  1. Ditto what cycling lady said.
  2. Yes, I have celiac, I have also recently been dx'd with rheumatoid arthritis & been prescribed methotrexate for the RA & since methotrexate depletes folate in your body then you have to take a folic acid supplement every day. I have not yet begun the methotrexate as you only take that once a week so I was waiting for the day to take that. Meanwhile...
  3. Thanks Gee-eeF, I haven't had any soy in years & I have done trial elimination of nightshades. So that leaves me with caffeine, dairy & sugar. With my serum results, there's no doubt it's RA & as much as I would like to think it can be controlled with diet; that's a fool's errand. You don't screw around with RA. The 1st 2 years are ultra...
  4. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a while longer just for good measure. I know it's scary when that kind of thing happens. Suddenly you're YIKES!!!!!!! Then you worry whether you're going to psyche yourself into a reaction -- real or not.
  5. Thanks for the feedback janpell. I don't do any processed food, no gluten of course, no grains of any kind, no nuts, only fresh fruits & veggies & meats -- not frozen, no cured meats. Right now, about the only fruit I can eat are peeled apples. I do drink milk & use sugar in iced tea & coffee. I am loath to cut milk as I need the calcium.
  6. Drink tons of water to flush your system and get lots of rest.
  7. Thanks cyclinglady! Yep, well, we know those old AI diseases like to cluster. I was pretty much bound to end up with something else. It can take up to 12 weeks for the RX to manage the disease but like I said, I am extremely lucky I caught this early so the debilitating effects can be mitigated. There are so many more options now than when your grandmother...
  8. An update. I am newly dx’d with RA. This dx has gone pretty quickly for me. I pretty much figured out I had RA when I googled my symptoms & then I went to my PCP & described my symptoms to him. He ran serum. Ha! It’s kinda funny b/c I am sero negative on celiac (the rash is the key there) but I’m sure not sero negative on RA. My RA Factor is 13...
  9. As to the bed, if you can get it outside & beat it like they used to beat rugs in the "olden" days, I think you will be fine since it was covered. It might help if you can get one of those upholstery cleaning companies to come in & clean all your upholstered furniture. The fact of the matter is, that drywall compound dust gets everywhere & I mean...
  10. I have dh too. YUP. I used a shop vac & put water in it to keep the dust down. We had to relocate our A/C return & the A/C man did great until his helper screwed up & hit shop vac switch to blow instead of suck. Freaking room was freaking covered in drywall & drywall mud dust!!! Thankfully, we had closed off the entries into that room...
  11. I get it. I think we all do because we've been there, done that to a lesser or greater extent. It's hard to speak out clearly & make absolute declarations. We worry about hurting people's feelings but at some point, all of us come around to the realization that we're worrying about the wrong thing when we should be worrying about protecting ourselves...
  12. I'm sorry you got glutened but this is a prime example of why you take your OWN food & do NOT rely on others to get food right for you. They do not know the rules & honestly, they are not responsible for keeping you safe. They may love you, family & friends mean well, but we shouldn't expect them to get everything right. It's hard enough for us...
  13. I am glad to hear you are improving although I know it really took "it" out of you. Rest, lots of water to flush your system. When you get the test results back, you need to get your doc to prescribe you an epi pen. Meanwhile, it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep a bottle of liquid Benadryl on hand. That stuff saved my life twice when I was a kid. I am anaphylactic...
  14. Yep, I came on hoping to see a post from the OP. Starting to get worried.
  15. Oh Billie, I'm so sorry for you! You absolutely sound like you're getting allergic reactions to something. I would check out Posterboy's links. I also suspect the eggs. Eggs are one of the top 8 allergens so one has to put the proper weight on that possibility. And here's a thought...... perhaps it's just the egg yolk??? Maybe. Could be. I do know someone...
  16. Hey BilliB, I have dh too & I did/do the Fasano diet. I did it strict for over a year, only I did not do rice as I already knew rice was out for me. I am still pretty much on the Fasano diet I guess you could say. I still do not eat anything processed excepting cheese & butter. I lost nuts too (except for almonds) but I am just starting to try them...
  17. Sorry, I missed answering your last question there. Keep eating gluten until the biopsy is done. Hang in there!
  18. BTW, you don't have to kill yourself with gluten. A bowl of pasta or a slice of bread or a couple of crackers each day is enough. You don't have to eat gluten at every meal. Remember, every time you eat gluten, those antibodies are being deposited under your skin. Once there, they are like little grenades just sitting until something triggers them to explode...
  19. https://celiac.org/about-celiac-disease/related-conditions/dermatitis-herpetiformis/ I would also print this out & bring it b/c the diagnostic criteria in regards to dh & celiac changed in 2012. Since then, all that is required is a positive dh biopsy -- no further testing is needed. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/can-a-skin-biopsy...
  20. I'm not sure. You may be stuck with only what you got & the other tests can only be ordered by a GI specialist. I do see something there in the second column under General Chemistry, in the fifth box down, it says IgA, IgG, IgM. I don't know if those are the same as what we are talking about -- I know the IgM would not be but not sure about the 2 preceding...
  21. Bone deep. The itching is bone deep & more. You could scratch through the skin, down through the flesh to the bone, scratch straight through the bone & continue through the flesh on the other side until you had a hole you could see through all the way through to the other side of whatever body part it was AND STILL IT...
  22. You know you have to eat gluten every day for 12 weeks for testing don't you? That is for either the celiac blood panel or the dh biopsy. 60% of those with dh test negative on the blood panel.
  23. Go to the Coping Section & read the Newbie 101 pinned at the top.
  24. How do we change our signature information? Mine is old & out of date & needs to be updated. Thanks
