OK, so the way I'm reading that, & I am by no means an expert, is that he actually did take 6 biopsies but it doesn't specify which portions of the duodenum he took them from. They usually do so this is odd from the normal. Yes, I'm sorry, I did not address the positive blood at all. With non celiac gluten sensitivity (intolerance), you don't have...

Expect things to be a roller coaster for a while. You'll have good days & bad days, good weeks, & bad weeks. That's normal until you heal. Now I want to revisit something here. How many biopsies were done & from what areas? Do you have the report? That whole bit disturbs me. First that he says no damage in the duodenum indicates...

Environmental allergies causing total body pain?
squirmingitch replied to lacey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You can give dogs many of the antihistamines we humans take. I did try her on Benadryl & it did nothing for her -- didn't even make her drowsy. Just goes to show you, just like us, they have different reactions based upon the individual. I might as well give her a sugar pill as to give her a Benadryl. My girlfriend who has dogs 10 times the size of mine... -
Environmental allergies causing total body pain?
squirmingitch replied to lacey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ohhhhhhh I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!! We just got finished with our miserable yellow/green gunky mess pollen abomination. My doggy has environmental allergies along with food allergies. For several years now I've had her on a dollop of yogurt every day & 3/4 of a 10mg Claritin. I shouldn't say anything lest the Gods punish me but so... -
I absolutely think you need to be tested for celiac. Yes, symptoms are there. Aren't they going to do a celiac serum panel before doing the endoscopy or at least alongside the endoscopy? You need to make sure you keep eating gluten every day until all testing is completed. That is of the utmost importance! Make sure the GI takes 4-6 preferably 6 endoscopic...

Environmental allergies causing total body pain?

Aw Gemini! I am glad the Zyrtec is working & hope it continues to work with the coming weather. Yes, antihistamines can become less effective with continual use. Good thinking to try something else. -
Yes, positive blood & positive results on a gluten free diet -- you got it! Here's the problem -- the GI only took ONE biopsy???!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! The small intestine, when flayed open & spread out, will cover a tennis court. 1 biopsy has such little chance of hitting the sweet spot where the damage is. There are supposed to be a minimum...

6 month post diagnosis!
squirmingitch replied to Maddiecl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hooray, hooray, hooray!!!! Isn't it great when you can actually see good results happening? You're doing a great job. Keep up the good work. Everything will come in time. -
Yes, it is as far as the endoscopy goes. Did she have positive blood work? There are lots worse diseases she could have. This is an adjustment in food & she doesn't have to get chemo or radiation or stick herself with needles every day or take pills every day. She's young & so should heal very quickly. Please be sure to read our Newbie ...

Trouble Coping with Celiac and Eating gluten-free
squirmingitch replied to xopinkpetals's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The answer to your problem is super simple. You are not now nor have you been gluten free. It's the personal family choice and you don't want to argue about that. So what are you asking for? Validation? -
I'm not sure you have to do paleo but that's up to you. I had to end up doing the Fasano gluten cross contamination elimination diet. AND I could not do the Boost shakes & stuff like that because of the carrageenan (iodine!). Also, for some reason, the Gatorade was a no go & rice was a no go BUT I did do instant coffee. A girl's gotta have something...

I don't think that's harsh at all. There are real concerns about cross contamination in the kitchens with these "gluten-free pizzas". Even Domino's has a warning. While the Gluten Free Crust is certified to be free of gluten, the pizzas made with the Gluten Free Crust use the same ingredients and utensils as all of our other pizzas. Read the...

I would say to both of you to nix the iodine for 2 weeks. Look up low iodine diet on thyca.org. The other thing is - and you 're not going to like this - BUT NOTHING labeled gluten free. Eat fresh fruits & veggies, & meat & dried beans you sort, wash & cook yourselves & later, the dairy can be added back in. NO EATING OUT!!!!! Nothing...

I need to ask you to clarify some things okay? When you were put on the Dapsone, did you start right out on 100mg day? When you went on the Dapsone, how long did it take before the rash resolved? Is this the first time since being on Dapsone that the rash has come back?

You might find yourself surprised at things you thought were just normal actually weren't. I think most of us have had at least a few of those. Did you know that over 50% of dx'd celiacs did not present with GI issues? GI issues are not the only symptoms of celiac although most people believe that & you will see it repeatedly unto death on the internet...

Blood test interpretation
squirmingitch replied to Engineer's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Why in the world are you discounting the positive tTG-IgG? That is positive. it only takes 1 positive to move to an endoscopic biopsy. The finding of tTG IgG antibodies may indicate a diagnosis of celiac disease, particularly in individuals who are IgA deficient. For individuals with moderately to strongly positive results, a diagnosis of celiac disease... -
Parallel rash on chest + belly button?
squirmingitch replied to moleface's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It's certainly possible. I know my rash has what I call it's "favorite places & patterns". It can be absolutely uncanny. Do you have copies of the positive test from 4 years ago? And what about the false negative one? Why do you tell doctors about the false negative one? Just don't mention it to them. -
I think you ought to get the dh biopsy done properly this time & get the serum panel. Those of us with dh test negative on the serum panel 60% of the time so do be sure to get the dh biopsy and keep eating gluten every single day until then otherwise you will most likely get a false negative.

In those photos I don't see this presenting bilaterally. I only see one shoulder but not the other, 1 hand but not the other, 1 elbow but not the other, etc.... You haven't told us how it acts, how it feels. We can not make any kind of determination from photos alone.

Please Help DH rash on genitals?
squirmingitch replied to MakkyZ's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I understand! IMHO, if she can do the biopsy that would be about the most perfect situation you could have. You're comfortable with her I think & that will make things much better for you all the way around. Another thing..... Scratching can easily destroy that pattern the lab will be looking for so pick a place you haven't scratched at.
