  1. Did you say donuts? We found this to be delicious! https://www.kinnikinnick.com/glutenfree/shop/action/shop/category/donuts-breakfast-items/productcategoryid/6/languageid/1
  2. Ideally you should be eating gluten for 12 weeks just like anyone getting the celiac blood panel who has gone gluten free prior to testing.
  3. I've used this Vaseline lotion for years, both pre dx & post dx. Gluten free. http://www.vaseline.us/product/intensive-care/lotions/advanced-repair-unscented-lotion.html For lips I use Blistex Simple & Sensitive http://www.blistex.com/products/simple-and-sensitive/ I get very dry skin & lips too & these two products work...
  4. If you're worried about meats spoiling do this. Freeze them & put them in his pack frozen. By the time he gets around to eating them, they will have thawed.
  5. Glutino makes some great crackers. http://shop.glutino.com/Crackers/c/Glutino@Crackers?utm_campaign=sitelinks&gclid=Cj0KCQjw557NBRC9ARIsAHJvVVMoSP1KkYCwcl5jt-f0cc-zoiZkxBiqmdNQKBP2ztPjqPidN0lLpicaAmTjEALw_wcB He can use those & top with any number of items. He'd probably like PB or any of the nut butters OR Nutella on them. You can send...
  6. Hang in there! My hubs has major anxiety about things like colonoscopies & last year when he had his, the anesthesiologist gave him some "extra" prior to getting knocked out. It helped him a TON.
  7. Amy, a week + of gluten free living CAN affect your endoscopy!!!!! You can believe us & medical literature/studies or you can go down the rabbit hole so many before you have done & end up with false negatives. Sorry but you NEED to know the truth. It's your decision. As far as no symptoms go, you may not get GI symptoms after eating gluten but...
  8. I agree, that was a very generous & thoughtful offer Ennis made. Hats off to you Ennis!
  9. As a Floridian, I know all too well what it's like under the guns of 'canes. Everyone be smart & stay safe. No walking through water as there may be power lines down. And then again, there can be lots of other things lurking in those flooded areas. Positive thoughts with all those affected by the storm. The final effects have yet to be felt and...
  10. Please read this and add your voice to help stop labeling violations. https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/help-stop-labeling-violations-under-the-gluten-free-rule/
  11. I am RH negative. I found only one actual medical article/study on a connection between AI diseases, health status and RH factor. Frankly, I am a bit leery of conclusions drawn from online surveys being used for medical studies. here's the link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4619848/ I will say that (cross fingers & at least...
  12. Those with dh test negative the celiac blood panel 60% of the time. IMO, the fastest way to get dx'd is to go straight to a derm who is well versed & has experience with dh & how to properly biopsy it. A dx of dh is a dx of celiac & no further testing is needed. As ravenwoodglass stated, you must continue to eat gluten until all testing is done...
  13. You're welcome. I only speak the truth. I admire anyone who learns a second language. In fact, if you had not told us English is not your native language, I don't think anyone would have guessed.
  14. There is nothing wrong with your English! You've been quite understandable.
  15. You said you had a biopsy. Do you mean one? The endoscopic biopsy for celiac is not just ONE biopsy but 6 biopsies are recommended. Again, do you have copies of the pathology report? What do they say & I don't mean.....negative.....I mean what do they say in the detailed portion. It should say how many biopsies were taken from which parts of the small...
  16. You have "white coat syndrome". It's a real thing & lots of people experience it. I'm so sorry. Let them know how stressed out you get. It would help if you made your written list and sat down with whoever is going to accompany you & discussed it a day or two before the appointment & let them make notes too.
  17. Please make sure you read the Newbie 101 so you can make sure he doesn't get cross contaminated. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ I agree with the others about just going for whole foods & use beans & rice for the carbs. Fresh fruits for the sweet snacks/treats.
  18. I totally get Celiac's Wifey's line of thinking & agree wholeheartedly! I would like to build upon what Celiac's Wifey said but I'm not going to repeat what she said; I'm going in a different direction. I think that the particular source of gluten also plays a part in our physical reactions. I think there are subsets of celiacs if you will....
  19. As has already been stated, the doctor can't tell by a visual. They can in very rare cases when the damage is so complete as to result in total villous atrophy but it's certainly not the norm. The pathology on the biopsies will tell the tale. I hope he took the recommended 6 biopsies. Get a copy of the pathology report when it comes in.
  20. Hey, everyone is different, so if eating it before bed interferes with your sleep too much, then you might want to eat it during the day. Do whatever helps you get through it easiest. It's a great idea for your mom to get tested!
  21. OH honey, you don't have to eat 4 slices of bread per day for 3 months. That is overkill! 1/2 slice of bread per day will do. See: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/what-is-a-gluten-challenge/ Many find it helpful to eat that just before bed so that the worst effects (hopefully) take place while you're sleeping. If you or any of your kids...
