I was just going to post the same question-I also wanted to know about raw nuts in general. They all seem to say "packaged in a facility that handles wheat, nuts, soy, etc" Does that mean they are not gluten free? Are there any brands of nuts that are safe?
I know for sure Planters nuts are gluten-free in Canada.

Does anyone buy from the bulk bins in grocery stores? I have no clue if those are gluten-free
-
I will have to look into it a bit more, all my GI said was I could claim. She didn't go into details.
-
I really thought some people would be doing this. Its a bit of work but I think well worth it.
-
Im in Edmonton. I called them and they said it is gluten free but they are made in a plant with wheat all around.
-
Yeah im feeling totaly fine right now, its just the beginning though. Im sure it will get a lot worse once im totally off gluten and take some in by accident.
-
Even though some food is totally gluten-free should I stay away if its made in the same place as other products with gluten in it?
No gluten products effect me since I just got off gluten. My GI said its probably because I built up a tolerance to it. Im sure it will get worse as time goes on since im off gluten all together now.

I would like to know how long you guys were having day to day problems before you started feeling better. I think it would be helpful to others too.
-
Yeah the GI I talked to yesterday said its probably nothing, she said to not even bother seeing a family doctor about it. I would like to deal with it though since its bothering me so much and I know it does mess teeth up when gums are so dry through the night. Dosent it?
Should I just go to a family doctor and ask to be checked for Sjogren's, or how do I go about this?

I just heard about this today from the GI. Does anyone in Canada do this?
-
I thought for sure some of my fellow Canadians would have an answer. Maybe I will give them a call.
-
Anyone know if these are gluten free?
-
I dont worry about it but I dont have any symptoms when im glutned. Some people have a lot of pain and sickness with the slightest amount and really pay attention to cross contamination.

Thanks for the detailed post Gemini. My eyes dont get dry at all. My mouth is fine during the day when I can get water in. I havent ate bread since I was diagnosed with Celiac a few weeks ago but I dont think I would have that much of a problem. I tried Biotene, didnt help at all. I will see what the GI has to say then maybe go in for testing to see whats up. I really dont mind all the doctors as much as you, I live pretty close so thats a good thing.

I didnt know that. I just figured they would check for everything when I went for my physical. Thanks beebs.

Well im going to talk to a GI on the 23rd so I will see what she has to say about it. I went through so many blood tests in the past few weeks. Im sure if it was anything serious they would have found it in the tests? Also my doc didnt say anything at all about my vitamin levels. Should I just assume there fine?

Im about to make my first batch of gluten-free cookies. I have everything but Xanthan Gum. I cant seem to find it in stores. Its called for it in the recipe but is it absolutely needed?
-
Last post was in 2007 dude, things might have change by now.
-
Yeah I never thought about using just pasta sauce. I guess Classico Tomato and Basil would come closest to actual pizza sauce?
-
I have really bad dry mouth. Is this a symptom of Celiac? Any ideas what I can do? I have been drinking a ton of water and got a humidifier in my room, tried a lot of different mouthwashes and chewed sugar free gum. Nothing is helping.

Looking for a good gluten-free pizza sauce in Canada. I know Ragu products are gluten free but I cant find their pizza sauce anywhere.

I have never had an issue with Lays - but I only have the plain kind. I live in Canada (not sure if that makes a difference?)
I have also never had any trouble with the Kettle brand chips - they are quite yummy. I was so happy to find that brand and realize that I could have flavoured chips again.
Im in canada too. I found this at the lays canadian section of the site. Updated October 17, 2011.

Sounds interesting. You could always check your browser history on your phone.

There are plain and even flavored ice cream bars out there that are gluten-free. Maybe you could change your ice cream bar addiction.
Could you name a few? I have no idea what ice creams are ok to eat.

Do you buy gummie bears and that kind off stuff from the bulk bins too? I miss eating that stuff.
