1. Yes, moneek. The dh photo bank is pretty much so that people coming on the site can go directly to it to see photos of dh in it's many, & varied presentations. It was not intended for a discussion thread other than a short comment here or there. New people wanting to look at or compare photos would have to wade through a whole bunch of discussion in order...
2. Welcome to the board moneek! And to the club none of us ever wanted to be members of. Tealiemonster is new here too. If you read the threads she has posted on then it will help you to learn. I am so sorry to hear you lost your home to Sandy. I come from hurricane territory myself having lived most of my life in southeastern coastal Fl. so i know full...
3. This is the thread ampmomof3 spoke about. I will reply there since the bulk of the information is there.
4. FWIW I have only eaten out once since going gluten-free & that was before my hubs found out he had it TOO. We went to Chinese & I brought my own food, a sandwich, I ordered wine & an iced tea to drink with my sandwich. They had no problem with it & I told them in advance what I was going to do. To me, it's just not worth taking the risk. It...
5. Oh you poor, poor thing!!!!! You've got it BAD don't you? Well, I don't know really anything about the dosing of Dapsone but I would say maybe you need to talk to your doc about upping the dosage. Now, upping the dosage will not make the places heal any faster. This stuff takes it's own sweet time healing & it is vexing in the extreme. So Dapsone will...
6. You ever get the feeling that most of the doctors out there went to the Frank Burns School of Medicine?
7. Yup, between the blisters, the photos & the itching; I say it looks like dh. I hope after gluten-free they almost never or never come back for you but just remember they can. And dh is very, very sensitive to the tiniest amount of gluten. So don't take any chances. Play it really safe otherwise it may go gangbusters on you.
8. Looks a lot like dh to me. I don't believe psoriasis blisters. Does yours burn or sting? Tail bone is a classic place for dh to present. You might be lucky so far in that it doesn't drive you nuts itching ---- yet. How long do the lesions usually last before they heal? Oh, gee, I see now you are dx'd celiac ---- in that case you have dh. You've been gluten...
9. I was thinking about doing the iodine patch test in the beginning but I did a lot of research on it & mostly IMHO, I think it's up for grabs or a lot of hooey. I don't know. You COULD go low iodine. Here's a link: http://www.thyca.org/rai.htm#diet If things don't start clearing up in a week or less & certainly if no improvement is seen in ...
10. My rash & my husbands are improving gluten free. But one has to remember it's not always an overnight thing with dh as the IgA can take 2 years (some med. papers say up to 10 years) to work it's way out of our skin. As to the Dapsone; many of us will not take it, it's some scary stuff, & some of us such as myself can't take it as it's in the sulfa...
11. I never took photos of it at it's worst before I went gluten-free except those few on my neck. I could not stand to look at myself. I certainly couldn't see why I would want photos of the horror hanging around. Now I wish I had. Might be good proof to a derm one day. Hindsight 20/20. I certainly hope your never comes back again! NEVER!
12. These first 4 are from Sept. 2011 when I was on the verge of discovering this was dh. This 1 shows the clear amber fluid. The blisters were coming up so fast & bursting all by themselves. The following ones are after 6 months gluten free & several months low salicylate & not a lot of iodine but I had been doing so well that I couldn...
13. It could very well be dh. It looks like what dh looks like at some stages for lots of people. Your ethnicity doesn't matter. The stats on the ethnicity are based upon DIAGNOSED celiacs. And we all know that doesn't give the true "big" picture. Not even for those of northern European heritage. We've had numerous African Americans on here who were told by...
14. This is why you can't find the fast melts. http://www.benadryl.com/recall_nov152010 I was just looking for them on drugstore.com & it says the manufacturer is out of stock. so I went looking for the reason & found the recall info. I have tried the liquid but something about...
15. I am getting the records from doc 1. Just to put him to the trouble of doing it. Let's just say that "I have taken care of the problem". But the fact remains that it happened in the first place & there are lots of patients out there getting caught in this crossfire & I'm sure many of them don't know how to fix it.
16. This might be more appropriately termed Stupid stuff doctors do & stupider stuff pharmacies do. This is a long, complicated story which I'm going to try & make as short & sweet as possible. The players: doc 1, doc2, NP (nurse practioner) Mu hubs is hypothyroid & takes levothyroxine. We moved & had to find a new doc. We took...
17. Celiacs can have or develop reactions/sensitivities/allergies to anything at any time. It's more than possible it was the sorghum & quite likely. So now you know to avoid it. I recently discovered the same thing with Quinoa for myself. I felt like I had been glutened & my dh rash flared. I know there was no cc. I quit the Quinoa & cleared right...
18. The last time I read the amt. of time you had to voice your symptoms to your doc it said just under a full minute. So ever after that I made sure I was talking fast. Know what happened? Doc offered me anxiety meds & anti depressants. You can't win for losing.
19. My father is peeing blood. So mom takes him to the ER. A doc examines him (sort of) but no X-Rays, no ultrasound -- nothing. The doc tells him they don't know what's wrong with him but they want him to come back the next day for X-Rays of the lungs.
20. Thank you Jean but the whole point was the word "added" as to the msg. It states no msg ADDED. So they don't add any but never the less msg is in there. Please read psawyer's 2 posts righ near the top of this thread & you will understand what we're talking about.
21. Skylark, yes I read your posts seriously. I DO check products out myself before I eat them. I'm not just going to go flying out & buy something because someone mentions it. I am however, grateful when people do try to help & answer a question I have posed. I am also grateful for info. that people like you & Peter & Prickly & anyone else...
