  1. Non alcoholic liver disease is associated with celiac disease. My liver numbers were elevated in the year or two before diagnosis and I was dx'd with fatty liver (non alcoholic). After I went gluten free, my numbers came right back down to normal. I also had microscopic blood in my urine & had all kinds of tests & scans run for that until the docs...
  2. jenna3, you are going to feel human again!!! Do not stop eating gluten until all testing is done & over with. Have a gluten glutton fest. As soon as all testing is finished, then go strict gluten free. Read our newbie 101 in the link below. It will tell you how to keep yourself safe. You'll need to get some new kitchen items and do a lot of cleaning...
  3. You might want to be aware of higher iodine foods as well. For instance, noting if seafood makes the rash worse --- also carrageenan aka sea kelp aka sea weed & all the other names it goes by. Foods from the sea are very high in iodine. Iodine often makes the rash flare.
  4. You're so welcome! Honestly, this rash can truly make you think you're losing your mind. Yes, it can take years. It can take a LOT of years --- longer than 2, OR it can take only months. We can only speculate it has to do with how long you actually had celiac but didn't know it & assume that the longer you had it, the antibodies were building up...
  5. DH is extremely sensitive to the tiniest little trace of cross contamination. It's imperative that you make sure you get a solid handle on those accidental weekend glutenings. You see, with dh, the antibodies deposit under the skin and they can lay there for long times. They can lay there dormant so to speak ~~ where you don't have an outbreak ~~ & then...
  6. I don't really buy into the cc business on the strawberries. I live in FL where we grow a lot of strawberries. Since I was a teen & I'm 60 now, I have done plenty of U-Pick strawberries at small growers & have seen countless large commercial acreage plantings & all were on plastic. The only times in my life that I have seen strawberries growing...
  7. Thanks, will take a look at it. I'm not sure but it seemed I was having some problems when I was eating fresh strawberries. We had some great fresh ones in our stores & fantastic prices too. I adore strawberries, I mean I'm bonkers over them, especially fresh but it ended up with them on my "possibly a problem" list so I quit them. Haven't re-tested yet...
  8. @Ennis_TX Can you please provide links to info. on cc of strawberries please?
  9. Rather than fabric gloves which can be awkward, how about using the nitrile gloves like doctor & dentist offices do? I understand you're trying to break him of the touching/pulling at his lips. How about giving him something to replace that habit with? A squeeze ball he can hold in one hand & squeeze. A marble he rolls around in his hand? I...
  10. Was your dh biopsy done correctly? IE: Taken from a CLEAR area ADJACENT to an active lesion NOT ON a lesion. NO, I have not found anything that camoflauges dh until the places begin to fade & then of course makeup can help it to be less noticeable. I have not tried tanning beds, spray tans or tanning creams. Thankfully my dh has not hit my face too...
  11. Okay then, you're good to go for a biopsy. Sorry I misunderstood & thought you were off gluten now. Make sure the biopsy is taken correctly from clear skin adjacent to an active lesion. Warning ~~~~ scratching easily destroys the patterning the pathology will be looking for. 60% of us with dh test negative on the blood work so a dh biopsy is the...
  12. If you have an outbreak & have it biopsied for dh, it will turn up negative. Sorry. Just like for the blood tests & the endoscopy, you MUST have been eating gluten. So you would have to do a gluten challenge.
  13. Even if they don't have payment plans, ask them if they will work on a sliding scale.
  14. Can you find an endodontist who will take payments?
  15. Sometimes I am like a terrier. LOL! Razzle, aren't you on Dapsone? I see you were or are and the last I can find is that you were up to 100mg per day. I have read you can go up to 300mg. per day. Perhaps they should up your dosage? We had one gal on here who had been dx'd with dh 20 years prior & had been taking Dapsone for 20 years while continuing...
  16. Allrighty then, let's do a little detective work here. Firstly, if you dig into the references listed for the link cyclinglady posted - this one: https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/001480.htm You will find they have all been picked up from earlier articles/publishings of studies. For example, let's follow the trail of the second reference listed...
  17. I've had dh on my face. DH can present anywhere on the entire body. They're wrong. If you have DH, you are celiac. I have to agree with Ravenwoodglass in that they must mean you can have dh without having the GI issues. You've been gluten-free for how long now? Villi does heal so an endoscopy is not going to show damage after you've gone gluten...
  18. Shortly after dx I went to a local Chinese place. The owner was there. I sat down & talked with her at great length explaining the food issue & cross contamination. She said there was only 1 thing she would allow me to eat there & that was steamed chicken & veggies. No sprouts were to be in the recipe, not b/c she thought the sprouts would...
  19. Great to hear you've turned the corner!!!
  20. Do you guys have OreIda up there? Here in the US they are gluten-free.
  21. I've heard of this happening numerous times on this board. Okay, even if the steroid was working, steroids have a habit of giving you a hell of a lash back once you quit them. A strong prescription strength topical steroid can help some and it won't give the lash back. Take him low iodine for a week or two. Iodine exacerbates the rash. Here's a guide...
  22. I was so entertained by your story that you made a yucky happening seem like a fun adventure. I'm sorry this has happened to you. It drives me batty when that happens! BTW, I get old friend eye twitch too. I really hate that guy. Can anyone be so annoying?
  23. Thank you SO much for coming back to tell us the end story. This will help so many people in future. I am unbelievably happy that your doc re-looked at the gene testing results and saw the discrepancy, questioning what exactly went on with it. It would help if you would post the docs contact info in the Doctors section of our forum. You never know when...
  24. Thanks, I did do some checking. Although I didn't find any wheat flour references, I did see the others and the use for pollen subs. I don't do facebook but I believe you when you say there are some beekeepers mixing up their own pollen cakes using wheat flour. This really could be a problem. One has to ask themselves how much is getting spread around the...
