  1. I hope you get answers too but I'm really glad to hear he's willing to redo in a few more weeks. It sure sounds like you got extremely lucky with a dermatologist who actually knows what the heck he's doing when it comes to dh.
  2. The recipes in this cookbook are astounding!!! Sooooooo delicious! You really won't believe how much they taste like their gluten counterparts. Start with the original one & then later you can buy vol. 2. Seriously, I don't know how they figured out how to make these breads, pastries, biscuits, cakes, & so forth feel & taste like gluten food but...
  3. Men are stubborn & don't know what's good for them especially when the wife tells them what's good for them. Ack! I told my hubs he had appendicitis but would he listen to me? HE blamed it on the turkey leg I had cooked & we BOTH ate. Ummmm, I was just fine so why was he so sick & in so much pain? He wasn't listening. 3 freaking days, 3 FREAKING...
  4. Kya, the prednisone really could throw false negatives. I think it's great that the derm seems to realize you need fresh bumps as well as that he is willing to take 1 biopsy as should be done adjacent to an active lesion for dh and 1 biopsy on a lesion. He's covering all contingencies. You need a fresh lesion for the dh biopsy and it doesn't have to be an...
  5. Here is a Hershey's gluten free list for Canada. You have to scroll down past the US list & then it has a list for Canada. https://www.thehersheycompany.com/en_us/products/dietary-needs.html This was from Halloween 2015, not sure why there isn't a 2017 list but you can check the 2015 list & it will give you a place to start. Pick out the...
  6. Thanks for the update! It's thrilling to hear she's gained 3 lbs already!!!!! HOORAY! I'm so happy you found a good Ped GI for her. That can make such a huge difference.
  7. Flu vaccines are gluten free.
  8. Go to the coping section & pinned at the top is the Newbie 101 which will tell you how to prevent cc. Sorry, that's all I have for tonight as it's been a long, long day for me & I am more than ready to turn in. I'll respond further tomorrow. I'm sooooooooo glad to hear you finally have an answer!!!!!
  9. Kirsty, do you have copies of the blood tests & biopsy reports? If not, get them. It's always a good idea to get copies of tests so you can refer to them later. If you have them or get them, you could post them here. It makes a difference whether you were given the full celiac panel and how many biopsies were taken from what portion of the small intestine...
  10. Keep eating the bread. Get your primary care doc to do a full celiac panel although I will mention that depending on your insurance, some require you to go to a GI to get the full panel. Here's the list: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP...
  11. Joseph, for the first 6 months at least, you might want to cook ALL fruits & veggies except maybe bananas & pears. Make it easier on your damaged gut to digest and allow it to heal faster. Also, home made bone broth is amazingly nutritious as well as healing. https://blog.paleohacks.com/bone-broth-recipe/#
  12. You'll get to the point where you can eat other things, you just have to give it time. Can you do eggs? Hard boiled eggs. They make fast snacks and are highly portable. If you make nut butters, you can just eat it by the spoonful. I don't like "normal" coconut macaroons, too wet for me, ick! I found this recipe though which drives me insane --- sooooooo...
  13. I see banana pudding in your future! ENJOY! I'm glad you came back to report what happened with the cookies.
  14. Hey Josh! Corn is hard to digest even when one has a perfect gut. Imagine a damaged gut trying to cope with corn. Ditch the corn for a while. As far as soy goes, many of us, especially in the first 6 months to a year, have problems with soy. Some have problems with soy for years & years & others are able to have soy after their guts heal up....
  15. You might have to try cooking ALL fruits & veggies to death to make it super easy for your gut to handle them without putting undue stress on your body. Another thought is ditch every single processed food. Eat everything fresh that you cook yourself. No frozen foods, no canned foods. You can do dried beans but be sure to sort & wash them carefully...
  16. Nuts.com is a trusted company. You can be confident with them.
  17. WOW!!!!! I never knew about these things. Once Advil came on the market & I tried it, I hardly ever used Tylenol again. I always figured the Tylenol was just hard on my stomach. Thanks for this info!
  18. I have always preferred Advil over Tylenol. Tylenol works for me on most things but I find it isn't as effective as Advil is and Advil seems to cover the entire spectrum of ailments one takes an NSAID for. Tylenol has always tended to upset my tummy also. Seems I can take a few & be fine but any more than that in a day or a week & my tummy starts...
  19. I seriously can't imagine any nail polish containing gluten.
  20. That the symptom of celiac is that you sit on the toilet all day every day and there are no other symptoms of celiac disease.
  21. Have you tried antihistamines?
  22. Woo Hoo! I did not know about this Plumbago and when I read this portion of your post, I Googled. Viola'! https://www.supertracker.usda.gov
  23. You must be talking about winter squash. They are very hard! There's a trick though that you can use so they aren't so difficult & dangerous to cut. Nuke it for 2 minutes. Then it will be soooooooo much easier to cut with your kitchen knives. It works like a charm!
