  1. Making a chicken stew in the crockpot.  Had a pound ? of chicken tenders - threw in the rest of the carrots, a few red skinned potatoes, a stalk of celery, some freeze dried poultry spices and garlic & a little instant tapioca to thicken any juices.  Might add peas at the end.  good clean out the fridge thing.

I saw someone else say this recently so I'm not the only one but I call those nights "chopped" nights. Check the fridge and throw whatever is in there in supper. It was actually watching lots of that show that made me more adventurous in the kitchen. I'm never afraid to try new things now and I'm not afraid to fail anymore. What's the worst case scenario? Ordering a pizza if it truly sucks? Oh the horror!

  2. Last night we had "Impossible Cheeseburger Pie" and a spinach and apple salad with pecans and a little lemony salad dressing I made.  You could add things like taco seasonings and serve with salsa but ...for some reason, we always like it just like it is.

If you make it with Italian sausage and a pizza cheese blend it's really good too. You can even add a little diced pepperoni or cut some up to add to it when you do that. I recommend adding a bit of Italian seasoning when you do this too. Don't ask how much, I just eyeball things around here.

  3. I'm feeling slightly better. I'm managing to get out of bed a little at least, but I think I'm sticking to soup still for the day. Unfortunately this means making myself semi-presentable and dragging myself to the store or waiting til my husband comes home tonight to go for me but I'd rather just get my own. I've just been buying soup because I guess I'm lazy, and my husband doesn't like any of the type of soup I like so that's why I wasn't sharing. :P (Remember, he may be a grown man but acts like a toddler who thinks they're allergic to everything called a vegetable.)

Awesome news today though. His department manager transferred out of his department to try other things, the more departments you have experience in, the more likely you are to get higher in the management ranks at Walmart. He interviewed for the department she ended up getting, but we're perfectly happy for him to have been turned down for that. He got the department he's been working in since he started!  ^_^ We're both thrilled and excited. The only daunting thing is that both previous managers for his department worked from 6 to whenever. Oh God.... he'll have to leave for work at 5:30 in the morning. That's the less than exciting part, we're going to have to turn our schedules upside down and neither of us have ever been morning people.

  4. I've been to Outback a few times over the last couple years and never had a problem. Of course, every location has the potential to be very different but hopefully you'll have a good experience. :)

I think tonight I'm going to finally get to that orange sauce I picked up last week at the Asian market. I'll make orange chicken tonight. Yay!!! There really is nothing quite like homemade, "breaded" nuggets of meat deep fried to perfection. We'll have some sort of rice and veggie with it of course. I think I still have half a bag of peas and carrots in the freezer and could make a nice fried rice for myself. mmmmmmm......

  5. People have been talking about how they want the summer Olympics here. I see some of those slideshows of the abandoned, awful places after the Olympics are over and how everything falls apart and nothing ever gets used again. That just didn't happen here so people are pretty eager to do the summer thing. Even though I wasn't here when Utah hosted the winter Olympics, I really hate the idea. The spillover of tourists and traffic will come all the way down to me I'm sure, and my husband uses the freeway to travel to work every day. I could skip the whole thing. Of course, I skip the whole snow thing too. :P

Besides all the normal geek stuff I did that I was (and still am) super excited about, I did some new things too. There is a local (to Utah) dance theater group called Odyssey Dance Theatre that does a show called Thriller every Halloween that I always mean to go to but forget to get tickets until they sell out. They did a shortened version of the show there on two days, which was incredible. It's part dance, part theater, and all awesome. The Salt Lake Pops Orchestra did an hour long show to end the night Friday night. It was entirely popular geek movie and TV show music. So besides just being a geek I got some culture too. ^_^

Tonight I'll make battered fish and probably tater tots. No matter how crappy I'm still feeling, cleaning up after three days has to be on my to-do list and so does sewing so I'll be working for at least part of my day and don't want to put to much effort into supper. I'm also just counting down til I get incredibly sick with what my husband is finally getting over. He loves to share. <_<

  6. shut.  UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  i officially hate you!!!!!    :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  that is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!  any venture brothers news??  omgosh my ringtone on my cell is the closing theme!!!!   lololz  i would love to see that video......... :D  :D

He says that he doesn't even really pay enough attention to know the storyline and his kids have to explain it to him when it airs. So no, sadly no news on it. :( Although... he wouldn't actually confirm rumors of a reboot of The Tick but he strongly hinted at it!!! :D :D :D That should have been the highlight of my weekend, it really should have been, to do that video and have his arm around me for a moment and it really was amazing, but John Barrowman sang to us. They panned the room during it and I think everyone was recording it, it took about 5 minutes for that video to hit youtube. I didn't take chances, I have it on my phone. ^_^ I'm more in love than ever.

