  1. And believe it or not, there are super simple, quick & easy gluten free goodies recipes like this one for brownies: https://lifemadesimplebakes.com/2014/07/rich-fudgy-flourless-brownies/2/ You can make creamy tomato soup in almost the same time you can open the can of Campbells & heat it. Campbells is a no-no as it has wheat in it...
  2. Not to mention it's FUN! And fun is good for the psyche. Aw heck, just invite me over & I'll play in the dirt with the little one too.
  3. Each lab has it's own values. There is no across the board standard. The lab report should have the range #'s.
  4. Foreignlady, I sincerely hope you will stay. We DO want to help. I hope you will read this & change your mind and decide to stay. This really IS the best site by far to receive support & advice. Now just bear with me please. For once, I am going to be the voice of reason & play the peacemaker. Believe me, I can be the fiery little b%$@# at times...
  5. This is an unfair statement. The panicked mom did NOT say she had any intention of keeping her a"little" bit sick by giving her crumbs on purpose. This mom is asking for our help & freely stating she is overwhelmed & trying to understand. she doesn't need to be slammed unfairly. She says she's feeling slightly insane. I can relate to that. I...
  6. You will need separate cutting board for the celiac daughter. These are great: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/flexible-cutting-mats-set-of-4/1062059503?skuId=62059503&mcid=PS_googlepla_nonbrand_cutlery_online&product_id=62059503&adtype=pla&product_channel=online&adpos=1o3&creative=224277053683&device=c&...
  7. Over 50% of diagnosed celiacs did NOT present with any GI issues. Fact. There actually are what is called "silent celiacs" who don't present with any symptoms at all & yet upon serum panels & endoscopic biopsy are absolutely proven to be celiac. Fact. Not common but it does happen. I urge you to get tested. I will repeat: DO NOT STOP...
  8. A gluten cracker or slice of bread per day should be enough to keep the antibodies active. If she said "not necessarily" then she has it wrong. I agree, find another derm to do the biopsy correctly. Take someone with you for the next one so they can watch. Seems like terms like to take biopsies on your back or other places where you, the patient, can not...
  9. No kids here but my hubby loves Udi's Whole Grain. It's one (which is truly rare) that you don't even have to toast first. I said no kids here but my hubby might as well be one for as picky as he is about foods.
  10. My husband eats them on a regular basis & has no problems.
  11. It's possible it's being misdiagnosed. The big question is..... had you been continually eating gluten up until the time the biopsies were taken? Also, were you scratching the places where the biopsies were taken from prior to the biopsies? I googled LSC & did not find anything that says it presents bilaterally. I did note that dh is listed...
  12. I will warn you that many, most, who do the gluten challenge for testing find their reactions to be so much more severe than they ever had prior to going gluten free. Some get so sick, they can not complete the challenge. An endoscopy requires a 2 week challenge as opposed to the 8-12 weeks for the celiac serum panel. I have had a couple friends...
  13. Your problem is that you have never been gluten free! Never! Gluten free means gluten free, not a little bit gluten free, not mostly gluten free, not a bit of breading or a bite of cookie here & there. So from diagnosis in 1995 until 2011, you were not gluten free at all. You just continued to eat gluten as if you had no dx of celiac disease. You...
  14. It wasn't enough! The doctor is wrong. Seen it a million times on here.
  15. Your numbers should not be going up at all. You are getting gluten somewhere. Do you eat out? Have you read the Newbie 101 at the top of the coping section? That will help you to ferret out how you may be getting glutened. Do you have a gluten free household or is it a shared household? Do you read ingredient labels?
  16. Ok tessa! Point taken and I will remember that too.
  17. My husband & I used to be beekeepers. It would be almost impossible for wheat protein to get into honey. The honey is inside the hive; it's not like it's laying out in the open in a plate or a bowl. Here's a hive.: https://www.mannlakeltd.com/10-frame-traditional-growing-apiary-kit-wood-frames-painted?gclid=CjwKCAiA4vbSBRBNEiwAMorER1htsezzCA5djegusWEGx...
  18. You're most welcome. Let us know how things go along okay? Also, you might want to start getting prepped for going gluten free. Start learning now so it isn't so overwhelming later. Here's a link to the Newbie 101:
  19. Yes! You did it! You hung in there through thick & thin. Great going CL.
  20. You're welcome. Actually there are 6 tests in the full panel but that is neither here nor there now that you've turned up positive on 2 of the 4 you were given. It only takes 1 positive to trigger moving to the endoscopic biopsy. I don't think I've ever seen anyone be positive on all the tests across the board. I'm not even sure that's possible but logic...
  21. You have 2 positives. Yes, it indicates celiac. The next step is an endoscopic biopsy. Be sure to keep eating gluten each & every day until the biopsy is over with.
  22. Yes, you absolutely can develop dh especially if you've gotten cc'd. However, dh almost always presents bilaterally. Since you said you have it only on the back of one knee; I tend to go with Karen's thought. At any rate, you should try to do much better about not getting cc'd. Buffets are ridiculous for celiacs to eat from! That's a cardinal NO-NO.
  23. Everyone is different. There is no ironclad time frame. Could be a few weeks, could be a few months, could be 2 years, could be 5 years.
  24. You're welcome! Just another example of heeding our mantra which is: READ EVERY LABEL EVERY TIME. You never know what surprise may be in store for you!
