  1. It's a steroid cream & that's why it helped relieve the itch. A stronger, better one is Fluocinonide 0.05% - it comes in ointment or cream & you need a script from your doctor.
  2. What country are you in? You need to see a derm NOW & get a biopsy for dermatitis herpetiformis. 60% of us with dh test negative on the celiac blood panel. You MUST keep eating gluten every day until the dh biopsy.
  3. Yep, we sure appreciate the follow up! I am so glad you found a knowledgable GI doc.
  4. Hi Kim! We can't tell just by what you posted. Every lab has different reference ranges so we would need those ranges. Can you please post those? Also, it doesn't matter if you have mild or severe intestinal symptoms as over 50% of diagnosed celiacs did not present with any GI symptoms at all. There are some 300 symptoms associated with celiac disease...
  5. OK, those screen shots turned out so tiny. Anyway, if you go to the Amazon link in my previous post; they have a photo of the back of the package where it states that it is gluten free, kosher, peanut free, dairy free, tree nut free, soy free, egg free. You need not worry about modified food starch in an ingredients list in the US especially when it...
  6. I have dh & just use McCormick black pepper. McCormick single spices are fine. Here's a link to their contact & FAQ's page: https://www.mccormick.com/contact
  7. These are the real deal! My hubby is a hardcore licorice fanatic - black being his favorite & I despise the stuff, can't even stand the odor of it. So he gets no kisses from me when he's been hitting the licorice. https://www.mileskimball.com/buy-scottie-dogs-black-licorice-11-5-oz-350015?sourcecode=MK299SHIP19&gclid=Cj0KCQiA04XxBRD5ARIsAGFygj...
  8. If you wish to reply to just a certain aspect or part of a particular persons post, you click quote & reply & then you can delete the unwanted portions OR you can simply copy & paste the relevant portions from someones post. Then it will ask if you want to paste as rich text or plain text & you choose. Rich emphasizes it's not you speaking...
  9. You're welcome! How are you doing with the RA? May I ask what meds you're on for it & how that's working out for you? I am on Methotrexate - recently upped from 7.5 mg once a week to 10 mg. Doc says I can go up to 20 mg before we have to consider something else. As to the Raynaud's, I'm still struggling with how to control it. I'm about out of options...
  10. Hey Lou, welcome to the board! I can't really answer your question about reaction time to gluten exposure b/c I have dermatitis herpetiformis - the skin presentation of celiac so things can be quite different for me. However, from spending many years here on the board, I can tell you it varies with the individual, with how long they have been gluten free...
  11. Hi Drake & welcome! Have you discussed this with your doctor? Has he/she checked to see if your antibodies are coming down? Do you have copies of your endoscopy report? (You should always get & keep copies of medical records & labs) What was your Marsh score?
  12. It's okay, we ARE here to hold your hand for any future pity parties. Oh & just so you know.....it's quite possible, sooner or later, you will have a teary melt down in the middle of the grocery store. Who of us hasn't? I did twice. Surprised the heck out of myself! We're also here to cheer the victories! And make no mistake, there WILL BE victories...
  13. You know what you just did there? You had a little pity party. OK, they're allowed. I think all of us have had at least 1 & many of us had several. You're in the early stages of learning all the ropes yet. You made a mistake before Christmas. Those cost but you'll never forget the lesson either. It gets better! I promise!!!!! We have a saying.....
  14. I'm still hung up on your rheumy testing. I think it's possible your Hashis is causing those highs on the ANA tests. Read this: https://www.healthline.com/health/antinuclear-antibody-panel#results Mayo Clinic has some good info on RA: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/rheumatoid-arthritis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20353653 ...
  15. Good advise from cyclinglady! Now relax, settle down & breathe a huge sigh. You're cool mom. You're armed with knowledge & can deal with it if you ever need to. You're a good mom.
  16. You should start eating gluten again & wait at least a few weeks before you take the tests. I know you said you have been gluten light but you don't want to blow this. Recommendations are a full gluten diet every day for 12 weeks prior to the blood tests. A slice of bread or a few crackers every day will be enough. I know you don't want to feel bad again...
  17. If you have celiac disease, your immune system responds abnormally to a protein called gluten. ... Your body makes antibodies to the gluten called endomysial antibodies (EMA). These autoantibodies cause intestinal swelling and, if undetected, can damage the lining of your small intestine. https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?contenttypeid...
  18. Hi Kiley, just FYI, you are responding to a post made in 2010. That poster is not around anymore.
  19. OMG! So you base this on one person on Reddit who made sourdough bread said they can eat it??? First off, that person says they have a gluten ALLERGY. There is NO such thing as a gluten ALLERGY. Secondly, YOU are not celiac, you state yourself that you are gluten intolerant, you do not state how you come to that conclusion. You suspect....... wow, great...
  20. Hi Caryn! I'm sorry but it's not as simple as how severe the #'s are. BTW, the ranges would be important b/c every lab has different ranges so we have no idea HOW high your #'s are in comparison to the normal range that lab is using. One positive is all it takes to trigger an endoscopic biopsy. However, it looks like you have 3 positives. Here...
  21. How long have you been on the Dapsone? Those purple marks will fade completely in time. I would say 6 months at the very most. I never did anything to try & make them go away.
  22. Here's another link for you: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/?s=dermatitis+herpetiformis OK, I won't mince words; it'a a flat out crap shoot. The easiest route to a dh dx is a skin biopsy. 60% of us test negative on the celiac serum panel. Also, it's more difficult to find the damage in our small intestine as our damage tends to be patchier. ...
  23. The oven is safe. I repeat, the oven is safe. Especially if you cleaned it. If it's really nasty then put a lid on anything you cook in there. Yes, nuking veggies is fun! If you can tolerate the butter then great. Try it & see Charles. If not, then olive oil is a great substitute.
