  1. I grease the pan to make the cornmeal stick to it, then dust the pan with the cornmeal. Just enough to coat it. Maybe a little more generous if you're going to be spreading the crust the way gluten free ones usually are. Then slap the crust in/on whatever.
  2. GAH!!! Yer gonna boil her brain!
  3. Tonight we're having breakfast for dinner. Pancakes and sausage. I was thinking about waffles but I'm not sure I'm quite that ambitious, the waffle iron is behind about a million things in a cupboard. Edit: Nevermind, my husband wants pumpkin waffles. Now not only do I have to dig out my waffle iron but I have to actually put on "out of the house" clothes...
  4. If we didn't harass you, how would you know we love you?
  5. Someone, not naming any names or anything... but someone has a very serious internet addiction. Couldn't even make a whole week without sticking their nose in twice.
  6. I'm also a fan of cornmeal. My husband isn't the world's biggest fan, but I love the texture and flavor and how it makes a pizza just slide right off of anything. Tonight we're having polish sausages I found on sale. I think I may also find the ambition to make some kluski to go with them. Not something I've had since all the ethnic food festivals back...
  7. I'm pretty sure the only reason you don't have all of us flocking to your house is the fact that we would all freeze to death halfway there! Yesterday we grabbed a Costco chicken, and since it's just the two of us they make dinner for two days if we're responsible. (sometimes we're not ) So tonight we'll go for the other half of the chicken and some...
  8. If you want to try a nice fall waffle, pumpkin waffles are great. Hmmm... I think I'm adding pumpkin to my shopping list today and putting breakfast for dinner on my meal planner. I don't keep agave nectar around the house, so I just sub honey. When I don't have an ingredient like that I just google what to replace it with. And vanilla is vanilla, I don't...
  9. You gotta work on those ninja skills, you're not quite as sneaky as you think you are. Oh... omg!!! Went to a GIG meeting tonight. Blah blah blah medical stuff.... the Gluten Free Heaven girl was there and she brought poptarts she made with pie crust and jelly. O!M!G! So good. I didn't even ask what fat she used in the pie crust, which I know I'm not...
  10. I'm glad I'm not the only one! There are a lot of sounds that make me crazy, like fingernails on a chalkboard. Sometimes I feel like I the world is conspiring against my ears! I want one of the little flat ones to make ice cream sandwiches with. At the fair I grew up going to they used them and ice cream that comes in a box. Just slice off a square...
  11. Hey, if it grows and it's not an animal or grain, it's a vegetable! That's a rule around here. And that's the kind of waffle iron I have. It's a Bella brand one that I grabbed two years ago on a Black Friday sale for $10 or $15. I was so happy that my hours and hours and hours standing around in the below freezing temps paid off that night. Black Friday...
  12. Waffle irons are all a matter of preference. I personally have a Belgian one. It makes lovely waffles that are light, fluffy and airy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
  13. I wrote alfredo on my dinner planner. (I'm trying out ways to be responsible, not sure if I'm a fan.) I don't do alfredo for a variety of reasons, so I'm going to do plain old spaghetti. It's easy since I'll be cooking pasta anyway and tomatoes just don't do me in the way a huge hit of parmesan will. I'm about ready to crash for the day and it's only...
  14. You make "that's it" sound positively drool-worthy. We scored some bogo Malibu pre-seasoned chicken breasts at the store last night. Baked those with garlic taters. I also got some Udi's blueberry muffins on sale after I went out to vote today so that's dessert with a cup of milk.
  15. I am still seriously considering a cutting board at that price. Just... not for me. My Grammy's kitchen has always been blue everything and our family has always been quite proud of our name. So a blue monogrammed cutting board sounds like a splendid gift if I can check my Christmas budget and see what's what. I just honestly hadn't thought much about Christmas...
  16. That's a really cool idea, I just wish it wasn't glass. I have one glass cutting board I bought on the premise that it couldn't get CC'd and I can't stand the sound of cutting on it. It's beautiful though, and a great gift for people who like glass cutting boards, shared house or not.
  17. I always look at all those fancy safe for me sausages when I see them but they're like a bazillion dollars so I nearly always pass. It sounds awesome though, especially as a hoagie! People here think hoagies are weird. I just feel like making faces at them and telling them that I think subs are weird. I realized as I was getting ready for bed last night...
  18. Oh right, so I made chili last night and I didn't know how it would turn out because I've never made chili before. Apparently chili is idiot proof, and it was amazing. I think though the recipe didn't want enough beans, I wasn't thrilled with the meat:bean ration so I'll have more beans handy next time. I also don't seem to be having any ill effects at all...
  19. If you have literally never made a pie crust before, you should either get practice or go with a package instead of making your first one on a holiday. I'm not saying you'll fail but apparently I've been told it's a difficult thing to master. I wouldn't have a clue, having grown up in my Grammy's kitchen I could roll a pie crust by the time I was 5 and I...
  20. Hey, whether or not it was going down the hatch anyway a reasonably good excuse isn't a bad idea. I do things like that to justify some of my bad habits.
  21. You were gonna have a cupcake anyway.
  22. That would have to be one damn good cake! And happy birthday, I totally didn't even realize because I just skim past signatures that I've already read. Look at that, both your birthdays are the same month.
  23. If I could ever get my husband near a vegetable without him acting like he was going to die this would be the perfect solution to a two person Thanksgiving. There just are not a lot of good ways to cook just a breast without a turning into something horrid so we always end up with a whole stupid bird. Last night we had egg nog french toast with the baguettes...
  24. Dinner tonight had a loaf of fresh bread added to it. It was, admittedly, my very first not from a box (which I've only done once anyway) bread. And I'm very thrilled to say it is delicious. It made two baguettes, and one is half gone, devoured warm and dripping with butter. I totally ignored the recipe's flour ingredient list and simply went with my new...
