at the gym. They swim and do tennis. I catch a class during all the kids stuff if I'm lucky.

  3. I know coffee does me in and I need to get rid of it. It is just so hard. Thanks for your ideas. What should I eat for breakfast to try to lesson this situation? Is there a good gluten-free cereal or I just have no clue. I have to eat some fiber because I had a precancerous polup2 years before my celiac diagnosis. That Dr. told me I should be eating more, but then I get this problem. It is gross, but gets progressively looser. I have to drive my kids 20 minutes each morning to the gym so this is an issue.

  4. I don't think it is gluten. It is kind of embarassing to ask, but I have to go number 2 3 times after I wake up. Is there something I could do, eat differently so I only have to do this once? It is holding me back from going back to work. I'm a school sub and you can't go to the bathroom if you sub and I don't want to say I can work until I can figure out how to eat to not have this problem?

  5. He is 8 and was tested last fall for celiac since I found out last year I have it. Son had a bad stomach ache yesterday. They are random. They appear in the afternoon and when he is more tired. Lots of times before swim practice or during. He appears like he is telling the truth. He thinks he has one. Sometimes he does not want to swim I know. Any thoughts what to try. We take out milk from time to time, but doesn't seem to make a big difference. How do we help them feel better when they hurt in their stomach? We cut back gluten, not out.

  6. Lately I've had IBS symptoms as well as Celiac? Have many people posted about that? I have lots of trouble in the morning after I eat a bowl of cereal. I just want to be nornal. As soon as I get in a car in the morning I feel like I have to go. Makes no sense. I don't know how to handle that, I was doing so good for so long. I don't know if my old csection scar pain makes it worse. Anyone else have this problem? Kind of silly I know, but it has been really getting to me.

  7. We went to Outback on Mother's day. I ordered the gluten-free mahimahi, but the waiter brought me the wrong one with a noodle rice thing on it. I took a small bite, stupid I know and now today I barely made it to my kid's school this morning. I had to stop and bring them into CVS to poop. :( Is this common to have a reaction 3 days later and when should I be normal again and what can I do to get normal again?

  8. Corn starch, by itself, is gluten-free.

I'd be suspicious of any ingredient in a Chinese restaurant that you can't read ingredients of.

Soy sauce (which is usually full of wheat unless Tamari)is ubiquitous and used in many Chinese sauces.

Bottom line, if you can't confirm it don't eat it.

I had brought my own gluten-free soy sauce. I was just wondering if there was a rule of thumb of corn starches. He said they use it in bulk so throw out the container. It seemed ok. Yes maybe I did risk, but he thought it was gluten-free. Good idea so ask a manager. I can always eat it plain I know. :(

  9. We went out to Chinese last night and I ordered something with a white sauce that was made from corn starch. They had thrown out the container, so what do you think? Was the corn starch gluten-free?My husband's smart phone said it was probably safe but may have wheat added as a thickener. Does anyone know? Also how about bottled sweet and sauer sauce? They had thrown out that container too.

  10. Thanks for your thoughts. I'm going to return it or throw it away and probably not eat frys for a while. Something went wrong between the dressing, frys and salad. I'm better today, but feel a bladder problem which I feel when I have a reaction with the d. No fun, hope it passes soon.

  11. I'll join Lisa in saying that in more than 10 years of eating gluten-free I've NEVER found a cheese "coated" or "dusted" with flour. In my mind, that one qualifies as a celiac urban myth.

Thanks all. So you feel it is safe, that is good. I read in Celiac for Dunnies that they put flour on the conveyer belt. So that person should fix her book.

  12. Is there something in there that can cause d.?I had the d bad after we went out to Red Robin. I brought the dressing with me and put it on my frys. I don't usually get sick from the frys. So does anyone know if there is an ingrediant in this fat free dressing that can cause d.? Thanks very much.

  13. Many grated cheeses are dusted with cellulose, which is non-gluten. I have seen none, dusted with flour.

Kraft cheese will identify any form of gluten.

So lets say we go out to dinner, how do we know if it is dusted with flour of cellulose? What is the general rule? My question has gotten a lot of hits, so others must wonder the same thing too.

  14. The medical Dr. may not know anything. Mine didn't regarding celiac, absolutely stupid. The blood test just came about 10 years ago and mine know nothing. Can you see a demitologist? My dentist is clueless about celiac too. He has no clue that celiac causes emamal to deteriorate. So you need to see first the Dr. that did your blood test, then a dermitologist.I've heard some know about celiac. And I agee with the others, get rid of the holistic one. Eating gluten free can be cheap if you want it to be. It just takes planning and that is the hard part.
