  1. I had a punch biopsy on my back once & I did not find it really painful. I did feel it & it felt like a pressure & a pinch but I don't recall even flinching. I know I didn't grit my teeth or grimace & I held perfectly still. Here's a link of how it's properly done: https://celiac.org/celiac-disease/understanding-celiac-disease-...
  2. Yeh, it looks like you just got the basic screening. Be aware, like raven said -- 60% of us with dh test negative on the blood work then there's the fact that you haven't been eating gluten every single day for 12 weeks soooooooo odds for you are slim. Could you ask for an endoscopy? The gluten challenge time on that is 2 weeks. OR can you get a dh biopsy...
  3. Oh you poor thing!!!! My heart goes out to you. It's obvious you have a problem with gluten. See if you can get tested right away -- you might just turn up positive but really, I think you've proven beyond any doubt that you should not be eating gluten at all. Those are not the celiac serum tests I'm sorry to say. This is the current full serum...
  4. Or eat only at places that are 100% gluten free.
  5. Welcome Mamadog! Feeneyja, First rash? Gosh, I think you could get 1,000 answers to that b/c we are all different & therefore react differently. My first rash, I did not know it was dh. I would get a teeny tiny blister or 2 on the back of my calf and then a day or 2 later, the same would happen on the other calf. Always they were like copies...
  6. Sure. There's no harm at all in doing it if you want to. I just wanted to make sure you understood as we get a lot of people on here who do not and they think if they have the genes then they have celiac.
  7. No, the genetic test does NOT confirm celiac. Approximately 1/3 of the population has the genes for celiac but only a tiny portion of those people will end up presenting with celiac disease. The only thing the genetic test is good for is ruling OUT the possibility of celiac disease and even then there are rare, rare cases of true celiacs who do not have those...
  8. The photos did not load, we can not view them. Where did they take the skin biopsies from? On a lesion or from a clear area adjacent to an active lesion? When you say you were tested for celiac? How? Blood? Which tests were done? There are 6 in the full panel. Do you have copies of the test results? You should.

  10. OK so you were gluten-free for 2 weeks & then went back to gluten & within a few days stopped the challenge & the doc tested? And still that DGP IgA result was over 100 with positive being >15? OY!!!! And wheat, badly & rye food allergy testing came up negative. Oh honey, all things considered, it looks like celiac is screaming at you....
  11. Careful on the gluten-free pastas when cooking because they cook a whole lot faster than gluten pasta does. You can overcook gluten-free pasta in a heartbeat! Everyone has given some great suggestions. We adore this spice cake mix & you can also turn it into a carrot cake http://www.namastefoods.com/products/cgi-bin/products.cgi?Function...
  12. Good, I'm glad I managed to explain that clearly this time. I knew what I meant before but I certainly didn't make it too clear otherwise -- totally hashed it!
  13. Oh you poor dear. Yes, I do understand. All of us have been there. It's like you were broken & you've been taken to the repair shop & you look good on the outside but they still have some work left to do on the inside; meanwhile your sitting at the starting gate revving your engine ready to put the pedal to the metal but they won't open the starting...
  14. I said you posted the range so we didn't have to ask you. Maybe I need to clarify. IF a person came on here & said they tested @ 19.8 & gave no other information then we would have no clue as to whether that was positive or negative. OK, maybe you're still asking if the 19.8 is considered low. It's not a matter of it being low as long...
  15. Can't really say for sure dear. You're supposed to be eating gluten everyday for the prior 12 weeks. The thing is, when you get into situations like this, is that when/if you turn up negative, the doctors tend to take that negative as gospel & refuse to re-test after you've been eating gluten for 12 weeks solid. I mean, I can guess & say that if you...
  16. The gold standard for diagnosis is positive blood work combined with positive endoscopic biopsy. Why the biopsy? Because the TtG IgA alone could possibly be indicative of some other AI disease going on such as Chron's. Therefore, in your case, it's best to do the endoscopy & find out if anything else is going on in there -- maybe several things are, maybe...
  17. It doesn't work that way. Different labs have different reference ranges so one can't judge anything by saying 19.8. That's why we always ask people to list the reference ranges from their paperwork which you did so we didn't have to ask you.
  18. Well, I say kudos to you for reading the ingredients & noticing those alien body parts. You too Ennis. And that folks, is why our life long motto is...... READ EVERY LABEL EVERY TIME Good going you 2 & thanks for posting!
  19. I just want to add too, that the first 6 months, sometimes even the first year, can be somewhat wonky with ups & downs & progress & seemingly backslides. This is, oddly enough, normal. Things don't often get a little bit better each & every day. Sometimes they get worse EVEN when you haven't gotten cross contaminated. Just hang in there hon...
  20. I am betting that you got a new customer service person who didn't really know the ropes yet. When stuff like that happens to me; I just call back later in the day or the next day & end up with some other person who has been working there longer. However, like cyclinglady, I'm boycotting Johnson & Johnson. I use Advil & have never had any...
  21. Moggy, please re-read my post that you are so upset about. I have re-posted it below. Please, This time, read the entire post and do not simply stop & get in a huff after you see the word "whining". If you read the entire post in context, it is clear that I was referring ONLY to the OP getting bent out of shape because she wanted others to be responsible...
  22. Moggy dear, the lentils!!!!!! The LENTILS!!!!!!! Beware the lentils!!!! IMHO don't EVER do lentils unless YOU PERSONALLY have carefully, carefully sorted & washed them & cooked them. Gluten Free Watchdog has been made aware of & tested so many lentils that were contaminated with wheat & these are dried lentils we're talking about. Personally...
  23. Yes. It could also be almost anything else. I'm sorry, but we can't tell you much of anything when you just post a photo or 2 & give no details at all. I mean, it also looks like you could have burned yourself or rubbed until blisters formed. We have no idea where on the body this is. Basically you've given zero information.
  24. Also, were you told that your hubby needs to be tested every 2 or 3 years in the absence of symptoms & immediately if symptoms present? Celiac disease is genetic and can present at any age. Now, if you wanted to get your hubby's genetics tested then you could possibly rule celiac out for him if he doesn't carry celiac genes. About 1/3 of the population...
