  1. You're not alone...there are many of us who have gained weight since gluten-free. You'll find several threads about weight gain and exercise on the boards. Check them out when you have time.

I have gained about 12 pounds. That might not sound like a lot to some people, but for a short girl where it all settles in the waist & belly it's a BIG problem not to mention uncomfortable. I'm happy that my body is abosorbing nutrients but i'm miserable w/ this weight gain.

Many people have suggested trying to stick to eating just meats and fresh veggies and cut out as many carbs as you can if not cut them out altogether. I haven't gotten this strict with my diet yet but I think I need to. I have cut back quite a bit on rice and potato intake. As well as gluten-free bread. Problem is I love all those things SOOOO much! So I guess I need someone in my kitchen to slap my hand. HAHA!

Good luck! PM me anytime to vent or to share any good helpful hints!

  2. ...I realize we're distraught because of the sudden addition to WHEAT at the bottom of the box. I simply meant by my earlier comment....why re-add the wheat? The taste between the first formula and the non gluten free formala was hardly noticeable, so I'm confused as to how this addition of the wheat is considered more popular for their customers, when I honestly believe that most people who aren't gluten free probably never even noticed the change in the formula! I knokw my friends and family certainly didn't, they were even suprised that there was no noticeable change in the taste of cocoa puffs...

Ok, gotcha! No worries! And I agree that what's the need to add the devil (wheat) back into the cereal when like you said it does't effect the taste! I just don't get it!!

    And Nini: I agree!

  3. Dear Miss DuPree:

Thank you for contacting General Mills regarding your dissatisfaction with the recent reformulation of Cocoa Puffs reduced sugar cereal.

Our goal is to give consumers quality products at a good value. Prior to introducing any product, extensive consumer testing is done. We conduct market research and product testing continuously to obtain consumer reaction to existing products and to changes being considered. Only when we feel confident that a product change will broaden its appeal will we alter a product’s formulation. We are sorry that you do not agree that the recent change in Cocoa Puffs reduced sugar cereal was for the better.

We will be sending an adjustment for your purchase to the address you provided. Please allow 7 to 10 business days to receive the adjustment.

We appreciate your loyalty to General Mills and hope you continue to choose our products.

    Sincerely,

    Kristi Goodman

  4. I generally used Gillette razors and have NEVER had any problems...but my sister bought some Bic disposables and she decided she didn't like them and she passed them off to me.

I have never had good luck w/ Bic razors and should have gotten off my lazy shell and gotten to the store before putting myself in a position to only have the Bic razors on hand to use but that didn't happen.

SO...I used the Bic and the result is itchy, itchy, itchy shaved legs!!!

Does anyone know if those little strip things on the razors can have gluten in them and maybe that's the cause of my itchy itch??

Oh yeah, the Bics have been tossed in the trash and i'm off to the store for my Gillettes! See ya! :P

  5. I agree....Destin was once a quaint secret hideaway...NO MORE...it's now wall to wall condos, high rises and other such stuff which has been built up around it everywhere! *SIGH*

And Mouse: the last I heard the causeway still floods...although it did get washed out in one of those HUGE hurricanes last year I think it was...so who knows since it's been repaired how it handles the rain...that's funny you mentioned that...I remember as a kid there were several times we couldn't get across the causeway b/c of this issue.

If we go to Destin, we try to go either in early May or after Labor Day to avoid most of the chaos. It helps somewhat.

Floridanative: HAHA...I grew up in ATL (Dekalb County)! However, I was NEVER one of the crazy spring break kids in Destin...now days it's a free for all and quite scary. Stay away from that time of year if you go back.

  6. If you go down the mtn to Sylva and then go into Dillsboro there are some cute shops there for shopping.

If you go down the other side of the mtn there are some cute shops in Brevard.

If you're looking for shopping, shopping...you gotta go to Asheville!

    Great hiking there too....:)

  7. Yes, the outlet mall there is pretty big...

Here's a link to a calendar of events so maybe you can find some other things to do or special events that might be happening during the time you're there.

Also, if you like to fish you can always do it from the pier not a boat!!!

There is also some neat shopping at Seaside: Open Original Shared Link

Another nice area is Santa Rosa Beach...here's the link to their calendar of events, a lot of times they will have things going on in the gazebo courtyard....be sure to scroll down on this link or you'll think there isn't a calendar of anything there.

  8. The RED BAR! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Haven't heard that in a long time...fun times for meeting up w/ friends for cocktails but I wouldn't eat there either...

Then there is the Donut Hole...the BELOVED Donut Hole...they have the BEST key lime pie on the face of the earth....obviously since learning i'm a celiac there is no more key lime pie for me :(...so I watch everyone else eat it and cry like a baby :(

I did have several safe meals at AJ's....and I shook my shell on their dance floor too! Our tradition is we jet ski then come in and eat and drink and be merry at AJ's....I've been going to AJ's for years...love it there!

I'm trying to think of the name of this other place...AGH it's on the tip of my tongue...they had an all you can eat broiled shrimp nite and man I ate so much shrimp that I almost blew up but it was sooo good! "The Swamp" I think it's called?? Maybe?? It's there near the aquarium...

We went to another place too but it was AWFUL! Overpriced and NOT safe at all!! It was so bad i've blocked it from my brain...but I wish I could remember do I could tell you as a warning...I'll ask my other half when he gets home...maybe he'll remember.

One place I would also NOT recommend if Fudpuckers...NOT safe! And it's not the Fudpuckers it used to be back in the day...it's quite sad actually.

FloridaNative: You are the bravest or maybe the craziest person I know for heading to Destin over Spring Break. UTTER CHAOS doesn't even begin to describe that scene....i'm glad you made it out safely!

JenVan: TONS of fun things to do in Destin....

    The Aquarium

    JET SKIING

    Deep Sea Fishing

    Snorkelin

AJ's is a fun hangout if you like to dance, hear live music and good food and fun drinks too!

I'll post more later after I talk w/ my other half...he'll have some input!

  9. Hmmm....I have frequented Destin and surrounding areas often...i've had the best luck w/ fresh boiled shrimp and a baked potato and of course educating the staff/chef...

I'm very  to hear that The Back Porch has a new chef and he's clueless...that is one of the places I actually had luck eating at safely....Bleh....
