  1. Maybe I've never met the right cats. Maybe I'm really just not a cat person. I had no idea how allergic I was until after we were married and my husband's cat got on my legs one night when they got out of the blankets. I got covered in hives where I was out and he was physically on me because I guess I was warm. It try not to hold it against him... but for...
  2. I couldn't resist the temptation of the rotisserie chickens at Costco yesterday afternoon. They were just getting them out when we were walking by so I had to have one. Tonight we'll eat the rest of it with potato wedges and gravy and some apple something. I have a few apples to do something with, I think something up. Maybe Bella is acting unimpressed...
  3. Well at least you can keep telling yourself that it's just one more winter. Get feeling better, I'm still trying to get rid of the last of the snottiness leftover from my cold. I hate how it lingers. We're trying to decide between breakfast for dinner and picking up a Costco rotisserie chicken since we'll be there anyway. I suppose we'll probably decide...
  4. Someone had to open their fat mouth about the perfect fall weather. Guess who's supposed to get snow tonight? We're having do-overs, which is kind of like leftovers only... no, it's exactly the same thing. I found the ambition for arepas last night but ate the spares for breakfast so it's Udi's for my sandwich tonight. But that means I have zucchini...
  5. Pulled pork sandwiches tonight. I think I'm making some fried zucchini cakes to go with them. It'll leave me a little leftover so I can make fresh ones for breakfast in the morning. I've got some Udi's buns in the freezer so I won't have to make arepas if I don't feel like it. We'll see how that goes closer to dinner time. Nothing exciting happening in...
  6. Kids do that a lot. They usually start at a young age too. My kids spent a lot of time with my mom when they were little, mostly because my mom couldn't get enough of them. Every time she would get them to her house they would immediately tell her they hadn't eaten, even though I always fed them before sending them anywhere. I've been being super lazy...
  7. I may have ended up resenting pie a little if that happened to me. As it is, my daughter and I both sort of resent Christmas wrapping paper. Having a birthday in December (her) or right after Christmas (me) is not an excuse not to have a dollar to spend on cheap wrapping paper at the dollar store. Snowman wrapping paper doesn't double as winter birthday paper...
  8. Who doesn't want a giraffe cookie cutter!?! Also, I probably used my old rolling pin at least 2-3 times a month and that's being pretty conservative. When I said I was a pretty serious baker, I wasn't kidding. And pies and cookies were at the top of my list. I wonder sometimes how it is I married someone who doesn't really care for pie. Maybe he's just not...
  9. I... see I have an admission to make. And I know this makes me a horrible person. It is entirely possible that in nearly two years I sort of, maybe, kind of haven't bought a new rolling pin. Other methods of rolling things out make me crazy and so I know I need one, but I keep needing other stuff more than pie or cookies I can cut out. I'm so embarrassed...
  10. uh.... yes. But I'm surprised that based on the fact that he was yelling at a mammoth you knew what he was playing. He's all "the mammoths are tough" as if this is a fact that everyone knows. Except me of course since I never played Skyrim. And gratz on the pizza. Always good news when things go smoothly.
  11. Spaghetti with meatballs tonight. It's something I used to enjoy a lot more often when I could just buy meatballs, but the only ones available all have soy in them. So, due to laziness I don't get my meatballs very often. My husband is playing a video game and was killing a mammoth. I told him we could have fusilli instead of the usual pasta if he wanted...
  12. I don't think I've seen the salted caramel one yet. (Although I did try that flavor of Greek Gods yogurt at the expo and it is to die for.) At any rate, I'm a huge fan of nuts (har har crack your jokes) and will probably still always pistachio my favorite. It was my second favorite ice cream flavor growing up after teaberry. I was an odd duck.
  13. omg I don't know that I truly lived before gelato! Talenti makes a really good one that is widely available. All of them are good, but I'm backing up the pistachio here. By far my favorite even over chocolate.
  14. I'm the kind of person who can "sneak" into the kitchen at 11 and eat 2 spoonfuls and put it back in the freezer. Or maybe 3.... definitely no more than 4. At any rate, it isn't much and I savor every mouthful like it's the last thing I'll ever eat. I figure if an entire pint disappears slowly that way, it won't hurt me.
  15. Isn't every night gelato night if you have some in the house? It is in my house!
  16. Comes from too much brain and not enough space for it. Gets all squeezed up on itself and starts pokin' me in the eye being all "gimme space!" and I'm all "shut the hell up and stay put and GET OFF MAH EYE!" (It's actually the fluid but shhhh... we won't tell.) It's actually a legume problem but I've been doing okay with small amounts of peanut butter...
  17. I can't take life without beans any more, it's making me crazy. So, I am going to try all different types of beans to see what I do and don't get reactions to. My issue with them in the past (distant past, nearly a year) is that they make me more or less blind in my left eye. So tonight I'm making refried beans with pinto beans, because they're what I...
  18. A failed or malfunctioning computer doesn't mean everything is lost. It is possible if you take it to a tech they can retrieve your hard drive information. A blue screen is rarely (if ever) related to your hard drive, so your information is probably all intact. If you have truly valuable information on there, you can probably go to a tech and tell them what...
  19. Want mine? I see her 2 or 3 times a week. I'm sure even my husband would be willing to give her away right now. I'm a horrible person when I'm glutened too. I can't even go to Wal-Mart because if one person looks at me funny I'll start thinking things like "I swear to God if you so much as open your mouth in my direction I'll stab you in the eye with...
  20. Know what's the most insulting? Based on when I started feeling sick, I'm 99% confident I picked it up at the Expo. I am 100% sure there were irresponsible people there who didn't belong there. Someone in line early had a lady join them with her daughter who wasted no time in proudly stating she had pink eye. My immediate thought was "what the holy hell...
  21. Mac and cheese with stewed tomatoes is awesome!!! They used to serve that at the school I went to and I loved it so much. I was the only person who would do double lunch tickets that day, most people just had milk or milk and fruit. Good luck with the not getting sick thing. Didn't work out for me, so you can have my leftover luck that clearly I didn...
  22. I still want nothing but soup and frankly don't have money to throw at cans of soup every day. Not that I have a choice, but I don't want to cook either. I'm going to just pick up some already cut up veggies, throw them in a pot with some chicken and stock and boil some rice a bag. Bam! Dinner for the weekend. I'm frankly too sick to give a crap what my husband...
  23. The reason it isn't covered by insurance is because insurance companies consider it to be experimental/unproven. http://www.aetna.com/cpb/medical/data/1_99/0038.html As pointed out, it is not a valid medical test for celiac and can not be used to diagnose. This is a fun website that I find has lots of interesting information about "medical" tests...
  24. I'm sure someone will use the recipe if you post it. It does sound yummy. Last night: chicken and wild rice soup (from a can) Tonight: cilantro lime chicken soup (from a can) Why? Because what I thought was worse than usual allergies because my husband was hanging out with his cat turned out to be a cold.... that actually turned out to be the flu...
  25. It's so unfair!!!! I'm pro-ocean but anti-humidity. I love love love the desert too much to leave. I need a desert with an ocean attached.
