  1. http://megannskitchen.blogspot.com/2011/09/nuts-about-chocolate-cupcakes-gluten-free.html?m=1 I don't know why the board is truncating links...but that's what's happening. If it won't go to it the recipe is called Nuts About Chocolate Cupcakes - or search "gluten-free" on the blog. I'll try it later on the computer.maybe it won't truncate it. I'm...
  2. You are "challenged" trying to pursue a Celiac/DH dx because of your ethnicity. They are looking at some entirely different genes and antibodies in Japan for Celiac/DH, for example. If different antibodies and genes are being activated that can make it hard for you to be tested. My advice is to search around PubMed for info on testing in Asian populations...
  3. Well, tonight we're headed to dinner at my FIL's. I'm packing baked beans for all (mine are in a seperate container), and I'm taking a leftover hamburger patty/bun and fixins from Wed. to eat in place of grilled stuff they're making - along with fruit salad (found some great berries today!). And I made some great little flour less chocolate cupcakes today...
  4. I think the biggest benefit to buying at TJ's is the no gluten ingredients PLUS they label many foods with the type of facility it was processed in. If it says "processed with wheat" I steer clear, most of the time.
  5. Their press release has hit the financial papers - WSJ, etc.
  6. Tonight is gluten-free cheeseburger and fries and chocolate coconut shake night...so I can see if that sends that kid screaming to the bathroom like In-n-Out.
  7. Beef short ribs, asparagus, and probably mashed potatoes.
  8. Grits and shrimp (and okra/onion/tomato). I'm thinking oatmeal cookies since I'm cleaning out the freezer and the gluten-free oats have been in there a while.
  9. Was going to PF Chang's for early Mother's Day (hubs headed to Germany tomorrow)...but it's UA graduation is tonight and they are booked solid. So it's Blue Fin. Yay!
  10. Just waaaaaiiiitttt...... I saw one post where an NCGI ate it and got sick. Give it a few weeks.
  11. Well, I found a "flat iron steak" at the store so we're having some sort of fajita thingies. Hubs is home for a few days before heading to Germany (without me), so we're trying to party it up, Bought stuff to make a strawberry/lemon/ginger ale slushy alcoholic nightmare of a drink, and I think there's some creme br
  12. I could see the short post, not the long one.
  13. You may have a FB setting not allowing your posts to be seen by non-friends, or on the web, etc. But I doubt that's the case since one shows up and not the other. You may see it on YOUR profile, but not Domino's because they deleted it, not YOU. You may experiment by posting on a friend's page, asking them to delete it and see what happens. Then again...
  14. Here's the latest from NFCA on why they did what they did. http://www.celiaccentral.org/celiac-disease-in-the-news/note-from-alice-dominos-gluten-free-crust/
  15. 1) if anyone is serious about tracking this debacle (I find it interesting from a case study perspective) you need to start taking screen shots of the NFCA site pages, press releases, specifically the pages about their certification, twitter, FB. 2) ditto on Domino's site, FB, twitter, etc. You'll notice things.....change. My beef with the whole...
  16. I can't find an email specific to this issue, but take your pick here http://www.celiaccentral.org/About-NFCA/NFCA-Team-Staff/30/.
  17. Ok. So I called my local store and told them I wanted a gluten-free pizza. He said ok. I asked about gluten-free toppings and he didn't know and asked me to hold for the cook. I asked the cook about the gluten-free toppings. He said he thought they were all gluten-free. I said I needed to know for sure. So he grabbed his list of gluten-free toppings...
  18. Hmmm...I edited it and it seems to work. It isn't my blog post - its one I found while reading NFCA Twitter feed. I haven't looked at Domino's FB today but they were deleting huge chunks of posts overnight (Monday to Tuesday). When I last looked Monday there were 700+ posts and there were 100+ Tuesday. The posts left were a mix of positive/negative and...
  19. I'm absolutely thrilled Domino's is being honest. I don't see the point in doing what they are doing, the way they are doing it -except to cash in on the gluten-free "diet" trend. But I'm very glad they are being honest (they'd have to be, eventually, when people publicly slammed them for glutening them, so yes it was better to be honest). I do hope...
  20. The Amber designation by NFCA does have a use after seeing what /who they give it to (Domino's bs attempt at gluten-free). It helps me identify where I WON'T eat. So yes, please, restaurants go out and get certified so I know NOT to eat there. Do they have an Amber list? I want it! I can enter them into my map bookmarks under "do not eat there...
  21. my conversation 10 minutes ago with my Dad, overctge phone. ****** Dad: "Welll, your mom got an X-ray and she has pneumonia. They gave her an antibiotic shot". Me: "I'm glad you have a bathroom in the RV". Dad "Oh, that already hit with the first pill they have her". Me: "oh". Dad: "You get that too? You didn't get THAT from me. I don...
  22. Tell him gluten can affect neurological functioning - making you kinda stupid and stubborn. The longer you're on it the dumber you get, and sometimes you just can't reverse it...and all that's left us a pile of dumb-ass that didn't listen to his sister, whimpering on the floor. Okay, I said it and if he isn't too far gone he'll see it when he googles...
  23. I can't imagine anyone who seriously has an issue with gluten or wheat (allergy) trying it. Perhaps if you are gluten light OR if you happen to have a chain that lets you go in and supervise the assembly/baking and tell them how to do it? I love reading the news reports about this - particularly the phrase "mild gluten allergy". WTF is THAT???
