  1. You are certainly welcome! I hope you find some answers.
  2. OK, this is what I know...... Stress can & does exacerbate many if not all skin issues & that covers the gamut from acne to hives to eczema to dh. I think climate could have an effect, sure. I know with my dh, when it rained or got real humid, the dh would itch a lot more & seemed to be more bothersome. BUT I have heard (not had personal...
  3. I can't say for positive but I rather doubt it would go completely away for 2 whole years even though you kept eating gluten. I'm not a doctor but it seems like the stress was a really big issue since you say in Central America you totally de-stressed.
  4. And get a new doc; one that has experience in celiac disease b/c the present one sure doesn't. We call IBS the I Be Stumped diagnosis. IBS is a symptom NOT a diagnosis. In other words, it's a big fat cop out.
  5. Do you have celiac disease? I can't say a thing based upon what little info. you gave. You don't say if you have celiac disease or if you suspect it. You don't say what this rash feels like. You don't state any other symptoms you have that you think may be related. You can go get a dh biopsy IF you have been eating gluten every day for the past...
  6. Wow! I am certainly glad that you have been able to get them all tested! You did the right thing.
  7. I agree with Karen that it's most likely an allergic reaction. I would bet it's the scent. However, all fabric softeners contain some oil so it could be that.
  8. Ennis gives good advice. I was in a rush yesterday so sort of answered & ran. On the Bone Broth..... Google how to make it. Don't buy the stuff in a can, make your own. That stuff is your best friend for a while. I can not emphasize that enough. Bone broth is really gentle on your digestive system & yet it is unbelievably nourishing and will go a...
  9. Don't freak out! You're going to be fine hon. Settle down & calm yourself. Really. I promise, it's going to be okay. Do you know that when splayed out, the small intestine will cover a tennis field? That's how much territory there is in there!!! Amazing isn't it? I am positive you have some villi working in there. There have been plenty who have had lots...
  10. bmarsh28, Oh my goodness, if we had a penny for every time what happened to you has happened to someone else, I swear we'd be rich! Obviously gluten is a major problem for you so consider yourself celiac & stay off it. I feel more like you are celiac or pre-celiac than NCGI. There are actually other genes associated with celiac but it's rather rare. We...
  11. Get down off that ledge! NOW! Settle down. It will be okay. You have time. Why don't you pick one cabinet or shelf in a cabinet & put all the gluten containing food in there. So go through each cabinet, one by one, & read ingredient labels. Take a magic marker & write gluten-free on all the stuff that does not contain gluten. In a different...
  12. I don't know why you say your results were negative. The TtG IgG is absolutely positive. None of it matters if you are going to go gluten free anyway.
  13. I am assuming they figure your Gastro will run the celiac serum panel. That sure is weird though. A PCP or GP or any doc can order the celiac blood panel so I don't know why they ONLY ran the one checking to see if you are IgA deficient. Keep eating gluten every day!
  14. Heinz catsup does not have gluten in it!
  15. Here is the diet: Anything not in the column "include" is not supposed to be eaten. I could not use the gluten-free supplemental formulas b/c they all contain carrageenan which makes my dh rash go nuts as it is high in iodine. I also could not drink the Gatorade & I do not know why - call it an "other food intolerance". I did drink instant...
  16. You don't need a new dermatologist b/c they can't do anything an MD can't do for you at this point. As has been said, dermatitis herpetiformis (we just call it dh for short) IS celiac disease. This is also probably why you were negative on the blood work 2 years before the endoscopy as 60% of the time, those with dh test negative on the blood panel however...
  17. Keep this doc!!!! Fact: over 50% of all dx'd celiacs did NOT present with any GI issues at all. It isn't all about diarrhea. That's such a common misnomer - even the vast majority of docs think celiac is all about diarrhea. There are some 200 symptoms associated with celiac disease yet it seems almost the only one talked about is diarrhea. There is even such...
  18. I have thought this kind of thing also. Who knows? We may be correct. There is more info. here: http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/0816p14.shtml And this is very good to watch NO, NO, NO! Ditch the oats!!!!! Many of us with dh can not tolerate even purity protocol grown oats. My advice would be to steer clear...
  19. Yes, both your DGP tests are positive. Sure am glad they did the DGP tests on you b/c your TTG test shows a negative. Next step is an endoscopic biopsy. Keep eating gluten (no matter what ANYONE says) until you've had the endoscopy. You don't have to eat a lot, you can just have a couple crackers or a slice of bread each day OR you can go for broke &...
  20. Google the Fasano Gluten Cross Contamination Elimination diet. I have been gluten-free for 6 years. My dh did not fully resolve until I went on the Fasano diet. The doc who told you a dh biopsy would be valid is full of baloney. At the very worst, you are super gluten light & that won't get it for a dh biopsy. The gluten challenge for a dh biopsy...
  21. No. The eat gluten rules apply to the dh biopsy the same as to the celiac blood panel. If you're gluten free, you're sunk.
  22. I agree. I would also wait & then do a gluten challenge later.
  23. Right. But I would make one change in that scenario. After the 6 months strict, then instead of going to Chipotle or Culver's, just eat a piece of bread or a cookie or something gluten at home. If you have celiac you'll be glad you were at home when you ate gluten rather than out in the world somewhere. You see, almost without fail, once a celiac has gone...
  24. You are thinking on your toes! Absolutely correct! Repeat blood work & if the #'s are down & D is up & anemia is not in question or at least the D & anemia chance have improved PLUS you're feeling somewhat better...... Now, I will say that if the tTg is down but not normal it still is going down. sometimes it takes a year or even more to reach...
  25. No one can answer your question with such precision but I would say as long as the lesion has not begun to heal. Make sure the biopsy is done from a clear area adjacent to an active lesion.
