Hey Michelle!
Yes, I saw the post in the thread where we're discussing the pill. I posted some there too. Thanks for passing on what you've come across. Amazing isn't it. Oh and I too LOVE tea tree oil.

I just read something today about Irish and Celiac and that there is a connection. I went to post the article for you and now can't find it. If I come back across it i'll post.

I've been trying to find more info about yeast infections and celiac as i'm very intrigued by this as well as curious now if this is why I too had the yeast infection from hell last week. I've had yeast infections on and off since I can remember but have been lucky (compared to those of you who've had the infection constantly, I couldn't imagine. WOW, my heart goes out to ya'll). Anyhow, I came across this article (hope the link works). I'm a little confused on if the Candida Albicans they discuss in the article is the same thing as what we think of as Candida/yeast infection or if it's just a different strain or what. If anyone has any other info about yeast and celiac please share b/c I really want to learn more about the connection between the two. Thanks!

Here's another article that seems easier to read:

Last summer (end of June) I went off Ortho Tri Cyclen....heavier periods w/ increased cramping and ZITS! I looked like a teen going through puberty. So I went back on the pill, Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo around Oct/Nov...I was having a period for 2 weeks at a time and even heavier bleeding and even more severe cramps. I then switched to Yasmin in Jan and since then....RELIEF!!!! Light periods (which is GREAT, skin has claered up and cramping is minimal. I've been looking to see if it's gluten-free but haven't found anything yet and haven't had time to e-mail the company. If anyone knows I'd love any feedback.
We want to start a family in the next few years. I admit, i'm dreading coming off the pill and having to go through the same "puberty" like symptoms, but I realize it could be worse and if it means a healthy baby then I can sacrafice looking zitty for awhile. HAHA!
Good luck and thanks for posting. Good question!

I've been eating the plain ones by Quaker too w/ no problems.

WOO-HOO! Thanks for sharing this. I'm still new to all this and learning the good from the bad so i'm excited b/c for me this is something "new" that is safe to eat! And just in time for the weekend! Whoopee!!

I like to make my own "trail mix".....(i.e. peanuts, candy corn, dried fruits, nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips, sunflower seeds)
Have a great time!!

Okay...before I was dx w/ Celiac I took 2 chewable Flintstones everyday (per a nutritionist) b/c I am a whimp and can't swallow a typical "womens" daily vitamin b/c they are such horse pills. (yes, you're allowed to laugh at me )
Does anyone have any suggestions for either a decent tasting chewable vitamin or even a decent tasting liquid vitamin?
Also, to all the lovely celiac ladies out there...do any of you take extra calcium supplements? If so, any suggestions? Remember, i'm whimpy. I can't seem to swallow anything bigger than your standard tablet/capsule (i.e. tylenol, motrin, etc.).
Thanks!!

No cheating here....I want to be healthy and that means NO gluten. My biggest issue since i'm still learning (diagnosed end of April 2005, started gluten-free diet May 1st) is "hidden" glutens. I see a nutritionist the first week of June so hope she can provide some more educational info and such. This site has been so helpful as well as supportive. It's clearly evident by all the posts that if you stay gluten-free you feel much better and you're living a healthy lifestyle. I don't know about ya'll, but who wants to cheat and then suffer the consequences of having diarreah, cramping, fatigue, etc. Frankly, i'm enjoying not having those symptoms (even if it has only been a short time for me on the diet). Anyhow, my theory is.... having to be gluten-free is not the end of the world. It could be worse, we could be in a situation where there is no way to heal our bodies. Hang in there everyone and happy mother's day to those of you who are mommy's.

I'm 2 days into being gluten-free myself. I haven't had any pain yet, but yesterday I was exhausted. So much so that I took today off from work, slept in and am now starting to feel better. If you want to keep in touch since we're both starting out at the same time, e-mail me at: turtledupree@hotmail.com (put something w/ gluten-free in the subject section so I don't mistake you for junk mail). Good luck and thanks for posting. It's very helpful!

Thanks so much!
Does anyone have a fav bread machine that they can recommend that mixes up our special potions well and bakes well? I keep reading that it's important to find a bread machine that can mix up our gluten-free flours well. But, there are so many bread machines out there and the research i've done on them all runs together at this point.

Hi and thank you for the warm welcome! And thanks for overlooking my horrible spelling in that last post. I was in a hurry.....which seems to be the story of my life. I did have a chance to review quite a bit of the board. VERY helpful. Thank you to everyone who shares. I hope to return the favor as I begin my gluten-free life.
I travel quite a bit w/ my job as well as I commute from SC to work in NC each week (My other half is in the military and currently stationed in SC. Because of my job & the possibility of him deploying to Iraq for a 3rd time in October i'm commuting for now, crazy I know). Anyhow, I plan to pack up my cooler each day and take along snacks, dressings, etc. but b/c of the nature of my job there are MANY times that I get stuck and need to grab something on the road. I'm aware of Wendy's, Chick-Fil-A, PF Chengs & Outback having a gluten-free menu. Does anyone know of any others to add to the list? Or maybe there is a list on here somewhere already that I just haven't stumbled across yet.
Thank you again for your input and support.

Hello -
I'm Turtle! Was just diagnosed a week ago and in the process of learning the ropes. Slightly overwhelemed, mostly at just trying to clear ou the bead stuff in the kitchen and replace it with good stuff. I've been doing a ton of research and appreciate all the good info on this site. I'm relying on the forbidden foods list, etc. to get me started as well as will be seeing a nutritionist (although first available appt is 1st week in June). I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good type of bread machine? I LOVE bagels and figure it would be easiest to learn to make my own. As well as bake my own gluten-free bread. Any insight would be great. I have a ton of other questions but will return later to pick your brains some more. HAHA! Thanks a bunch!
Did You See A Nutritionist?

Hey!
It's taken me over a month to get an appt w/ the nutritionist my dr recommended too. The nutritionist they referred me to is the daughter-in-law of one of the 2 doctors in the practice I go to. I hope she is Celiac educated but I admit I have been debating whether to cancel my appt too. I have to pay out of pocket as well. Although myy insurance said "sure we'll pay for it since it's medically necessary but unfortunately there are no nutirionists in your area, or in any of the surrounding states". IMAGINE THAT!
