  1. Could you please give a link to that information DebNC84? What kind of supplements? For what purpose? My husband & I were beekeepers and never were the bees given any supplements other than sugar water to tide them over during lean times. The only other thing they were given to eat were antibiotics if needed and those were administered by mixing...
  2. Dear egs1707, Please read this with an open mind. My intent, truly, is to try to help you. Until now, I have pretty much stayed out of the fray here on this thread although I admit to having been tempted many, many times to say my 2 cents worth. I will preface my remarks by admitting that I am not good at diplomacy. I tend to be blunt but please...
  3. Exactly! One has to find this out for oneself. Like cyclinglady says.... it could be either.....or even both. I found out I am extremely sensitive to ANY trace gluten. No certified gluten free foods for me even those that don't contain any other "additives". I am presently on the Fasano gluten contamination elimination diet which is very limiting. Only...
  4. 99% positive that at your age ALL the damage is reversible. I won't say 100% positive b/c well, frankly, nothing in life is 100% right? Cyclinglady had Marsh stage 3b & she's a lot older than you. 55 now I think, right cycling? She's doing great!
  5. razzle5150, I concur wholeheartedly with what both ravenwoodglass and kareng said. They are absolutely correct! DH does not occur if you are not celiac.
  6. 60% of those with dh test negative on the celiac blood panel. I know that in Canada, it seems the PC docs are only allowed to do the basic screening which is just 2 of the 6 in the complete panel. This is why I worry for you. I think the GI's are able to do the full panel BUT with your not having been consistently eating gluten for the past 12 weeks, coupled...
  7. stephm, I read your reply on another thread where you mentioned going off gluten & then back on gluten & off again? The fastest way to a dx if one has dh is a skin biopsy. A dx of dh is a dx of celiac, no further testing needed BUT the derm has to know what they're doing! The biopsy MUST be taken on a clear area adjacent to an active lesion NOT on...
  8. I have NEVER said that I believe celiac is actually a "Neurological disease" and I NEVER said I had "psychosomatic reactions". I did say that I considered the possibility that I was having psychosomatic reactions and many of us have reported neurologic aspects. If this is an example of what you read into things & twist things around then why in the...
  9. Posterboy, Let me make myself perfectly clear. I don't give one fig what you think about taking Niacinimide for itch relief of dh. I will not explain to you exactly what strength's, brands, flushing or non flushing kind, or how many times per day that I took Niacinimide when I tried it early on. You did not read my posts; you skimmed my posts. Then...
  10. No Posterboy. I did not use Niacinamide. Read my post again. And you keep posting this same thing over & over & over again. I know you're only trying to help people but Niacinamide is not the answer for everyone & it's not a cure all for everyone & everything. FYI, early on I did take it in hopes of helping or resolving my rash or the...
  11. Thanks Eastie! My rash is dermatitis herpetiformis aka the celiac rash. Celiac that manifests in the skin so to speak. The antibodies get deposited under the skin.
  12. This is the full, current celiac serum panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Also can be termed this way: Endomysial Antibody IgA Tissue Transglutaminase IgA GLIADIN IgG GLIADIN...
  13. I wanted to update this thread. I did find that for me, the doxycycline eventually made me so nauseous that it was awful. I cut back to 1 twice a day and still found myself unbearably nauseous 24 hrs. a day. I quit taking them even though the rash was still flaring. BUT it had ramped down greatly and I am so grateful I had the doxy during the worst.
  14. Jackie, we need a little more information please. Were those the only 2 tests done on you? The 2 tests you posted are negative but that is not the full celiac panel.
  15. egs1707. Are you in Canada? It's NOT a good idea to go gluten free between now & the GI appt. and here's why.... MOST of us have MUCH stronger reactions to gluten when we go back on it for the endoscopy. A lot of people have had such strong reactions that they have been entirely unable to complete the challenge and have to call it quits...
  16. Don't freak out worrying about other maladies yet. You would be absolutely amazed at the things that can/will resolve on the gluten free diet. Some take longer than others -- neurological seem to take the longest for most people but really, I guarantee, there will be things you had no idea or expectation of resolving will. There were tons for me and then...
  17. Hey there! Welcome to the club you never wanted to be a part of. Boy, you are certainly throwing yourself one heck of a bang up pity party aren't you? PLEASE do not take that as a put down! I don't think there is a single solitary one of us who hasn't thrown ourselves at least 1 pity party. I know I've thrown at least 3. Oh, & crying meltdowns in the...
  18. I know that Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce in the US is gluten free, I also know that in Canada it is NOT. This is a very reliable site: http://www.glutenfreedietitian.com/vinegar/ But it is in the US. I'm agast that the Irish Celiac Society says malt vinegar is gluten free. I wouldn't use it. No sense taking any chance at all...
  19. You're supposed to keep eating gluten until the endoscopy is done & you have the diagnosis.
  20. Absolutely chicken or turkey will work for bone broth. Also fish -- the big boned ones like mackrel - throw in the head too. Personally I hate fish but if you don't then you're set! I think you're on the right track now. Just take a deep breath, calm down, take a step back & you'll feel a whole lot different.
  21. Here's a link for celiac savvy dietitians. I hope you can find one from this list near you. http://www.glutenfreedietitian.com/dietitians-specializing-in-celiac-disease/
  22. One thing I would suggest is bone broth. It looks like it's allowed on a GP diet. Very nourishing and helps heal the gut! There are a ton of recipes on the internet but basically you boil bones with some vinegar (just a little) for 24 hours or use a crock pot. Sweet potatoes are allowed on both Fodmap & GP diets. VERY good food there! It looks like...
  23. I have been meaning to write up my journey of discovery process but just haven't had the time. I still intend to and when i do I will post a link back to this thread. To make a very lengthy, complicated story into a very short synopsis; I have discovered I am an ultra super sensitive as well as the same for oats, even purity protocol grown oats or oat...
