  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Hi Kathy Ann . . . . would like to give you some good news with regard to my neurological status, but unfortunately, I have not found any improvement in symptoms since going gluten free. Oddly, my laboratory said that they didn't have the capacity to perform DQ1 (why I don't know), so I don't know if I have those genes. I did have "first high, then...
  3. I found the most incredible GI doctor from the oddest place -- my EYE doctor! He is very well-connected, as is his wife, with "who is good, who is not" in the medical world. If you have ANY MD's that you like or trust, or for that matter, nurses, PA's -- people who are "in the know" . . . . start asking around. If you know anyone who is an adjuster...
  4. Oh, Cathy, don't eat gluten!!!! You'll have to start back at square one . . . Not Good!!!!!
  5. Oh, I don't think that's what it is that I have, then . . . . mine is just like a balloon fills the top of my stomach . . . I get pretty bad chest pain, then I (often) vomit. Don't think that's the same . . . .
  6. Hey . . . that stuff happens to me while I'm eating . . . . It feels like I have a huge balloon in my stomach and chest and then BINGO . . . it's off to the races. Thanks, Patti -- you're a Peach Melba. (that's a good thing!)
  7. I'm just waiting for someone who googled it to tell us what in the world it is . . . . too tired to google anything today!
  8. Thanks for asking that . . . I was wondering it myself. I love Claussen pickles . . . but haven't eaten them since being gluten-free because I was too scared.
  9. Oh -- I forgot -- I also see a registered dietician -- she specializes in Celiac Disease -- and she is helping me to coordinate my new Celiac diet with a weight lost regime -- not an easy task, considering that I can't walk straight, have no muscular coordination (my brain just doesn't tell my muscles the right thing to do anymore!) and haven't figured out...
  10. Welcome T -- you've joined a great group of people! With regard to my doctors, I see two neurologists -- my celiac is in my brain (NOT in my head!!!) . . . Lynne
  11. Yes! I thought I was the only one who had that! I was so embarrassed, I wouldn't tell anybody! My rheumatologist actually diagnosed me with psoriatic arthritis based on my ears! He said that he could lift the skin -- it was silvery, and it bled underneath. They itch like crazy!!!!! The only thing that helped was when I was on either Methotrexate or...
  12. Karen, you rock! ((((((((hugs))))))) Lynne
  13. I agree with Jen. I bought the Gluten-Free Bible, and I have found numerous errors throughout. I'm wondering if it is because it hasn't been revised, and new information has been coming down the pike through research much more than it was when the book was originally published. Wouldn't recommend it for someone new at this stuff, either. I learned (the...
  14. I had checked Chapstick, and they told me that it did contain gluten . . . I think they're giving out conflicting information . . . Don't know about Blistex, but I do know that Carmex is gluten-free, so is Burt's Bees, Badger Balm . . . I think everybody's listed those, though. . . . .
  15. I think I had scarlet fever when I was a really little kid. . . . I agree with Stacie -- there are a LOT of good gluten-free treats out there! My husband and I like to go on shopping expeditions to see what we can find. He is much better than me at finding the good stuff! Once you get used to that kind of shopping (and that kind of price), gluten...
  16. I'm with susan123 on this one. Frequent UTI's can often be a symptom of a more serious problem. Often, it is also onf of the first presenting symptoms of MS -- another autoimmune disease. Not wanting to scare you, but it is definitely something to get checked out.
  17. You are a physical therapist's dream patient! . . . Lynne
  18. ravenwoodglass: It is so nice to hear someone talk nicely about physical therapy treatment! I'm a physical therapist -- I had my own clinic, but because this stupid disease affects my brain et. al, I had to close it. I specialized in Women's health -- urinary and fecal incontinence, pregnancy, post-partum. The treatment really is fairly effective, isn...
  19. Don't have time to post my tons of bad doctor stories now, but I have to tell you, I love the name of the thread, the comments have been hilarious, and I think this is GREAT!!!!! Lynne
  20. Hi Shirley -- I have inflammation of the Costal Cartilages in my first three ribs on both sides. It hasn't been diagnosed as Tietze's disease, though. I have just been told that I have ligamentous laxity, and that it allows the ribs to move too far through range of motion, which causes the cartilage to inflame. I have a friend who's really knowledgeable...