  7. I hope your mom gets feeling better. It's always difficult to see the people we love not feeling their best. :(

I had an incredible three days. My husband got sick by the end of Thursday night so he only went with me one day, but we had a great time together and he got an awesome souvenir. I got to see an organizer have Bruce Campbell help him propose to his girlfriend, John Barrowman (gayest, most incredible hour of my life), Eve Myles, at one point in a random best of Dr. Who panel both doctors who were attending just walked in on us. OMG! And I got to actually not only meet Patrick Warburton but he did a short video for me to send to my husband since he wasn't able to attend, and he hugged me. Finished off my weekend with an incredible Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog singalong which is always an amazing experience to get 900 people in a room doing that. I'm exhausted, in shoot myself pain, and still on such I high that it could be hours before I'm able to collapse into sleep. I think I'll hold over until the April event just fine. And.... by head count according the the fire marshal (we're waiting for official notice) we're the #1 comic con in the country after this event. BOOM! Utah geeks rule, I love my state!

Dinner? I think I still have one microwave meal left but I need to settle down before I can eat. I'm just way too hyper for food now, but in a few hours I'll get hungry.

  8. Gonna make a pork tenderloin tonight. The cook it in its own bag type, no real cleanup and we'll have a bit of meat leftover for a few nights. We picked up some of those microwave "ramen" noodle meals for me for the next few nights so I'll have warm food before falling into bed. It'll be good to have meat to add to it. I am going to go fall off the planet into geek heaven for three days. I'll see you all on Sunday.

  9. If you donated enough, I hope you managed to get it donated to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients. (Sorry, but that topic hits rather close to home right now)

I did get it cut all the way up to my shoulders. It was quite a bit off, but not nearly enough to donate. Only about 4 or 5 inches. You have to have 10 inches cut off to donate it. I'd be bald if I cut that much off. Shoulder length is extremely short for me, and as short as I'm willing to ever go. It's layered and super adorable, I love it. I'm not having any of the cut lots off regrets like I sometimes do.

Well, other than finishing the jerky in the dehydrator and cutting up the cheese and separating it and the crackers and pepperoni out into baggies we're ready. Oh, and I still have to do my mani tomorrow but I didn't want to have a chance to chip it so I was waiting til the last minute. I was disappointed today when I stopped in the Asian market down in Provo and they didn't sell the pad Thai sauce I like, but they had an orange sauce in the same brand. The owner of the store recommended a different brand of pad Thai but when I explained that the reason I bought the one I did was because it was gluten-free she said she'd start carrying it again. :D I was worried I'd have to start making my own.

  10. I don't have anything against baked donuts, I think that since they're available in stores for us though that some of us just really miss what we think of as donuts. And I try not to lie to myself about baked goods, there's nothing healthy about them anyway so I just do whatever makes me happy and try to eat in moderation. My exception to that rule is donuts. My husband would probably like those donuts. Blueberries and oranges are two of his favorite things.

  11. I don't think any of us were interested in a baked donut. I know some people look for a healthy version of every treat, and that's great for people who are into that. But when I want a donut, I want a donut and I know that from the start there is nothing healthy about it so I want what I remember a donut being so I want to go all the way with it. The good ones are fried. I think a lot of us just plain old aren't fans of cake donuts. I like the Dunkin Donuts glazed style donuts. OMG now my mouth is watering from talking about it. I think it may be time to order another bag.

I'm making a couple chuck tender steaks for dinner tonight. I think I have beans ready in the garden again and I may check to see if any corn is ready. Some sort of veggie type object will sort itself out by supper. I need to run some errands, pick up prescriptions and go get a haircut today. I'm still debating how much I'll get cut off. I might go crazy and go all the way up to my shoulders, I'm feeling adventurous.

  12. It's been a super long time since we made any type of Asian food. I meant to on Saturday after the farmers market at the little Asian shop down that way for some Thai sauce but forgot to. The one up here in town doesn't sell the sauce we like. I have to go pick up some prescriptions tomorrow though so maybe I'll remember to stop in. I hate to make a trip all the way down there just for a little bottle of sauce, especially when I'm down there every week anyway. We both prefer pad Thai to stir fry. At least it's something a little less ordinary that I can actually get my husband to eat!

OMG I totally forgot. So last night we went shopping for some things for this weekend. I wanted to pick up some Gatorade. (I don't know what it is specifically, but something in it helps to prevent my muscle cramps and twitches when I'm more active.) We remembered we wanted fruit snacks while we were there and threw a huge box of them in the cart. Then on the way to checkout I saw a GINORMOUS bag of gummy worms. Three. Pounds. They were the same weight as the fruit snacks and 2 bucks cheaper. I haven't had them in years. All I have to do is divide them up into snack baggies. I'm so excited! I feel like a kid. ^_^ They're so much more fun to eat than fruit snacks. Yes, I'm 36 and I was so excited about gummy worms in the store that I was bouncing up and down like a toddler. Being a grown up is so overrated.

  13. Sounds perfectly delightful over there! ^_^ I'm enjoying our cooling off temps and a bit of an early fall here. It's still warm enough for capris and sundresses and all that, but not hot. It's perfect.

I'm just making some battered fish and idk what to go with it tonight. Something easy. Doesn't matter, had egg, bacon, cheese sandwiches on english muffins for breakfast with a large cup of chocolate milk. After that I'm not sure I could make anything easy that could compare.

I'm getting the jerky marinated today. We've decided on pepperoni, cheese and crackers and pretzels over sandwiches. At least I won't have to make bread. So now I can surprise him with his favorite oatmeal cookies tomorrow. :D
