Celiac-Traveler

I love traveling and hiking to capture the spectacular landscapes that exist across the US. Visually oriented, landscape photography provides an outlet for me to capture my love for nature while enjoying the outdoors.

I enjoy traveling and blogging with my husband, Jeff, throughout the world and especially, in the southwest United States. Although I consider myself primarily a landscape photography, I also enjoy capturing the patterns found in the manmade beauty of buildings, cityscapes and old villages. Through a recent trip to Asia, I began to gain confidence in my portrait and street photography.

Diagnosed with Celiac in 2005, I know how hard traveling can be to new and remote places when food options are very limited. Even though various Celiac organizations in the U.S. have advanced the education of Celiac disease and gluten free sensitivities, it is still not main steam in many areas. Overseas, the knowledge of food sensitivities and allergies ranges from extremely knowledgeable (i.e., Italy) to not having a clue (Myanmar). Traveling with Celiac disease is a hardship, and overwhelming at times. There is the constant fear of “will there be anything I can eat?” and “will I get sick?” Since my diagnosis, I have traveled across the US, to Africa, Asia and across Europe. I am familiar with different foods, cultures and practices. My goal now is, through Sweet Light Photos, is to help others to enjoy traveling to new and exciting places without having to stress about what and where to eat.

Sweet Light Photos offers small group photography workshops that provide a rewarding travel and learning experience for those who are passionate about photography and who need to be gluten free.
