I'd like to know this too. Trader Joes has some things. That's all I know. Let me know what you learn.

Thank you for starting this post. I'm going to show it to my restaurant that I'm working with Mary's in Redding. Show it to your favorite gluten free restrant too and say this is WHY you do what you do for us not to be scared and afraid and to be safe. The starter of the post really captured this point in the first post.

Anymore, I was hoping to share a few with them.

Hah ! Knew you had to be talking about NorCal or SoOregon with that post. Yep, Mary's Pizza Shack can do gluten free pizza .... and Black Bear Diner, not so much, plus the service is dreadfully slow.
The service is wonderful in Redding. In fact the manager there was nice. He gave me the corporate number and the gal answering the phone at corporate was dreadful and her boss was dreadful!!! But I can't say anything bad about the Redding location. The manager said he could make me eggs and fruit and that is about it. I'm just taling out loud but maybe I should go back and say no luck with corporate however could we make one food item for just this location and then I could post that here for advertizing. Maybe I'll do that.

Do you want to say what city that is? If I go there I would know. I like a good pizza when traveling.
Anderson or Redding CA

I partly agree. We went to the Fairfield one and service was fair. They messed up my order and brought me the fried chicken salad even though I said gluten free. They fixed it after a while. I love our local one and the service is wonderful. Maybe it depends on location.

Hi Rosetapper,
Really good things are happening and it is all because of you. Thanks for being my friend on here. I just an entire Second Step program brand new donated to my kid's school and it is really because of you. You got me off my duff and out into the community. Thank you.

Why do some people have to be rude. No business for them. Thank you Mary's Pizza for caring and being kind to us. We are just people like you and want to be treated kindly.
-
Sylvia what do you put on yours and how do you make your crust?
-
We go there quite a lot for lunch. Yes the protein-style burgers are messy, hubby just ends up eating it with a knife and fork.
The fries are fried in a dedicated fryer, BUT, the manager told us if they get busy, they may use the dedicated fryer for other things.
That is why we go to lunch at 11:30.
Then it wouldn't be a dedicated fryer if it was used for other things. That is a confusing thing for them to say!

Can you help me find some restaurant menus on line that have good examples of what a good gluten-free menu should look like? I showed the manager Outback's today. Can you think of any others that you could tell me and list their website where the menu is listed. I'd sure appreciate this. They are looking for more bar drink examples and desserts as well.

That's what I needed to know. You all are so helpful.

I'm thinking about doing a Dine Donate with our local Red Robin in Redding. I just want to make sure Red Robin in general has been kind and earned our business. Please let me know.

At that age you will have to lead by example. She will need to see your family eat it. Dinner should be easy to fix that way. If you need ideas, lots of people are here to help.

Quincy,
Ask your pt if he has any articles he has written on this subject or ask him to write an article. I am very interested if he has further info on this subject since my ob who is the bladder specialist in this town, does not know that celiac can cause bladder issues! He just thinks I'm crazy. I just had a hyst. due to bladder, uterus pain. So this of extreme interest to me. PM me if get further info or a web site or anything further on this issue. Thanks so much.

That was my main symptom when they were trying to figure out what I had. The ob said I had interstitial cystitis and the gastro Dr. finally said celiac and called the ob and told him he was wrong. It was quite a production. Two headstrong Dr.s both saying they were right. Never want to repeat that again. This aspect of celiac needs to be further researched. It would be worth a call to Gluten Free Living Magazine and ask them if they could ever do an article on this.

Go to GIG's homepage and they have in the middle of their homepage a little rectangle that says Chef to Plate on it. Click on that and it will explain what it is. It is free to restaurants that already have safe good gluten free menues in place. GIG provides posters and table toppers saying that the restaurant provides a gluten free menue. This is to further educate the public about the restaurant's gluten free options. Pretty cool. I got the Redding Mary's Pizza Shack on board yesterday. Hope you all get your favorite gluten free restaurant to participate too.

My husband says high salt can give us these symptoms and all the stuff is high salt.

I'm thinking about it and am in nothern CA. Anyone else? Anyone else done this before? Please share your experience.

My dh says to get rid of salt and sugar too and most fats. He is sickeningly fit, so he has some good insight.

Thanks Sylvia! Perfect.

I have to go there next weekend for kids swim meet. Please let me know if you know of restaurants that are safe. Thanks.

Janet,
Are you saying they all have a gluten-free menu in your list? I'm going there in two weeks. We are staying at the Dream Inn. Is there anything on the warf or near Dream Inn you'd suggest? Any Asian you know of that is safe? Thanks so much. That is a really good list.
