  1. It doesn't sound like dermatitis herpetiformis.
  2. Thanks for updating us. Yay for the referral to the pet GI that the celiac society suggested! Please continue to keep us updated.
  3. If you are going to doubt your diagnosis then I would certainly push for the doc ordering the entire celiac blood panel --- your insurance may require that to be ordered by a GI -- just depends on your particular insurance. After that, if you still are doubtful, then go to a GI & push for an endoscopic biopsy. You MUST continue eating gluten every day...
  4. Yes! I hate lip balms that taste like anything. I want it to be tasteless. I use Blistex Simple & Sensitive http://www.blistex.com/products/simple-and-sensitive/
  5. These two are absolutely positive. These are more commonly referred to as DGP IGA and DGP IGG. The nurse doesn't know what she's talking about. Everything does NOT look okay! Get to a GI & get an endoscopic biopsy for celiac disease, keep eating gluten until all testing is complete.
  6. If the derm says it's scabies, then make the derm PROVE it by doing a skin scraping!!!! If the derm says they can tell by looking then MAKE them PROVE it. If the derm says it's not dh then MAKE them PROVE it by doing a dh biopsy which is taken on CLEAR skin ADJACENT to an ACTIVE lesion. If they take it ON a lesion that is NOT a dh biopsy. Remember, the derm...
  7. PammyAnne, I bet you asked her if Benadryl was gluten free. So she said no because it's a cya statement. Since they don't test it, they cover their rear by saying no. Their lawyers tell companies to do that. Like Karen said, just because it doesn't say gluten free on it, doesn't mean it contains wheat, barley or rye. You would have done better to have asked...
  8. So you see Michelle, there is absolutely no reason for you to have to go through an endoscopy. BTW, unless you post the reference ranges for your blood tests, we can't tell what's going on with them. All labs are different so they have different reference ranges. And THANK YOU for helping the people of Puerto Rico recover!!!!!!! Ask...
  9. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/can-a-skin-biopsy-for-dermatitis-herpetiformis-dh-confirm-celiac-disease-or-is-an-endoscopy-still-needed/ Frequently Asked Questions Q Can a skin biopsy for dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) confirm celiac disease or is an endoscopy still needed? A skin biopsy should be done on a non-affected portion...
  10. Expanding on TexasJen's thoughts about posting for new roommate(s) next summer...... people with peanut, tree nut or other food allergies, especially if they are anaphylactic to those foods, could make excellent roommates as they have their own problems with food so they can immediately identify with AND respect your need to not get cross contaminated.
  11. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy test. There could be a wheat allergy test but nothing such as a gluten allergy test -- at least not from reputable medical testing. There IS a celiac blood panel but that in no way is a gluten allergy. Celiac disease is not an ALLERGY to gluten; it is an autoimmune disease, an autoimmune reaction to gluten NOT an...
  12. This is exactly what I'm wondering also.
  13. A smart woman, our cycling lady is! I would heed her advice.
  14. Just saying her TTg was 0 & her IgA was 27 doesn't tell us anything. Every lab can have different values so we need the reference ranges not just the results. Can you look back at the lab report & get those & post them please? Did they tell you she MUST be eating gluten every single day until all testing is done? Don't make a fatal mistake...
  15. When the doc did the endoscopy, did he take biopsies? How many? From what locations? Get your records!!!! If he didn't take biopsies for celiac disease then he can NOT say you don't have it. 99% of the time, villi damage can not be SEEN by the GI doc during the endoscopy. And yes, the doc has no clue when saying it doesn't matter that you were gluten free...
  16. A few more thoughts. I also join others in saying ditch anything with oats for at least a while, even if they are certified. For hot breakfasts, have quinoa or buckwheat instead.
  17. You've had great suggestions from everyone! Okay, some random thoughts from me. 3 roommates.....wow!.....almost a guarantee of something going wrong daily. They can't be using loose gluten flour, not to make cakes or gravy or anything. Flour hangs in the air for hours to days. What you breathe goes down your throat & it's hello tummy after that. ...
  18. Panthenol is the alcohol form of pantothenic acid (more familiarly known as Vitamin B5). Yes, it's gluten free. You don't get B-5 from wheat, barley or rye.
  19. I agree! This pity party has lasted way too long! It's sink or swim buddy boy. No one can save you except YOU. Just like with alcoholics......and drug addicts...... no one else can save you, you have to WANT to save YOURSELF. Only then will anyone be able to help but that doesn't mean you can give up & go back to your self pitying ways. With...
  20. Here are some links for you. You can eat foods that are whole foods you know. Just look at the ingredients list & make sure it does not contain wheat, barley, rye or malt. http://cflcc.org/alleviate-hunger/ https://www.foodpantries.org/ci/fl-lakeland http://www.suntopia.org/lakeland/fl/food_pantries.php
  21. Hey greenbeanie! Sorry it's taken so long to get any reply. I am in FL & hurricane Irma happened you know. NO damage here thank goodness but we did have power outage and then the internet went down & didn't come back up until today. Weird, weird, weird! First, no, I haven't suspected antihistamines make my rash worsen. However, the only...
  22. Just take a soapy toothbrush to the part where the knife handle meets the stainless of the knives. Put them in the dishwasher & go on with your life. I mean, when you think about it, who sucks on the part where the handle meets the stainless? Gluten doesn't crawl. Thank goodness!!!!!! Wash the dish towels a few times & carry on & be happy...
  23. Those with dh tend not to have as severe GI symptoms or no GI symptoms at all as opposed to celiacs who do not have dh. Make SURE they take the dh biopsy form a CLEAR area ADJACENT to an active lesion. Anything else is not a dh biopsy.
  24. Our store has only ever had the chocolate glazed & the vanilla glazed. I bet the cinnamon sugar ones are killer delicious!
